  • Stunning tumbling, but nothing beats Lillia's. I simply love her performance.

  • She did that last pass better than anyone else. Strong kick out of the tuck position right at the vertical with lots of power and height. Incredible.

  • 9.825

  • Out of the American Team... i think Kerri's compulsory routine was the best.

  • I love this music.

  • This routine was very much improved for Kerri....especially in the dance....she always owned the tumbling.....great job.

  • at 1:06 she was supposed to hold her leg up and she didn't her compulsorie set didn't deserve to be in the 9.8's at all. She shouldn't of gotten higher the lilia or miller

  • @luv4cookie1 yeah i don't get how lilipod only beat strug by .025 on this compulsory exercise.... beats me....

  • Kerri really worked hard on this routine. We were so happy for her.

  • Looks like her left ankle was already injured even before her team optionals vault. It's wrapped up here.

  • Looking at Kerry really moves some feelings on me. I can see all the effort, the fighting on her face. She was so focused on each event. And we all know she was better on training than in competition. She really made a good job fighting with some ghosts. Im only talking about her, not the team. Good for Kerry!!!

  • She had amazing power and spark on floor, but I can't believe she outscored Lilia on floor compulsories + team optionals combined (as someone has claimed on another vid).

This routine was all about flexibility and control, and there's several split positions not hit here. She's precise, sure, but her back leg lacks extension in multiple leaps.

  • I think it's because Lilia stepped out of bound during team optionals. I looked at the scores, and she was less than .1 behind.

  • yes lilia was the absolute master of the dance but you have to admit Kerri owned the tumbling bar none!!!!!

  • @mmoran3 ummm no. Amanar, Dawes, Milosovici, Gogean, Kochetkova, Ji Liya, were all better tumblers than Kerri.

  • @theobosking um noo are u watching the same video,, she absolutley flew on that first pass,, hell in the commentator said it ,, her dance?? nawww but she tumbled and , the only one on your list i would agree "possibly" is Amanar,, she was super high too but Milo ??? come on,,,,,,,,,,,,and Kotchecova,, yes high but not as high,, yes i like Dawes but she didnt explode like kerri,, and im not showing favs,, i LOVE dawes and amanar but lets b real

  • @mmoran3 there is more to tumbling than amplitude. Kerri's form and technique on tumbling is quite flawed.

  • @theobosking True,, but ill have to say that Shannon Millers dance and presentation was way better,, BUT they put Kerri Last in the Line up for 1 REASON ,, "THE Strenght" of her tumbling,, and her first pass, the punch front to flip flop, layout full was perfect minus the landing ,, second pass was not a power tumble pass, she could have done better on the roll up splits,, 3 pass great ,so im just commenting on the high and power,, she did great,, ps Amanar tumbled good but with better form

  • @mmoran3

I like the tubling more from Lillia because she holds her arm besids her in het full twist, I did not see any of the competitiors do that so well as Lillia did!

  • @mmoran3 I agree with you completely......Kerri would have given Lilia a run for her money had she not been injured

  • @mmoran3 Not really. On the first pass, Keri's last jump was not high, and she barely lifted her back leg. Lilia flew into the rafters and her body position was absolutely perfect. Also on that first pass, Keri doesn't make the elements flow; power isn't much without style.

  • yeah I agree. I think she had the power and tumbling, but Lilia was just brilliant. Too bad you couldn't combine the 2 routines.

  • @Peaceplatform The only reason Kerri qualified over Lilia for floor was Lilia's big step out of bounds in team optionals on floor. In compulsory floor Lilia outscored Kerri. In team options Kerri was outscored by Amanar, Gogean, Dawes, tied by Moceanu, and would have been outscored again easily by Lilia without her OOB. In other words without her OOB in team optionals Lilia easily qualifies for finals higher than Kerri. I still agree Kerri was overscored especialy on compuslory floor.

  • Why is it whenever the Americans do well in a competition the Euro-trash comes on here to bash them? It's pretty pathetic, actually...you see it on anything 1984 on here you youtube....a bunch of sour grape assholes!

  • I totally agree

  • that's okay, cause American gym fans are still bitching about Beijing. i'm an american and even I wish they would just shut the hell up already.

  • I can see what you are saying, but in 84, if you watch the routines of Retton then the routines of Mostepanova, it's pretty obvious who was better. What the Europeans traditionally have and the Americans are slightly lacking in is Artistry.

  • @twilliger123 Totally agree. They can't stand it or accept it when an American win in ANY country. Disgusting and xenophobic.

  • i hate how they have the same routine... reminds me of when i was in level four. lmao i got so tired of that freakin music playing all the time!! ya know?

  • Tip for the future - Dont watch this performance after Lilia Podkopayeva's compulsory floor routine...........not good!

  • Amen!

American gymnasts typically look muscular, and not artistic ......

They will never be on the same par as former Soviet athletes, I mean, NEVER !

  • I think the most artistic moment in womens gymnastics is displayed during Kim Zemeskal's run up to the vault...if you can......go watch! lol.....lots of power, as graceful as I dunno what!

  • Im not sure I know where you mean....

But yes, Americans are not artistic because they are so muscley and stout compared to the lean and lithe Russians/Chinese.

