  • It's time they retire this one too, just like Gus. Is that "Five Cash Fives" girl Ann Curry from the Today Show?

  • @TheCmac0416 No way! I hope they NEVER retire this classic !!

  • See ya "Gus" He got the pink slip from the PA Lottery today (no more TV, just print ads)

    - You know the economy is crap when a puppet gets fired.

  • I always look forward to seeing Rita and Jim every year. :)

  • I've been looking for this on youtube for years. FINALLY.

  • I wonder if "Joe" is even still alive....and the Asian girl probably laughs whenever she sees this

  • I was born in 1992 and I've been seeing this commercial my entire life. I hope that they never stop playing it as long as I live haha.

  • I was only 1 when this commercial first aired... It's always been my favorite Christmas commercial!! It always reminds me of my grandpa because he was obsessed with the PA lottery.. It's not Christmas in PA until this comes on! :)

  • It's not Christmas in PA unless this commercial airs. I was three years-old when this first aired. It's a part of my childhood.

  • GREAT GIFT!

  • friggin rite!

  • love this on tv before christmas i celebrate christmas

  • I wonder if both old guys, the one with the ticket and the one at the end receiving one in the newspaper stand are still alive. If they're dead, the PA lottery is showing two dead people in their commercial lol. It's like the commercial with Dixie Carter for people with their head that always droops to the side and to get help for it. It still aired even after she first died.

  • @dxrocks06

I've wondered the same thing, in fact, I half wonder if any of them are still alive...

  • Narpin ~ Can't thank enough. I remember searching and searching for this and finally you messaged me and told me you uploaded it. It truly isn't the holidays until this little gem airs. Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

  • You would think by now the PA Lottery would make a new commercial instead of recycling this old one. When I saw it the other day on 6ABC, I said to myself that they had to be using that same one for appx. 20 years. Your video info here confirmed it. 1992 and it's still being used.

  • Brings me back memories! Watched it every holiday season as a Pennsylvanian boy! I posted the 2011 version!

  • Man I really hate this ad. Every year, I gotta hear it several times a day. Awful. Just awful.

  • IT HAS BEGUN !!!! Just saw this commercial tonight on Jeopardy on WPVI 6 ABC -- 1/11/11, the day after Halloween. Not even Thanksgiving yet, and Joe is already giving Rita that lotto ticket.

Year 19 of the classic 'Snowflake' ad is now upon us!

  • @Narpin I saw it too. I can never remember it being played so early

  • whoever posted this. you are the best man to ever lived..i could never find this on here. and i thank you ^ ^

  • @voltron5 You are far too kind.

I had to upload it. A few years ago I was living in Phoenix and telling all my native Arizona friends about this commercial and it wasn't on Youtube, so I couldn't show them. As soon as I moved back to PA I knew I had to capture this classic and get it on Youtube.

  • where's the original 1992 version?

  • It's a PA classic, true...you know its Xmas when this commercial comes on. But I see the "Gus the Groundhog" ads more than this one..shame.

Personally, I am pretty happy to these are over and done with, until November. Especially the Christmas car ads (Cadillac, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, etc) ..those should end by tonight thank God!

  • @scrapplecheesesteak I'm going to miss the Christmas Hyundai commercials. That girl who sings the Christmas songs is mighty pretty. I'd take her and a side of cheese fries anyday!!

  • @Narpin Her name is Nataly Dawn, a duo called "Pomplamoose." (I looked them up a few weeks ago..lol) They are on here and seem to do a lot of cover tunes.

I never mind the commercials at first, but when you see them over and over again, especially during an Eagles game...It gets very old I suppose, for me at least. Maybe it's just the small scrooge in me also.

  • @Narpin I liked her too actually, it was the 30something year old white rappers driving in a mall parking lot that drove me insane.

  • this came out in 1992? then i was 1 when it came out too. lol

  • OMG! i loveeee this commercial. thanks to you, i'll be able to watch this in July or whenever time of year, i got tired of waiting til the holiday season to see this.

  • MY GOD IM SO GRATEFUL YOU POSTED THIS. I've been searching forever! Ever since I left the tri-state area, at least.

  • You know its christmas in pa when this commercial comes on..I was 1 when it premired

  • @pedward1991 , what an AWESOME story! Thanks for sharing. I was the one who posted this to youtube. I love this commercial. Two years ago, I was living in Phoenix AZ at Christmas, and it was the only year in memory when i *DIDN'T* see this commercial. At that time I went onto Youtube to look for it. I'd told some of my Phoenix friends about it, and wanted to show it to them. I was so disappointed it wasn't on Youtube. This year I decided to take matters into my own hands, and post it myself.

  • @Narpin that is so cool..ill be a total legend in my family when i tell them i was able to converse with a member of this commercial..its so cool that one commercial has lasted so long and its a great tradtion for Christmas time in pa..one of the best parts of the holiday season is the first time seeing this commercial (this year it was in my dorm room) for the first time each winter

  • THIS IS THE BEST holiday commercial! Thanks for uplaoding it to YouTube. I'm in the commercial. I am the only African American man - one of the Christmas Carolers! We made this back when I was in GRAD School at PITT in October of 1992. It first aired right after Thanksgiving that year. The money I earned helped to pay for school. GREAT Memories! Plus, my kids get to see dad on TV every Christmas season :-)

  • @Tbutts2140 Do you still get paid royalties for this commercial?

  • @Tbutts2140 oh you stared in this commercial, not narpin, my bad, anyway that so cool you were in this commercial its the best one bar none and theres nothing like lounging on your couch on xmas break with a warm fire going and watching this a few days before Christmas..it keeps me young

  • I live in SC now and miss seeing this commercial every Christmas season. Thanks for uploading it. Like theoneandonly09 said I use to see this on kdka all the time back home. Good memories.

  • thank u for uploading. every year kdka shows this commercial during the christmas season. glad its on youtube now.

  • Thank you for posting this video. It is one of the best things about christmas, as it has been ever since I was a small kid.

  • haha it's just not christmas without FIIIVE CAAASSHHHH FIIIIIVESSSSS!

  • The greatest PA Lottery commercial ever!!!!!! Thank you so much for putting this on youtube!

  • I FUCKING HATE this commercial! I think it's been even longer than since 1992. It's annoying as hell.

  • Respond to this video... the longevity of this commercial is the beauty of it, man..ever heard of tradition..its a great feeling to know i was watching this commercial when i was playing with blocks in my old tiny house with my dad working 90 hour weeks striving to make partner and still watching it while doing killer economic homework in my dorm room (luckily my dad has since made partner)..reminds of the good old days of no worries and care free livin

  • Narpin you just made my day!! Can't thank you enough for sending me this. It truly isn't Christmas until you see this commercial. I'm 24 now and remember seeing this every holiday season since I was a kid. I guess that's why it puts a smile on my face everytime I see it ..the fact it's still being played after all these years. How did you know it started in 1992? Thanks again!!! & Happy Holidays!!

  • @Mattyg819RKO I think it's because it's a silly commercial. I'm 27 and I enjoy watching it every year.
