@Ruthlyn I think people are just more open about how they feel now, if they want to be rude they will, they don't care about apearances. My mom said that when she was growing up in the 60's and 70's that with her family it was all about the appearance. That they would never air their dirty laundry. My grandmother on my mothers side was a very personal woman. they said that when they fought things got very quiet, on my dads side things were the opposite. So, I think it depends on people mainly.

Now, parenting is something many parents dislike, and would rather be friends with their children. Marilyn was so beautiful..recently visited her gravesite. It was surreal, as I had watched the funeral procession on b/w TV as a young kid. Even then I was so in love with her and I cried. Arthur Miller and Lee & Paula Strasberg, plus the Kennedy's (John and Bobby) and the slimy Peter Lawford were the stones that ended Marilyn. A beautiful soul, caught up "like a candle in the wind." Thank you, Elton John for "Goodbye, Norma Jean." Thanks for these wonderful videos and interviews!

@Ruthlyn I think people are just more open about how they feel now, if they want to be rude they will, they don't care about apearances. My mom said that when she was growing up in the 60's and 70's that with her family it was all about the appearance. That they would never air their dirty laundry. My grandmother on my mothers side was a very personal woman. they said that when they fought things got very quiet, on my dads side things were the opposite. So, I think it depends on people mainly.

@Ruthlyn We weren't taught this etiquette. It took something somewhat non PC to instill that in one at an early age, spare not the rod. Now, parenting is something many parents dislike, and would rather be friends with their children. Add to that, the fact that the State has the children more than half the time now, and you get what we see today. There is more to it then just that, but you start to get the picture.

Fame for the most part has a negative effect on a person. We've learned that through several generations of actors. She just seemed so troubled and that she just wanted to be loved and have some stability for once in her life, she couldn't get that from her mother etc so she tried to get it from the public, but being loved by the public isn't keeping her company at night.
