"Disable the stealth tech" REALLY where do get this shit!!!! The only time the F-22 stealth is compromised is when it opens it's weapons doors and then it has a radar croos-section the size of a hummingbird then they close and it's dark again. Cannot be shot down by any existing or proposed enemy technology. It was designed to actually skip a generation of fighters so in essence it is generation 6 if we want to get technical. Chinese don't have anything close and we know there quality.
F-35 is not super manuverable, cannot super cruise and is not total stealth, it is Gen 4.5 at best and although it is impressive it is a striker and has limited range for a striker which means external fuel tanks well there goes your stealth. The original contract was 200 billion it is now over 350 billion and it wont deliver anywhere near the numbers it promised making price per unit more than a raptor and obama canceled the raptor saying it was old tech and costly, could have built the 500
@erizzeldizzel Comparing the F-35 and F-22 alone is rather whacked, considering both are two different kinds of aircraft for different roles. It might as well be the same as comparing the B-17 Flying Fortress with the Junkers Ju-88. I believe judging the F-35 is rather a bit too early, considering that it's not even in active service and won't be until the coming years - still plenty of time for improvements.
For all you idiots out there> There is only one 5th Gen. fighter in the world and it's the F-22. 5th Gen is not how new it is, it's a set of requirements=Total stealth, super maneuverability, Super Cruise capability etc..The F-22 defined these requirements..Please tell me which Russian fighter you are referring too. The Raptor owns the sky like nothing before it ever has. And stealth shape defracts not reflects, wow what idiots.
And no the f-35 engine is merely one raptor engine with no vector thrusting you idiot, and no super cruise (non after-burning mach flight) Also how the fuck is it more stealthy when it has to hang fuel tanks and external ordinance. obviously your an idiot who knows nothing of jets and aviation. "Safe Take-off" HAHA I pissed myself you Tard. The f-22 is pure genius and the way the f-35 sucks money and cuts prod numbers they should have went with the Boeing proposal which would be in service!!
F-35=Useless non stealth over budget under-delivered piece of hot looking shit. One engine for a navy fighter is fucking suicide. The dumbest thing to ever come out of Obamas asshole was that the F-22 was obsolete. The f-22 will mop the fucking floor with anything that can take off including the f-35 which my fighter buddies call a beautiful THUD. I actually think the THUD was hotter. Like the commanche helicopter that was cancelled, canceling the 500 proposed f-22 was a fucking epic fail.
The F-22 is based for dogfighting due to its incredible speed and its deadly weapons. The F-35 had 3 versions of the same jets for different roles. The F-35 is based on a stealth jet. When people think of the F-35, they think, "oh, it can hover" When people think about the F-22 raptor they think of air dominance, thats the difference between these two planes
@helihopter1 Exactly. People don't seem to get that. Its not about which one is better. Its about what you need done. If you have high tech 5th generation Russian aircraft (like the T-50) then the F-22 is your plane. If your ground forces need air support in a high risk area that other planes like the A-10 can't penetrate, the F-35 is your plane. It really depends what you need done.
@helihopter1 Yea well the F-22 and F-35 are definitely the way of the future. These two fighters will likely be one of the last manned fighters ever built. I think Lockheed Martin already has designs for a 6th generation fighter that looks somewhat like the F-22 that could be released around 2030 that can either be manned or unmanned. But yea the F-22 is for air to air combat while the F-35 is a multi-role fighter that is mainly designed for air to surface combat.
The f22/f15 are for air superiority ,and built in smaller numbers due to higher cost...
F35/F16 multi role aircraft are mass produced aircraft ,due to lower cost..................... The legacy fighters dominated all,as will be with Stealth cousins, their effectiveness will be multiplied 10 fold...
@Slash396 most of that is due to the development of the B and C versions if the US just build the A version it would prob be complete now costing only 60 or so million a piece. the point of it was so they would not have to develop 3 versions that would cost more all together. The problem is when they try to export the A version to other nations to increase the numbers the costs are too high for only wanting the A version.
Everyone is all into F-22 vs. F-35 which one is better? It really depends what the mission is. If I had to pick either one for a mission that required air to air combat with another fighter jet like China's J-20 or Russia's T-50, I would pick the F-22. If we needed to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities I would probably pick the F-35.
