  • Phil Gramm sponsored a bill which allowed investment bankers to earn billions underwriting and selling toxic private label mortgage-backed securities. Even after the proverbial brown stuff hit the fan he maintains that the repeal of Glass Steagal didn't contribute to the crisis. He should be investigated considering his links to subprime lenders who lobbied him to deregulate underwriting standards in the private mortgage market. I can't believe Americans haven't demanded at least that much.

  • Its 2011 and this bag of shit is still reaping destruction on America.

This guy is the lowest piece of shit, you can find.

Republicans (Bachmann) still support him and help aid this guy in bringing the US to a great depression.

Graham could care less about the US, he is making a killing.

  • I compiled a blog which includes my take on the declining corporate tax rates in the 34 OECD member countries. Just Google search: "Corporate Executives Deny 57 million Americans healthcare - by Bill Woollam" I surmise it is an orchestrated scam where International CEOs lobby member nations to lower corp. tax rates. Then, as one member country at a time reduces corporate tax rates, the pressure is put on remaining member countries to lower their corporate rates in order to compete "globally".

  • Gramm makes me embarrassed to be a Texan. I always wanted to puke when I saw his dumb ass on TV. He should be shot in the head like the rest of the conservative scum.

  • Don't you love it? First, Phil Gramm weakens regulations as a senator, then lobbies Congress on behalf of foreign banks like UBS to eliminate regulations altogether. How many families lost their homes and their dreams as a direct result of Gramm and McCain, to the benefit of foreign money?

I wonder how much money Gramm got for it? How much enjoyment will this old man get out of spending his bribe money? Hope it's worth all the lives he destroyed.

  • he's a abysmal

  • if mccain was pres now there would be no way we could avoid another great depression

  • phuckin Aggie

  • Phil Gramm should go to prison

  • Lehman Bros. died this morning 9/15/08.

Great piece of work you did, Gramm. Bet you're real proud of all the $m's you made screwing over the economy.

In my book you are a traitor.

  • there is a saying "ships from a distance carry every man's dream aboard" and another one, the grass is always greener on the other side. the eu is not paradise.

  • I say hes a great guy because I met him in the UBS Intern's Orientation and was a standout guy. When you state "Big Oil 700 BILLION record profits since 2000" you are only describing a partial and unfair picture of Energy Companies. Yes, it is true they have record profits but a closer look and you will notice that the Major Oil companies pay the the same amount of Taxes as their Net Income Profit.I am appalled of how people have such a disdain towards energy companies and a lack of repentance.

  • @2Hot2Fly2Much Yes dear having superficial charm is a defining characteristic of a psychopath... As is HAVING NO EMPATHY OR CONSCIENCE - which you are CLEARLY showing by defending this scumbag and ignoring the appalling suffering created by this slimeball... Defending a powerful person in the face of glaring wrong doing is also a sign of being a high scorer on the 'Right Wing Authoritarian' scale. See John Deans book 'conservatives without conscience'.

  • Phill Gramm is just another drug buy... why do you think he is a Gramm of John McCocaine!

  • that's a too funny mosh-keee per Global-Su.

  • It is amazing how easily all too many Americans can be manipulated with (cleverly engineered) speaches and buzzwords. It has become an extreme sport to sway opinion and to play psychological warfare. The Neocons have taken this to a new level lately. Please, fellow Americans, learn to analize, think critically and do not let emotion dominate your thinking. Otherwise you will be tricked to vote against your best interest!

  • UBS = Warburg = UBC = Bush/Prescott/Walker investments in Hitler´s gov´t.

Nuff said. Gramm is a lobbyist whore.

  • You're right. The real estate bubble has just burst. The same bubble that Phil Gramm has created with his legislation to deregulate. He did this a lobbyist for UBS as stated in the YouTube clip from Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

  • the Democrats have been in control of congress for the last 2 year, what if anything have they done to stop the war in Iraq?I do beleive Sen. Graham,The average American has more assets now then ever b4.I work for a cable company, you just wouldn't beleive how many High Def. TV's have been purchased over the last year.We American's do complain way too much about the economy.

  • TV's have no value what so ever... consumption goods never have any lasting value!

I plan to get out pretty soon and warning people doesn't help so I just don't care any more...

  • Korean and Japanese HDTV's bought with credit cards financed by Chinese and European loans. America is owned by the rest of the world. Fact. And this year we're calling in the loans.

  • I'm sure some of the HDTV'S were financed this way, however most HDTV's I was referring to were probably purchased with IRS refund checks.People always use these for the purchase of durable goods.

  • I'm voting for the least corrupt candidate, and it looks like that's Obama... so...

  • then you are a fool...

  • thanks for the insightful comment.

  • Choosing the least good is not a viable option...

if noone vote the goverment won't be recognized and collapse...

  • So we can be like Kenya? Great idea lol

  • It wouldn't haveto collapse that way, reforming a corrupt system is however doomed to fail. But that is your problem, I don't live in the U.S.

  • No. It's your problem, too. Our economic problems of this magnitude affects the WHOLE WORLD. I don't know where you're writing from, but you have a stake in the successful, solvent and actual resolution of this downturn.

There's an old adage that says: If they come for me in the morning, they're coming for you in the afternoon.

  • Obama and McCain are both central economic planning statists. Both want to dramatically increase the size of government. Government created our current economic crisis and it will get horrendously worse as the Federal Reserve prints hundreds of billions of dollars to bail everyone out. We are heading into a hyperinflationary depression caused by our government, not free markets. Freedom is the only solution to this problem, not more government.

  • how can you say that? When Bush43 took office, there was a $200B BUDGET SURPLUS! Now, the deficit is projected to be in the TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS! BTW, that isn't in American money, it's in the YEN! Bush has funded this war by borrowing from the Chinese! Think about it, an amount of this magnitude would not be paid by us during our professional lives. Therefore, our children and possibly our grandchildren have been mortgaged in this HUGE BLUNDER OF A WAR OF LIES! Iraq didn't kill 3,000 Americans!

  • The budget surplus was the result of the inflationary dotcom bubble the fed created. There was still massive debt. The Fed created another bubble, the housing bubble, and now thats blown up. Our economic problems are caused by the Federal Reserve and central economic planning, not free markets. People like Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, Jim Sinclair, and many others have been warning us about the economy. They told us the economy would crash and it did. So listen to the people who were right.

  • I think you mean the Yuan, the currency of China - the Yen is the currency of Japan. But I do agree with the rest of your argument, Slimdaddy.

  • oops, thanks for the correction GlobalSufi

  • Government used to work for the people, just like it's working in Europe (the EU) now. They seem to have a good mix of free enterprise and government to serve their citizens. Ever since we got off the gold standard, and offshored our jobs due to global capitalism, we've created huge pockets of unemployment and underemployment in the U.S. It's global capitalism that's killing us! We have cheap Chinese products now, but low retail salaries as well. Our economy CANNOT support us anymore!

  • Unfortunately Ron Paul is not running, I have no idea who is the lesser evil now...I must resign to the fact that I'm stuck.

Gramm is a crackpot who needs a psychiatrist to be able to discern the difference between imaginary and reality.

  • President Obama!

  • President Obama!
