  • @MegaSupergirl45 ... So true ...

  • Also, the main reason this story takes place during Christmas time is because it's the rare time everyone is kind to one another.

  • The three spirits represent the Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy spirit. The ghost of Christmas past warps into every person Scrooge knew in his past, everyone is dead except him. Ghost of Christmas Present is jovial and cheerful because it's the reaction you have when you receive one. The ghost of Christmas Future is cloaked and dumb- meaning unable to speak- because you may be able to foresee the future, but it could change the next second.

  • Merry Christmas everybody!

  • Merry Christmas to the 99%. Cake for you.

  • wow....this was great I really enjoyed it!!!!! ^.^ and Merry Christmas

  • A wonderful tale that will stand the test of time. Brilliant version. Merry Christmas to all.

  • I've got to thank some people, 1st to Charles Dickens for writing such a powerful story of redemption,2nd to Richard Williams for directing this powerful short. Finally to you astroboy1960 for uploading this short masterpiece, Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you.

  • @babylover0990 Thank you.

  • A classic Christmas Carol I have to watch every Christmas season

  • woooooooooooow this is sopoo freekyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Truly it is one of the more disturbing versions of the carol, but it coveys a stronger version of the message.

  • Richard Williams and Charles Dickens are da bomb! Not to mention all the other contributing efforts in this short.

  • uhaushauashuahsuhaushaushuahsuahsuashaushaushaushuashaushuahs

  • thanks for uploading this! nothing beats classic! ^^,

  • An interesting adaptation. A lot of odd things were dropped or cut short, like Fred's party (other than the toast) and most of the 'Yet to Come' of Tiny Tim's death, but at the same time it was very faithful to a lot of subtle things that are usually ignored; the Christmas Past, other than being made female, was the most faithful version I've seen, and it also included Ignorance and Want as well as the shaking hand of 'Yet to Come' when Scrooge breaks down near the end. Nice version overall

  • I was sure there was more to it than this?

  • I wonder what had happened to tiny Tim when he grew upp and how about scrooge?? when he died i bet he was an honourable man

  • Excellent version!!

  • I really, really love and appreciate this version of the Christmas Carol. When I found it on youtube I was so happy. This is the very best version -- scary but full of feeling and meaning. Why can't we get this on DVD? My 11 and 12 year old kids have to hang over me and watch it on the laptop!!! Not like 1970 when I watched it!

  • brilliant - i remember this version from when i was very young - scared the life out of me! love the scratchy hand drawn animation - better than CGI anyday!

  • They need to Release this On DVD For Sure!!!

  • lol, I always like how he screwed with Bob Cratchett's head when he try to pretend to be his old self while at the same time trying to drop the hint that Bob would be his partner. Its just such a good-humored scene for a good ending :)

  • That sketchy motion of the ghosts haunted my dreams as a kid for years. A wonderful version.

  • lol crachett's hungover!

  • aw.. he's zen ^_^

  • that snuff-snorting man looks like he'd be fun at a party.

  • I love this version, which remember watching & loving as a child. It has the right combination of light and dark, which is so true to Dickens's story & his work in general. It is beautifully drawn, as well.

  • where is part 5

  • I love this been looking for it for years

  • 6:49 = CREEPIEST LAUGH EVER

  • @zepps88

i actually jumped up when i heard that laugh soo scarey

  • I guess the little boy who comes and tells scrooge that its christmas day...he was given money by scrooge and asked him to buy the biggest turkey in the town and take it to his clerk's home ! I think i read it...lol

  • I had this on vhs for the longest time and sadly I don't have a vcr anymore.....So happy I could see it here! Thanks for uploading it!!!

  • Absolutely wonderful. A masterpiece.

  • I really don't like this version, it's creepy to start, and there is waaayyyy much more to the play than what is shown. Thanks for uploading it though!

  • 0:50 What's wrong with his nose?

  • I am still a little confused on this story!

  • this freaked me out as a child....

  • Excellent !

  • Very Good! I also like Charles Dickens version.

  • @jmsvr7 ofcourse

  • Best version of this movie!

  • OH CRAP O.o There's no Scrooges here!!! They're all up in LONDON!!! (run away)

  • rly thanks for this you helped me understand the book better now <3

  • that's pretty awesome. my favorite parts have to be Jacob Marley's ghost, the first and last spirits, and the creeepy personifications of Ignorance and Want. When exactly was this made?