@bRizzle2009100 Isn't the F-22 best suited for a Whiskey Delta? I mean fast as accurate as the F-35 so why not use that instead or is it for the stealth capability?
@xDvsking666x The F-22 would beat the F-35 in air to air combat assuming the pilots are equal. Plus its not like we are the only ones who will have F-35 technology. Other nations will have it also. Who's to say that Turkey won't be affected by the Arab Spring and go into an Islamic theocratic dictatorship? There is a reason why F-22's were prohibited from being exported from the U.S. and F-35's were done with other nations.
@Slash396 Well, it has been reported that in dogfights the F-22 has been very hard to detect on radar. The F-35 does have better electronics I will say that. But with regards to air to air the F-22 will win all day long. It is incredibly faster and more maneuverable. Both are extremely good fighters tho. The U.S. Air Force has enough F-22's for one regional conflict which should be efficient for now considering China and Russia are a handful of years away from their 5th generation fighters.
@bRizzle2009100 Agreed, I think it would have been better if they put the electronics and radar of the F-35 into the F-22, instead of making a whole new jet.
@Slash396 Yes that would have been better. But then how could have Lockheed Martin made the F-35 pretty in the eyes of the U.S. govt if it didn't have better electronics? The F-35 was designed for different types of warfare as well. Its a multi-role fighter that has superb air to air and air to ground capabilities. It will be replacing the A-10, F-16, most F-18's, and the Harrier. The F-22 will be replacing the F-15 as the Air Forces top air superiority fighter.
@bRizzle2009100 well biggest problem also is that they have to disable the stealth tech for monitoring dogfights with the F-22 and F-35 also, they engagement zones tend to be smaller than their sniping abilities.
@eddieisfiction I am pretty sure they don't have to "disable" stealth tech when in dogfights. Stealth is reached by the shape of the plane (i.e. having the least amount of 90 degree angles as possible, curvy and slanted shaped so radar waves will deflect and not bounce back to its source), a radar absorbent material or RAM that absorbs radar waves that aren't deflected, reduced heat signatures, reduced acoustics (i.e. noise of the plane), and visual stealth. U can't really "turn those off".
Both are superior for their intended missions...the F22 is a penetrate strike fighter...the F35 can be used in two configs...VSTOL for marines and small US, British and French jump carriers to replace the venerable British Harrier or "jump jet"...and as a non VSTOL land based attack fighter...both have superior "stand off and kill" capabilties and are not intended for dogfighting that was out of date after the Korean war...21st century air combat...a real game changer!
Lets face it stealth spells the end of the fighter planes we grew up on. The F-14, 15,16, and 18. The Navy already phased out the great F-14, and soon stealth will make the others obsolete. Just like the jet engine made the prop fighter a thing of the past, the same thing will happen to these fighters. Both China and Russia are developing stealth fighters. Once they come on line those other fighters will be retired or relegated to a support role.
first off, its CTOL- conventional takeoff (airforce), STOVL- short takeoff vertical landing (marines), and CV- carrier variant (navy). Personally i prefer he looks of the 22, having worked ont the 22 and currently the 35 i would pull more for the 22 for now because it has been proven more than the 35 which is still in test. so what if the russians have an aircraft that is more maneuverable. weapons systems these days are defined by their system capabilities rather than their flight ability.
I love both planes but they are both air-to-air and air-to-ground. the F-22 can get there faster and has a much better radar system but one version of the F-35 can hover, and it wouldn't surprise if the F-35 had better maneuverability. but the F-22s radar system is sick beyond reason. I personally like the F-22 better but like I said earlier, love them both
@kaasay YOU fagot go to hell ... AMERICA THIS PIECE OF SHIT ... Stinky Dog AMERICANS - THIS bunch of degenerates, PIDARASOV bastards Jews, .... GO TO PRICK!
