  • "make the body as light as possible and fit and engine big enough to bend time" good work tvr

  • tvr i mean

  • goose bumps when that trv took off

  • hahah AWESOME! Thanks for posting :) Fuck all these guys crying about it being unsafe and going fast......its got a V8 for a reason........

  • My husband has a Chimaera 500, engine sounds so aggresive I feel like my heart is going to explode right out of my body

  • what a dickhead! take your car to a trackday so the only person you kill is you!

  • excellent !

  • As they say, TVR's are great if you want a car that is lairy to drive, breaks all the time and smells like a fiberglass canoe factory. They are fast, but as Jeremy would say...

"Hand made in England....Handmade is just another way of saying the doors are going to fall off."

    Both great cars IMO

  • Very cool Vid, I'm huge Porsche fan but your TVR sounds amazing!

  • put a supercharger kit from sc power in ur car and try again now it ll be the porsche chasing u all over the place ahahah

  • Ah Man, what a sound! Thanks for posting! I drove my Chim up to Helsinki and back in the summer and this has brought back many happy memories! Absolutely ruled on the Autobahns and when we got into the Scandinavian woods *BLISS*

Only downshifted once to overtake, 5 cars & 3 caravans on a backwoods road, and was past 120 by the time we were level with the 2nd driver!

  • on a straight the chim would fuck it up :) 911 betta handling

  • To be fair the 911 was much quicker

  • just 20 years between each other and the porsche is still better.

  • Geezuz! That Porsche was shifting at 1:17 when he dropped a gear. I can't afford either but for me you see a lot of Porsche's but TVR's are rare and to my eye look better :-)

  • i love tvr's!!!!!! <3

  • TVR... beautiful sound ... 911 sounds nice too.

  • I had a race down the A470 few days back with my golf against this type of TVR and mate if you read this it was a ball of fun :).

Shame i had to go for a call of nature.

Love the sound these cars make.

  • Driving a chim is all about fun. There are quicker cars around. But you would be hard pressed to buy anything as fun as a chim for the same money. A sub 900kg full tube chassis covered in a selection of easy to obtain mass produced parts. It offers a nimbleness and balanced neutral steering that you just can't get from a porsche.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy driving both brands, but I'd rather own and maintain the chim. In fact, I'm inspired to go see whats for sale online lol. :)

  • I thought a 911 turbo was supposed to be alot faster than the Chimaera, but to be honest it was'nt that much faster. I bet a Tuscan or Cerb would have mangled the porsche.

  • The Porsche in the clip is over 20 years old get a 998 turbo and its goodbye TVR

  • And? I was talking about the 911.

  • Sorry didnt mean to sound so confrontational, Ive had a bad day :D. I just meant to say, I was told porsche 911 turbo was alot lot faster when it didnt seem to be in the vid.

  • It's ok i was just stating the TVR is at least 15 years newer then the Porsche if you were to compare it to a 993 or 996 turbo of the same age you would see a big difference.

  • f1 the pinnacle of motorsport, name one american make?we`ve got 1.8 caterhams that will piss on anything out of the us.also have you beaten that thrust ssc time yet?he he battered in your own backyard.

  • ha ha, like when you brought the gt 40 over in the sixtys won once or twice and since then...........................nothing.

  • Love tvr's but that 911 had you licked mate

  • Just get a nice shot of the Porsche's number plate... (0:45)... Ah there we go! That should do!

    LOL

  • Ok. im not selling mine

  • Ye that turbo was deff quicker. If it was a 500 it would have done a bit better over 100. I think you should get it supercharged lol Thats what i plan to do with my griffith 500 then it will have 500bhp!!!!!! Keep up with that mr porsche!

  • hes obviously an england hating yank, having a girly pop at lucas gauges and saying the porsche kicks its ass!!ha ha not surprised hes spitting his dummy as american cars arent worth a cunt.

  • Yeah you say that shit over seas but you won't come over here talk shit cause you know there's plenty of Camaros, Corvettes, Vipers and Buick GN's that would whoop the shit out of most porsches.

  • i doubt it,ha ha, bring any "nascar" to england and it will get its fat yank ass wasted, especially round corners ha ha ha ha ha

  • You know what your totally right we don't bring Nascars out over seas to you guys because instead we bring the C6-R and GTS-R to lemans to win championships!.

  • I'm from France, but i know how the british roads are, American sports cars don't fit in small & narrow european roads, but porsche and TVR are kinda small and light compared to American cars, they have the advantage on real European roads (i'm not talking about the highway which is the racing field of the average jerk, i'm talking for gentleman drivers). The Americans make great cars but they forgot one thing, real driving include manual gearboxes and CORNERS.

  • even match

  • Lucas gauges huh? Neither the Tach or speedometer were working. Sounds good, but The Porshe really does kick your ass.

  • you drove like that wile filming!? thats some serious talent you got there boy... and incerdible sounding car btw, i would take a chimaera over a dozen porsches

  • i love the sound of your tvr. those griffith engines sound the best.

  • but ill let you off as you were filming,he he

  • he got the drop on ya at 1;18

  • There is no sound like the RV8 and not much around that can match its pace especially in a light car such as a Chim or Grif. The 430BV is quick but a 500HC might just have had the last laugh!. Great clip.

  • Yea from 0-60 she is quick but from 100 plus the 930 is just getting going, 3rd gear (4spd) and on boost and its gone !!! yea my friend from aus had a 964 turbo with about 400bhp and bugger me side ways that was quick and handled like it was on rails! i would have one of those in a shot but there just out the price range !

  • Confess that I don't know the TVR range inside out. But from my own experience of following a hard-driven Chimaera, leaving roundabouts in 1st and 2nd gears, I had to lift to avoid going into the back of the TVR..

Same thing happens with the previous generation of BMW M3s (E46).

Now a TVR Cerbera (or beter) - that would be an entirely different proposition - they are quick! Yikes!

  • Well i have just bought a tuscan that no dout will be shown on here too and the little Chimaera would of given it a race to 100mph. Trust me it leaves m3 and pulled away by two car lengths of a friends galardo to 100

  • Yip - on your other ('Blakey') video, it does look pretty, damn quick! ;o)

I've seen one 930 look just that quick. It was leaving a Dyno day - having just pulled 520bhp.. (TVRs are so much lighter.)

I'd prefer a 'Blackpool Rocket' (TVR) to a Corvette, any day.

  • Watched it again, I think the 930 would take care of business.

  • well matched pair!!!!