  • @flechedor24 1971

  • @flechedor24 my favorite is the sign that says "TURKEE" haha XD

  • Thankyou for posting this beautiful animation!

  • Thank you astroboy1960. Loved it!!!

  • 5:00 drugs?

  • ummmm... why are Scrooge's feet blue?!

  • @7435ash Because he is wearing blue socks...watch when he jumps off the bed....he just attempts to put socks on over the blue ones since he is just overcome with joy...

  • @hangingrock57 that socks look horrific and also his legs..seems like made of bamboo

  • the futrue is badass i like him

  • i like this much :)

  • This makes me incredibly happy...

  • This is just gorgeous. I remember it fondly and wish I could buy it on DVD. This is certainly one of the best animated versions ever, if not the best. Thanks!

  • I looked for this for a long time and eventually bought it off Amazon I think it was. I bought it on VHS and don't know if it's available now on DVD. Used to watch it every year on TV when we were kids.

  • I wish they had made this longer...at least an hour. Great version of a great story.

  • That is the same actress from the Alastair Sim live version as well.... His house servant who sells his sheets and curtains. Great casting.

  • i love classic novels.. so much! :D

  • THIS FILM IS EPIC!!! Best portrayal of all three ghosts ever!!

  • i have never watched a christmas carol before and i think it is so awesome

  • this movie in reality shows some of the evils of capitalism and corruption.

  • this is a very good story and film.

  • Sublime

  • Alistair Sim's wonderful laugh! In this version, as in the 1951 live-action film that he did, it's so perfect. I think it's because he's so unafraid to seem like a crazy old coot, even after his conversion. He's just crazy in a good way, now. That makes Alistair Sim one of the most believable Scrooges ever. Kudos to Alistair Sim!

  • does anyone know where you can buy this on dvd ?

  • Thank u for posting such a wonderful movie.... Love it so much!

  • That guy sure looks like the penguin from Batman returns.

  • Richard Williams + Chuck Jones= PURE GENIUS!

This was one of the best adaptations of "A Christmas Carol" ever! Thanks for posting this!

  • haha thats was funny! lol

  • Awesome, the best rendition of Christmas Carol I have ever seen. I saw this as a child and spent decades trying to find it again. They don't make them like this anymore.

  • @carlfenger With al due respect I say that the best rendition of this classic I have yet seen is The Muppet Christmas Carol. THEY had the best ghosts, especaly the ghost of crhismas presant. And Cane was a fantastic scrooge.

  • @EccentricGentelman I like them both equally!

  • @carlfenger i just found it on 1 "click"

  • @carlfenger Same as me, I couldn't find it for years. But watch it every year now.

Ignorance and Want are bloody scary..

  • i so enjoyed this.

  • I seen another cartoon version of Christmas Carol, but this one's way better! 5/5

  • amazing! gorgeous story and unbelievable animation. i don't quite know what to say. i wish the guy below me knew that he had nothing to say so close to christmas. he's getting coal in his stocking i think.

  • 6:50 eeevil laughter!

  • it was 70's i watched this as a kid and it creeped me out

  • wow the 3d is way better than this, but still it's cool : )

  • I've read this story from the book. My nephew made illustrations for the whole book as his project & I had to explain the whole story so he could make correct illustrations.

It is nice & a good teaching to the kids.

  • Kind Of Ralph Bachi

  • when was this made? what year?

  • I think it was 1971.

  • i think it was 1984

  • cool!!!

  • Wow. I just saw the new one last night and the characters in this look a lot like the ones in the new one...did they base their character designs off this?

  • Love every version of Christmas Carol... ^^

  • Thank-you.

    I enjoyed it alot.

  • @alligatorartist : Thanks a lot! I search this song so long. It's such a nice song.

  • To FoxDogEddie90: The song sung during the closing credits is "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen".

  • Does anyone know the name of the song in the end?? I like it really ^^

    The movie is very nice

  • i have see all the parts! Thank you for posting this!

  • I think that this movie is much shorter than the new version of disney but is not bad

  • charls dickens the auther of a cristmas carol wrote this book after hes life of child labor. He wroth this book because christmas was dieing diwn i london so when he wroth this book it realy brot back the christmas celibration

  • @silverstreem12 I heard he needed money, so he wrote dis book

  • to this day, rats give me the creeps from watching that scene.