@BOROVVA that is some pretty strong hate mail their buddy. if it makes you feel any better I do love the su-27 and the su-30. both good planes but I would still say that America still has the edge in that department. sorry if you have been taught to hate America your whole life but we are actually good people over here. and dont worry I have been out of this country and I have seen how people are taught in school how to hate America; poor misinformed fools!
they both look sick! and to say one is better is like saying the hand is better then the foot, how can you compare things that have different functions. sure maybe if they were fighting air to air the f-22 would win but lets not forget who the enemy really is.
they both look sick! and to say one is better is like saying the hand is better then the foot, how can you compare things that have different functions. sure maybe if they were fighting air to air the f-22 would win but lets not forget who the enemy really is.
F-22: Stealth Air to Air, F-35: Stealth Air to Ground Bomber and Air to Air.
So basically the F-22 can be used as a Anti Air interceptor. But you won't be seeing it attacking something in another country. As for the F-35 it's the main firepower.
@brashodan well starscream ever was an f-15... just the new (and really bad) pictures changed all.. now starscream is a fatt ugly boy with no real form... before was the most coward and badass betrayer ever existed.
@samsizil Only one version of the F-35 (F-35B) can hover. Thats the U.S. Marine version. The F-22 is way better in air to air combat that the F-35 but the F-35 has better sir to surface capabilities. The F-22 is much faster, more maneuverable, and has longer range. The F-35 can carry more air to surface weapons and is more of designed to be a strike fighter. The F-35 was built to complement the F-22.
@brashodan LOL but I think starscream was based on the F-15, the most futuristic-looking fighter jet the Japanese creators would have seen at the time, on American air bases in Japan.
the f35 has nice jamming systems and no line site lock on. she carries more anti-ground ordnance then the f22. though she slow fat and a small radar array. then the pak-da and j20 will put her to shame.
F-22:WVR/BVR (in the future) stealthier air superiority fighter with modern "basic" strike capability.
The F-22 doesn't really have a reason of existence in its current condition (in contrast to the F-35),while the F-35 can come in really handy for several nations.
The JSF (joint strike fighter program was created for the porpose of haveing just one jet for all military branches it had to replace the marines jet The harrier fit the navys F15 and `and meet the armys specs the f35 is supposed to replace all fighters until 2050
they are used for different things making both the best at what they do, in a dog fight the f-22 would win but if the f-22 needed was needed to hit alot of targets the f-35 is able to carry a whole lot more
Like its gona need thrust vectoring to shoot down an aircraft 60 miles away. The front of the F-35 is very stealth. The F-35 also works when you want it to the F-22 on the otherhand needs 60hrs in the hanger for each hour it spends in the air.
The F-35 has some more advanced electronics and flight systems (since it's more recent after all) but the F-22 is cerainly more capable. But,since the F-22 isn't gonna be available for exports, many countries that wish to modernize their air forces will buy the F-35,so it's probably gonna be a "hot" export.
@nikoface Some pilots say that the F-35 will replace the F-16 and the A-10 in the early future.
I say there right about the F-16 becouse they are both multyrole aircraft so the F-35 is VTOL so it can take off easy from a carrier and it surpasses the F-16 in payloade and overall stats such as manoverability and more. But I dont think it can replace the A-10 do to its big payload.
And both the F-22 and F-35 are stealth, the F-22 is a fighter and the F-35 is multyrole, not better than a fighter.
@nikoface nothing much yet how good the f35 is but the raptor is counceled its on u tube all over very unreliable couldn't operate in the wet not much good to say about it really this 35 looks like an improoved version of the original Harrier jump jet
Well this aint much of a comparison as they are designed for different roles. The UCAVs will come in as a diversion, the F-35s will destroy the ground targets and the F-22s will come in and wait to shoot some AMRAAMs and Aim-9s. Keep it in mind, that the F-35s stealth ability will put their missiles in range of enemies when the enemies can't see them, so if it carries 6 internal AMRAAMs on an A2A stealth mission, it can take out a few Migs and Sukhois and leave before they've been alerted.
F-35 though keep in mind has an extremely advanced head tracking lock on feature that allows it to get tone far, far easier; still the f-22, in a dogfight would win hands down.
