Nice calc! Yes, it's definitely a VFD display. A display type which has a lot in common with the old vacuum tubes.
Some of the numbers are a little dim. If you know someone with electronic skills you might consider chancing the old and tired capacitors of the onboard inverter with polyester types. I did it a Japanese Rockwell and it really improved the display to good as new.

I got one too. When you calculate huge numbers it calculates quet slow when you watch the display.

Wow! Cool!...I collect those! there pretty neat :-)
I think that is a VFD screen, although I could be wrong as just about every company has there own way of doing things.
