  • Absolutely fantastic! Amazing, really! BRAVO!

  • She surely has the pipes and the presence to become a first-rate soprano and actress. If she continues her training, by the time she's 22 she'll be able to sing for her supper (meaning, of course, that she could likely make it a career).

  • H.o.l.y.c.o.w.14????? You keep on training your voice, girl. Cause you have an amazing natural talent.

  • Ha nice job Hannah, I was the sarge in mine. Lol TARANTARA.

    Your voice is stunning

  • i got mabel omg so excited:)

  • This poor girl has talent desperately in search of a teacher and above all a good coach.

  • this is middle school?! holy shit, this is absolutely incredible. i am blown away.

  • well Adelina Patti made her operatic debut at 16 singing Lucia and it didn't seem to bother her voice as she reigned the opera world for another 40 years as a high coloratura soprano, so to this young girl I say, right on- go on like this! Ernesto

  • yaya i got mabel too(:

  • Wow Hannah Has A Wicked Voice!

I Got The Part Of Mabel.. Cant Wait To Do it !!

  • I just got the part of Mabel in our school play!! I'm so excited! This mabel did excellent by the way! :)

  • Guys cant we appriciate Hannah she is one of the most versitile singers i have EVER seen

and true most voices are not developed this young she is ddiffrent i have seen her and there is absolutly no straining!

  • Brava - I am blown away. Not only is this young lady the approximate age that Mabel is actually supposed to be, this has got to be one of the most musical and sensitive interpretations on YouTube. For my own selfishness, I'm glad we get to hear her sing now, regardless of what happens in the future. And don't forget, Beverly Sills was performing Caro Nome at this age, high D sharps and all. Can't say it harmed her any!

  • Is this a Broadway Jr.production? My middle school is doing PoP Jr. and I'd like to use this version as an inspiration (I'm going out for Mabel) but I'm not sure if this is a Jr. production therefore it may be changed.

Beautiful performance (and costumes must I say) and I can only hope that our production, from just seeing this clip, will be as wonderful as yours.

  • You have a beautiful voice! Stick with it, and don't listen to any criticism that isn't constructive.

  • Thank you for sharing your music. Not only does performing in front of a live audience require bravery, posting it on youtube requires the toughest skin one can muster. That was a very beautiful rendition and all should be applauded. No need to pay attention to nay-sayers.

  • I know everyone is alotted their own opinion but seriously? She is great. Esepecially for a middle schooler.

  • Are you SERIOUS?! This girl is in MIDDLE school... and for that, she negotiated this difficult song very well! She has excellent placement for her age, and, as a trained singer (as I assume you are), you might guess that her bright "timbre" is due to her young age. Her voice will, no doubt, gain richness as she gets older. And, the Db was there. Bet you couldn't hit that when you were her age.

  • Well, I think someone who is aged 12-14 has time to develop a more pleasing timbre, don't you? Don't you think it's a little early to make a determination like that?

I guess you need to get out and hear more talented young people perform so you can have some perspective from which to comment.

  • you really don't know what you're talking about, that was absolutely beautiful. especially for a girl of her age. she's fourteen. and she's incredible. get a life.

  • I'm sorry, but when she's singing adult repertoire I'm going to compare her to other adults, who in this case have a lot more training and a sound which is more appropriate to this role. She's really good for a FOURTEEN year old; unfortunately, in a sing-off with Joan Sutherland, for example, she's going to lose. With me, if you choose to sing this repertoire I'm not comparing you with other kids your age, I'm comparing you to professionals.

Oh, and I have a life, sweetie.

  • I'm afraid you don't know what you are talking about. If you want to compare her voice with Sutherland, compare it to Sutherland at age 14. I would bet that this girl would compare favorably with her.

This girl has a much lighter voice type than Sutherland but that makes at her age.

With the poor recording quality I have to say that this girl has an amazing voice. Who knows where she'll be in 20 years. Brava!

  • @LaMostraESopra I agree with everyone else. This girl is amazing for her age. Of course she has a lot to work on, but at this age, who doesn't? You're a fool.

    Amazing job in this performance!!

  • @LaMostraESopra I have heard adults TRY to sing this, and fail. This young lady is to be commended for her musical maturity. Whether or not you are to be commended for comparing her to Joan Sutherland is another matter entirely.

  • this was middle school? she had a good voice for middle school...

  • this is too advanced for middle school anyway.

  • it just depends on the middle school.

  • this repetoire is still not good for young voices regardless of ability.

  • I concur. Young voices should not be pushed too hard - most reputable teachers I know will not teach under 16s, and certainly won't let them go near this sort of music. The voice isn't anywhere near fully developed at this stage, especially for a soprano.

  • (That was a reply to katesinger, btw - don't know what went wrong there).

  • Her young voice was not pushed in singing this role. I know, because I was the director of this production! As a soprano and teacher of singing, I would much rather have this young talented soprano building technique on G & S than some of the crap that young singers lean towards these days.

  • Unfortunately, if you listen to any young girl who sings that high then listen again ten years' later, their voies are nothing compared to what they wer - the soprano voice does not mature until the 20s. Opera and operetta teachers will not teach under 16s. Renowned writers on the subject state that "Very few singers are vocally mature before the age of 25" and it is for this reason that the more reputable vocal teachers and music colleges do not take students under the age of at least 21.

  • Of course her voice is not fully mature, but that is not a reason to not singing literature that is within her vocal and musical capability. I would venture to say the reason for some singers not reaching their full potential is that because they are so naturally gifted in their youth, they fail to learn the discipline of singing or become convinced through admiring family and friends that they have already "arrived," so they do not study and practice.

  • "letmich", this is not true. My voice teacher works with youngsters, with great results. You can check my videos, too (Elise Curran). I sang *super* high notes in my teens, from high C to double high C, and I still have them at 48. Coloratura voices mature quite early, and dramatic voices mature later. btw, EVERY college I know takes voice students starting about about age 17 or 18, not 21. But folks who don't feel comfortable teaching young voices should undoubtedly stay away from them.

  • I started taking from my opera teacher when I was 14.

  • i really think this isnt the greatest ive heard

  • she hit every note...just great..hope she seriously gets into this

  • yes, i hope i can sing like this someday ;)

    i love this song :)

  • wow, you're good. better than most of the singers your age here on youtube.

  • no way. so jealous!!! our middle school could never do this. we have people who could sing this (including myself, i think), but we could never pull this off. the chorus would be less operatic, and our costumes are nothing compared to this. seriously, we actually have to get our own this year. its impossibel. we're doing oliver. they dont sell those clothes anymore!!! BTW, i'm a hannah too!

  • Should middle schoolers be singing this?!?!?! Travesty!!!!!

  • NO...maybe you think they should be singing "Cats" or crap like that! THANK GOD for the people in charge, teaching these young people worthwhile literature, and doing such a great job of it, too! BRAVI!!!

  • What Sondheimgirl said. :)

    you are amazing. Phenomenal.

And I truly, truly love your voice.

  • Wow! I saw you do Climbing Up Hill at Jr. Thespians State Competition and I though what an amazing belt, and then I see this. WOW you are truly gifted. Like truly. Please continue with singing.

  • Amazing.....I can barley speak.

  • Hannah is AMAZING! are you SURE this is middle school?? ;)

  • Wow, what a pair of powerful pipes!!! Fab voice!!!!

  • What grade are you in?

Such great top notes for one so young.

  • That was last May, I had just turned 14.

  • SHUT UP.

Are you planning on going into vocal performance?

Wow, such a mature I like wanna fall over.

  • Good for a middle school!
