Thanks Andreas :) I can't say I have really practiced this one. Played through it twice, then re-listened to Riley's recording, played through it once more (fiddling with the closing bars until I found something I liked) and then recorded it in one go. I wish it was always that easy :D
That´s a very nice and expressive performance, Chris! I also have promised Riley to record it and I´m actually practising on it. It´s really a nice atmospheric piece and I like the "program".
Wow! Thanks, Chris! A Fine Job! I would say you have achieved the feeling of stalemate in your phrasing, though you say you do not play chess. Your fingering is interesting and the perfect fourth between the major seventh in the right hand was quite a surprise! Not in a bad way, and I thought the very low C gave the piece more depth. I really appreciate this, thanks again.
I often take notes in the middle voice by the other hand if that suits better. I Guess that is what you noted on fingering.
I'm glad you don't mind my alteration of the closing bars. Your 1st version was nice with the emphatic landing on the high E, but after that it was a bit too drawn out. The 2nd version, though harmonically more interesting, was a bit bare. I tried to combine the ideas of the two. Be interested what Andreas will make of it, probably something quite different.