  • i love a christmas carol, but this one seemed a bit rushed. not realy chuck jones' best work. but still LOVE the story.

  • animation!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this story :) <3

I would love to see the new version, the only problem is .... i hate jim carrey... :S

  • I thought this was excellent and the animation was great! I am getting fed up with all the arguing onhere though, if you can't be civilised, then don't comment or dont watch the material! there's no need to rip each other's throats out!

  • Went to see the new disney version yesterday and I was very impressed. I am a big fan of Dickens and love A Christmas Carol....( I read it every Christmas) The atmosphere is just about perfect in the new film andI I don't know if I can fault it....the script is good, the voices are just right. If you get a chance then go and see it.

  • the jim carrey version is excellent. this doesn't detract from this one.....just a fact.

  • scrooge is scarier happy

  • Question: isn't their a similar version of this Christmas Carol that was filmed in the 90's or so, I say cause I could possibly swear that I had A christmas carol with better graphics and it was different!

  • This a nice story!!! Thanks for posting!!!

  • THIS IS THE BEST VERSION- so deserved its Oscar!

  • stupid its not even showed how can u compare? its th best version because its the original PERIOD.

  • no it's not and don't call me stupid you dick just because it is the original does not mean it is better and besides it is my opinion and if you don't like it i don't really give a fuck

  • what do you mean the orginal?

  • scrooge has one scary laugh

  • 6:50 what the......O.o

  • I was thinking the same thing.... :3

  • boooooooo

  • I know it is old english but why is turkey spelled turkee on the sign? XD LOL

  • 1:02 - Ew...that guy's nose on the far left. Is he the Penguin or something?

  • I have this video it included Rudolf, and the Care Bears, and the video still works even though i've had it since Christmas 93' and now as an 18 yr old i still watch it and enjoy it.

  • I have that same video!!! And same here, 18 years and still enjoy it :)

  • exellent rhe great video for student""""

  • WOW!!!It's wonderful i readd the short copy of the book.

    Brillliant!!!

  • awesome vedio based on charles dickens drama THE CHRISTMAS CAROL.....also found in some of the text books in INDIA

  • The Ghost of Christmas Future is so badass

  • duh

  • To see how Charles Dickens came up with "A Chirstmas Carol" see the Film the Ghosts of Dickens Past, really good and realy touching.

  • As reading from What Charles Dickens speeches on this Novel, it was really the death of Tiny Tim that made Scrooge what to change.

  • Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is very creppy looking.

  • made me not have 2 read a big part of teh dook har harish

  • At the end it looked a little as if Scrooge had gone mad, the way he laughed. I once watched the German version of this. The ghosts looked different and Scrooges laugh was a light and happy one...Oh well. Merry xmas to everyone (in advance)!

  • Brilliant! This used to be on the BBC every year at Christmas when I was a boy :)

  • what show is this??????

  • Sex was the only pleasure the people living on the street could have and more than half of the children died under the age of 10. So many tombstones

  • There was no awareness at that time... Be a little more considerate...

  • @Litiux88

alastair sim is IN this one too!!

  • The voice actor's laugh = hilarious and a bit frightening at the same time. This is great. Thanks for posting. I was just watching Scrooged on television and came here to see if I could find any other version.

  • I never understood quite why the final nail in Scrooge's figurative coffin was seeing his own grave. What, did he think he would live forever? Why did that scare him so badly?

Maybe he just needed a reminder of his own mortality to make the most of what remained.

  • Yes, and it was also realizing that people were going to celebrate his death and sell his stuff to pawnbrokers if he didn't change his behavior.

  • In my opinion..... the best animated Christmas Carol ever..... and maybe the best. I love also George C. Scott and Michael Cane, great Scrooge's.

  • they don't make animation like this anymore and that's a shame. what passes for animation today doesn't measure up to this masterpiece.

  • I agree.

  • It's very faithful to the book and very cleverly animated. A very good adaptation of a wonderful story that is every bit as relevant today as it was when it was written, over 150 years ago.

  • Thank you thank you astroboy1960 I have been trying to find this for years and scouring the Radio Times every Christmas wonderful stuff the animation and the richness of the voices Merry Christmas! shellspacebabe1962

  • 6:51 scared the hell out of me

  • You should watch the 1951 version of the christmas carol, the man that does scrooge in that one also did the voice for this movie. His laughing is hysterical.