  • Comment removed

  • LiliPod is not lean, but not stout either..just right. LiliPod's routine flows with ease and Kerry's looks kinda jerky and forced.

Another good one is Mo Helien's....it would be a tough call for me between the two...

  • Lilia is not lean? Seriously, youre wrong.

She is so perfect toned and long and lean and muscled in the right way.....

Mo Huilan is also excellent yes although I would say Lilia was better (in my opinion)

  • @xiang7777 Oh, give it a rest. Russian hasn't medaled in Olympic or World competition in how many years now? The past is the past. Geez.

  • Or, don't watch this one unless you are looking for comedic relief.

  • Kerri was the anchor on so many of the routines during the compulseries and optionals, it was awesome to see someone always in the shadows of Miller and Moceanu finally get her time in the light. Those were her olympics by far

  • I would have scored this routine: 9.825.

  • kerri strug is so ugly i hate her and her gymnastics what a sloppy routine she suxxxxxxxxxxx man she is so weird. romanians are the only good gymnasts. americans have no artistry she cant even do a hard routine. moceanu is so sloppy. they didnt even deserve a team medal they SUUUUUUUUUCK those americans and every other country.

  • Whoops :) I didn't have enough room to post the rest. A rude person called romaniangymnast posted that on my video of Kerri. Do you agree or disagree?

  • I completely diagree. How absurd and rude, and sad really.

I have been a life-long fan of Romanian gymnastics, but to say such things about Strug, just bad sportsmanship. Her compulsery floor was not sloppy, and the Romanians did no better on this very presice routine.

As for every other country, I geuss that includes Lilli? Arguably the best gymnast ever to grace a mat? Well, that is just silly really

  • are you trying to talk like you are smart becuase guess what?? YOUR NOT

  • Maxy7792, why are you attacking me, when you and I agree that Kerri is wonderful? All I said was that the Romanians ARE good, but that so is Kerri, and many other gymnasts! As for being "smart", I don't know where you are coming from. I was defending Strug, whose routine is clearly not sloppy. I have also said that I think she would have medeled if she had been able to compete in event finals.

  • no romanians suck kerri strug is one of the best hse is in the fantastic 7 are the romanians? no! so shut your friggen gob

  • you want to talk about lack of artistry? Look at Gogean, Amanar, and Milo and tell me they are artistic gymnasts.

  • @caramelcreamsauce Um, Romanians aren't exactly famous for their artistry, genius. Hello?

  • i think had she not gotten hurt in the team finals that she couldve had 3 more medals around her neck. a bronze in all around ( no way anyone could surpass lilipod) a gold on floor and a medal on vault

  • i dont think she wuld have taken floor gold. lilia was too good.

  • Yes, Lilipod was unsurpassable. Such beauty and grace! Next time you should not be a racist about gymnastics.

  • Three Golds is a little much. Three more medals were certainly possible, but I'm not sure that any of them would have been gold. Floor would have been her best shot at gold, but Lilia would have had to been a little off and she certainly wasn't. Kerri could have medaled in the AA though, but would have needed to do a cleaner beam routine than in the team competition.

  • I agree.I do think Strug would have medeled, though, but not gold. I think she had that determination, and things might finally have fallen in to place for her to at least win a bronze, it is a shame.

  • I watched Podkopayeva's routine before this one. Bad decision.

  • hahahahaha!!!!! you're right!!

  • This routine clearly enhanced the lines of those that could dance like Podkopayeva, and Marinescu-and glaringly enhanced the lines of those who could not..

  • Marinescu could not tumble though and Strug sure could. Podkopayeva was by far better then either since she had the right combination of tumbling and dance.

  • Marinescu COULD tumble. She did a full twisting double back, and a triple twist in her optional routine. What do you mean-if that's not tumbling for the day I don't know what is. And above all-she could DANCE unlike her teammates and showed good lines. Strug has NO ARTISTRY in comparison. Of course Podkopayeva beat them all. And Alexandra's tumbling in compulsories was excellent-nothing wrong with it and she again showed better lines and Grace than her teammates.

  • Well it is all relative. Marinescu couldnt tumble as well as Amanar, Gogean, Podkopayeva, Milo, Strug, Dawes, Moceanu, Galieva, Grosheva, Kochetkova, Huilan, Liya, Yuanyuan, Sheremeta, so basically there were a ton of women who were superior tumblers to her. Yeah compared to Khorkina or Liu Xuan her tumbling would be good but not compared to most of the other noteable gymnasts here. I agree her dance was nice though, better then the other Romanians except maybe Gogean.

  • she looks a little frantic in her moves.

  • i like this routine better than Lilia Podkopayeva...

  • You've got to be kidding..

  • no. i'm not kidding. i think kerri's dance/presentation is better than Lilia's. thats my opinion and i'm sticking to it!

  • Apples and oranges then. We are all entitled to our views. *shrug*

  • yeah, well i guess some people prefer the smell of shit over a rose...

  • I just watched podkopayeva do this routine... yes about being able to tell which are the dancers! Hahaha!

  • her floor looks easy!

  • That's because this is the compulsory routine, not the optional--each gymnast performs the exact same routines.

  • you can def. tell which gymnasts r the dancers and the ones that r not...wish they could have kept them