As I like to say - size does matter, but the way you use it is even more important. F22 is Fighter and F35 is Multirole fighter (basically fighter + bomber) So it is absolutely possible that the 22 top the 35 in some aspects... ( Honestly i like the 35 more - It reminds me of INSPECTOR GADGET :D )
iam more for the 22 then the 35..... but since they will be shooting in the same direction and flown by the best of the best iam for them both. its kinda like the falcon vs the eagle....... one is good but the other is better......... eagle and raptor all the way!!
I wonder how it will fare in dog fights.. the F-35 i mean.... from what i've read it cannot be compared to thrust vector and speed with the F-22 .. but still its one cool looking plane and probably will serve along side the f/a-18 in the navy more than the airforce.
True. The F-22 is a amazing air-to-air aircraft. F-35 is better for mass production and ground attack. Whatever happens, they'll be shooting in the same direction.
@MAlford65 The problem is, the F-35 will have to do well at both given that we bought less than 200 F-22's and the F-15 will be retiring in about 15 years.
@xchoopaloopax Not all f-35 models can do that. Currently, there are 3 versions, F-35A which is a conventional takeoff variant for the use of ground attack and aerial combat.F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the aircraft. Similar to the A variant, the B sacrifice one third of fuel volume for the vertical flight system.F-35C carrier variant features larger wings with foldable wingtip sections, stronger landing, and a stronger tailhook
@ResiusOnline I didn't expect you to agree with me. The EO DAS system makes maneuverability a moot point. So in a fight between the two, all the F-22's maneuverability would mean naught. Both aircraft are running in the Special Olympics no matter who wins.
"Both aircraft are running in the Special Olympics no matter who wins."
They are the most advanced manned aircraft mankind has every constructed, how can you say they are running the special olympics? Are you saying that you are from the future where they have better?
@nexus1g Here's an example of the lack of forethought about the F-35... They want to give the F-35 to Marines. It's got ONE ENGINE. A Marine in a single-engine aircraft won't have the backup if an engine fails. No, he'll be taking a little swim is what he'll be doing and a 50 million dollar aircraft will be joining him. That shows complete disregard for reason.
@nexu 1g: You are a an idiot, your said and i quote "They want to give the F-35 to Marines. It's got ONE ENGINE." What do you call the Harrier, it has only one engine and we have been flying this Aircraft since the 50's. Get your facts strait before you make a fool of yourself oh wait you already have.
@RobertsDigital The F-35 doesn't need to be sleek. It can lock onto a target without it being in front of it. And its missiles can do a 180º turn to get anyone on their six off of it.
@RobertsDigital Any missile can, but I'm sure the AIM-9X is superior at it over others. It doesn't matter what aircraft you're in, missiles are capable of doing a 180º turn. The problem is, other than the F-35 and its EO DAS system, fighter/attack aircraft can't lock onto targets outside of what's right in front of them.
@nexus1g yes i saw it... it says point and shoot... i went to school for the hornet platform i dont need links... and i think you answered your own question. point and shoot well look and shoot lol so yeah like i said anything else is need to know
@TazFC3s I mean weapons systems linked to the helmet is nothing new. The Apache has had it for I would guess at least 2 decades now? But locking targets behind them is another matter.
@nexus1g it says ut has JHMCS but there arnt specifics and it also says the legacy hornet doesnt have JHMCS but there are legacy hornets that have it equiped
@nexus1g i can tell you that as long as the radar had an initial lock for A/A it can break lock and re aquire. there are other systems the hornet has that is 360 awareness but not quite like EO-DAS. its hard to explain. the hornet can have a lock on "its six" and fire a 9X ect... not as effieciently though.
@TazFC3s I've seen footage from the EO-DAS from Northrop and it's amazing. The pilots being able to see through the floor of the aircraft is just crazy.
@nexus1g lol wow yeah nothin like that but i was just stating that the hornet isnt a dead POS lol its still very much capable to bring it to the bad guys, i have seen one drop 11 500lb bombs it was bad ass... another dropped 5 1000lb bombs....
@TazFC3s Oh no, I don't think any of our current fighters are POS's. Look at the F-15. A perfect air-to-air combat record. It's too bad the F-22 got cut and retirements are coming in the not-to-distant future.
@TazFC3s What are they grounded for this time? What I'm waiting for is to see the F-35's maneuvering capability. I know that NG advertises that maneuvering is a moot point with the EO-DAS, but I'm pretty sure it's still something the military wants in their fighter/attack aircraft.
@nexus1g OBOGS is messed up.... and yeah anything remote to the f-22 would be an upgrade to the hornet platform lol most of our pilots that come through the top gun class get whooped on by the F-16/15 pilots on 1v1 day lol
@TazFC3s The specs I've seen on the F-35 kind of make me wonder, but I have high hopes. It's not stealthy, it doesn't have thrust vectoring like the F-22 (is has the CTOL thrust vectoring as I'm sure you already know), IIRC the thrust-to-weight ratio is pretty low (<1.0), and, just on a completely unscientific note, it doesn't "look" very aerodynamic.
@nexus1g Right - F-15 = RCS 15m^2.... 350km from F-35 can be detected, F-15 detects F-35 at <25km. You can see it with the eye at 24km... Eagle dead at 70km... AMRAAM from unknown place
The F-22 is far better than the F-35. It has much better Air-to-Air Combat capabilities and is 50% faster than the F-35. The F-22 also costs $40 million dollars for than the F-35 at $150 million. The F-35 costs $110 million
@Spezza149 Well you have to admit you worded it pretty weird, plus earlier in the comment you say it costs 150 million and then 110. Now im not trying to be rude but your comment just seemed convusing.
@patrick60495 guess waht dude, they aint gettin them... that was cancelled... guess you will still be flyin outdated c/f-18s.. what they should do is buy the new F-15 Silent Eagles
@lrecollet it aint cancelled bro. We had a meeting about the f-35 a week ago about the f-35's main controls because they are alot diffrent and easier to pilot than the f-18 and we are use to those controls.
@patrick60495 hmm.. well canada needs long range fighter/interceptors.. to bad they dont build their own fighter ... or a more modern version of the arrow..
@lrecollet Strereotype much. Okay bro one thing to tell you that the actual speed of the f-35 is highly classified until release. The weapons and engine is classified to us pilots too. We'l just have to wait until 2016 until we can test the max speed. They only gave one clue; That the aircraft can go faster than the f22. I bet you.
@patrick60495 The F35 has a single engine. It has a max speed with after burners of just over supersonic. The F22 can cruise at super sonic without after burners. Also use common sense. The F35 has 1 engine, while the F22 cas two. The F22 produces way more thrust as well. The weapons and engines aren't classified.
"Disable the stealth tech" REALLY where do get this shit!!!! @bRizzle2009100 Wrong, the F-35 has won dogfights against it primarily because of a better radar and jammer
Slash396 1 month ago
@Slash396 Well, it has been reported that in dogfights the F-22 has been very hard to detect on radar. The F-35 does have better electronics I will say that. But with regards to air to air the F-22 will win all day long. It is incredibly faster and more maneuverable. Both are extremely good fighters tho. The U.S. Air Force has enough F-22's for one regional conflict which should be efficient for now considering China and Russia are a handful of years away from their 5th generation fighters.
bRizzle2009100 1 month ago
@bRizzle2009100 Agreed, I think it would have been better if they put the electronics and radar of the F-35 into the F-22, instead of making a whole new jet.
Slash396 1 month ago
@Slash396 Yes that would have been better. But then how could have Lockheed Martin made the F-35 pretty in the eyes of the U.S. govt if it didn't have better electronics? The F-35 was designed for different types of warfare as well. Its a multi-role fighter that has superb air to air and air to ground capabilities. It will be replacing the A-10, F-16, most F-18's, and the Harrier. The F-22 will be replacing the F-15 as the Air Forces top air superiority fighter.
bRizzle2009100 1 month ago
@bRizzle2009100 Correct, but it isn't offical that they are replacing the A-10, but they said probably around 2028, along way away
Slash396 1 month ago
@Slash396 Oh I didn't know that. The A-10 is still one bad ass piece of equipment. Ground forces tremble when they see an A-10 coming there way.
bRizzle2009100 1 month ago
@bRizzle2009100 Ya, they shouldn't replace the A-10. It's like the B-52, perfect. Just keep updating it with new techology
Slash396 1 month ago
@bRizzle2009100 well biggest problem also is that they have to disable the stealth tech for monitoring dogfights with the F-22 and F-35 also, they engagement zones tend to be smaller than their sniping abilities.
eddieisfiction 1 week ago

Once they come on line those other fighters will be retired or relegated to a support role.
odflyer1 2 months ago
first off, its CTOL- conventional takeoff (airforce), STOVL- short takeoff vertical landing (marines), and CV- carrier variant (navy). Personally i prefer he looks of the 22, having worked ont the 22 and currently the 35 i would pull more for the 22 for now because it has been proven more than the 35 which is still in test. so what if the russians have an aircraft that is more maneuverable. weapons systems these days are defined by their system capabilities rather than their flight ability.
bigracin16969 3 months ago
I love both planes but they are both air-to-air and air-to-ground. the F-22 can get there faster and has a much better radar system but one version of the F-35 can hover, and it wouldn't surprise if the F-35 had better maneuverability. but the F-22s radar system is sick beyond reason. I personally like the F-22 better but like I said earlier, love them both

F-22: Stealth Air to Air, F-35: Stealth Air to Ground Bomber and Air to Air.
So basically the F-22 can be used as a Anti Air interceptor. But you won't be seeing it attacking something in another country. As for the F-35 it's the main firepower.

F-35:BVR multirole stealth fighter
F-22:WVR/BVR (in the future) stealthier air superiority fighter with modern "basic" strike capability.
The F-22 doesn't really have a reason of existence in its current condition (in contrast to the F-35),while the F-35 can come in really handy for several nations.

Like its gona need thrust vectoring to shoot down an aircraft 60 miles away. The front of the F-35 is very stealth. The F-35 also works when you want it to the F-22 on the otherhand needs 60hrs in the hanger for each hour it spends in the air.
NielsShoe 7 months ago

OMEGAMIVEGA 3 months ago
@nikoface nothing much yet how good the f35 is but the raptor is counceled its on u tube all over very unreliable couldn't operate in the wet not much good to say about it really this 35 looks like an improoved version of the original Harrier jump jet
polygamous1 3 months ago
Well this aint much of a comparison as they are designed for different roles. The UCAVs will come in as a diversion, the F-35s will destroy the ground targets and the F-22s will come in and wait to shoot some AMRAAMs and Aim-9s. Keep it in mind, that the F-35s stealth ability will put their missiles in range of enemies when the enemies can't see them, so if it carries 6 internal AMRAAMs on an A2A stealth mission, it can take out a few Migs and Sukhois and leave before they've been alerted.
MilitaryAircraft101 8 months ago

MAlford65 9 months ago
@MAlford65 The problem is, the F-35 will have to do well at both given that we bought less than 200 F-22's and the F-15 will be retiring in about 15 years.
nexus1g 9 months ago
@xchoopaloopax Not all f-35 models can do that. Currently, there are 3 versions, F-35A which is a conventional takeoff variant for the use of ground attack and aerial combat.F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the aircraft. Similar to the A variant, the B sacrifice one third of fuel volume for the vertical flight system.F-35C carrier variant features larger wings with foldable wingtip sections, stronger landing, and a stronger tailhook

@nexus1g Here's an example of the lack of forethought about the F-35... They want to give the F-35 to Marines. It's got ONE ENGINE. That shows complete disregard for reason.

TazFC3s 8 months ago
@TazFC3s The specs I've seen on the F-35 kind of make me wonder, but I have high hopes. It's not stealthy, it doesn't have thrust vectoring like the F-22 (is has the CTOL thrust vectoring as I'm sure you already know), IIRC the thrust-to-weight ratio is pretty low (<1.0), and, just on a completely unscientific note, it doesn't "look" very aerodynamic.
nexus1g 8 months ago
@nexus1g its not stealthy? its said to have the radar cross section of a metal golf ball.

I bet you.
patrick60495 11 months ago
@patrick60495 The F35 has a single engine. It has a max speed with after burners of just over supersonic. The F22 can cruise at super sonic without after burners. Also use common sense. The F35 has 1 engine, while the F22 cas two. The F22 produces way more thrust as well. The weapons and engines aren't classified.
