• Hapkido isn't an MMA style of martial art. It is primarily self defense. Most of the stuff used in Hapkido isn't meant for going up against experienced fighters, it's designed for defending against muggers, thugs, bullies, etc. You guys should try or at least research Hapkido before you go trolling.

  • @ fastkid, bro to tell u the truth i was a wimp in highschool my freshman year, i was 12 goin on 13 everyone was twice my size, it wasnt until i was 16 that i got tired of the shit an got into my first fight that i realized wat my uncle had always told me, everyone has a breaking point, an when that time comes u will have no more fear, ever since then i looked at things much differently especially when i realized i had a good right cross lol

  • Am I the only one who notices the belt at the beginning of the video is knotted wrong? lol

  • looks just like jujitsu to me, i love how koreans can take a martial art give it a korean name an capitilize on it, also most of that stuff that u see on this video DOES NOT WORK on the street, if any of u are wondering i have 16 years in jujitsu, ive also trained in judo an bjj, an i have 3 full contact mma fights under my belt not to mention numerous street fights

  • @TheChazmaro I feel like that would be so use full. I got into a fight my freshman year in the hall way with some guy. He threw a punch and i grabbed it and twisted his arm and dislocated his shoulder. Ever since then i have always wanted to do that but never knew when it come handy again because no one wants to fight me.... :P

  • they love to overeact the ol koreans dont they, imagine if you went to mug this old man lol...

  • Shaking hands Kung Fu. Imagine being in a street fight. Wait wait wait don't punch my face here grab my wrist and just see what happens. LOL

  • @sickboiswagger @aliens301 It is actually much harder than a real right because in a real fight we know how to respond quickly and in lethal fashion. I've been practicing for 8 years, 2nd degree black belt going to 3rd. Demo's are harder because we are using more complex moves and both people have to coordinated. In a real fight I just have to react and finish the person off, as long as he is dispatched, effective self defense. The guys arm would just break if he did what he did.

  • @sickboiswagger DO YOU HAVE ANY MA TRAINING IF SO WHAT?

  • good acting but in real fight in MMa match, you cant win

  • that old guy moves really really fast 0.o

  • thats what a hybrid martial art is guys. It takes the useful stuff from many styles

  • I meant: insincere bow. That's just a demo: no contest there

  • Man withholds his vow, full of ego self, defends vs. compliant uke. Not impressed.

  • i vote for black uniforms plz!

    XD

  • That's the best hapkido I've seen yet

  • Fake martial arts are nearly meaningless.

  • Remind me not to shake that dudes hand...-_-

  • 1:31- 1:34 If that's not the hokiest shit I've ever seen in my life, I don't know what is.

  • This looks good and all but no one is gonna get in a fight and start grabbing your hands or wrist. I wanna see da young guy take a real swing at the old man and then I'll know if hapkido is real or not. Perhaps get George at Pierre in there.

  • What's the name of this Master?

  • This is the problem I have with Hapkido and aikido for that matter; you can't tell if it really works because there is so much acting.

  • @tank4805 If applied with proper technique: it will, believe me. You should try a lesson or seminar to experience it yourself!

  • oh,i am really sorry.this movie is great.

is he Che sensei that origin of Korean aikido?

  • Korean fake style....there is no reason(理)..korean can't understand.even if not compared to Japanese...

pls watch the movies of Jet Lee and Jacky Chen, but its Kungfu.the basic of martial art is same.they know the method of breath and adjusting with forth: Ki (気) korean ignore basically natural rule.

  • that old guy kicks ass but i also give kudos to that guy getting beat up for not falling apart that also must take some serious skillzz

  • Amazing

  • It's a lot like Aikido

  • @SiquelaTrevisan well sort of, i am currently learing hapkido and i have had a look at Aikido but the main difference that i found in practicality would be the pain factor.

from what i know of hapkido the screams in the vidio would be genuine =)

  • @SiquelaTrevisan That's because it stems from aikido.

  • @anonymousbecause and jujitsu

  • @WarriorNakMuay916 and other martial arts :P. LOL

  • @SiquelaTrevisan it is based on aikido duhhh

  • @SiquelaTrevisan I fairly new to the topic. how does hapkido aikido and Jiu jitsu all relate?

  • @FastKid26 Both Aikido and YulSul come from Daito Ryu Aiki JuJitsu. Master Choi learn Aiki Jujitsu from Master Takeda. Choi, returned to Korea and created a system that he simply called YulSul. Later he renamed it Hapkiyulsul. A student of Choi name Ji Han Jae took an ancient Korean style called Tae Kyun (not taekwondo) and combined it with Hapkiyulsul and made Hapkido. Currently there is somewhat of a split between Hapkiyulsul and Hapkido. The former remaining loyal to Master Choi's teachings.

  • @SiquelaTrevisan Hapkido is pretty different in the way the techniques are done. You'll notice his practice partner up there screaming in pain? He's not acting. Its agonizing to be in any one of those locks. Its specifically designed to break your body in the most sensitive points. This is what makes it a much more potentially dangerous art then Aikido.

  • This is just gansta

  • Fierce! The grab and break techniques.... Hapkido is Fierce!

  • Man, I don't even want to touch that old guy.

  • prearranged... this stuff was impressive in the 80's but not now. Who the heck grabs your wrist for every attack anyway? More impressive than the master are the students who can take the falls and locks so well.

  • One thing I really dislike about these kind of demos and most Korean demos in general is the cheap feel that is the result of the exaggerated reactions. I'm sure he has some genuine knowledge on how to make these techniques work, but the screaming ukes on the ground and the jumping in the air just makes me /facepalm. An uke of a rank high enough to take falls for a 'Master' such as this should be able to handle the pain from this kind of technique without showing off to make the master look good

  • As much as Virtua Fighter fans want taekwondo in future installments, I won't mind a hapkido fighter since I know the game developers couldn't fit in a lot of aikijujutsu reversals to Aoi.

  • flashy and staged but oh its done so good, brilliant!

  • @WorldOfIVillis that's because it's relatively uncommon for someone to attack with a kick, but trust me they have defenses for kicks

  • @MeestaNoName correct actually one of the first thing a hapkido student learns is how to flip and take a fall correctly or else become seriously injured, because hapkidos main focus is on crippling joint locks and bone jarring throws. To efectively incapacitate an opponent

  • So if the guy doesn't flip... he suffers a broken wrist/arm?

  • Nice with the combat applications, not convinced by the grab counters. Unfortunately you are not quite james bond :) Would be interesting to see knife defense.

  • Go take a Hapkido class, this man is how old ? The black belt knows what will happen if he doesn't movie fisrt. This man is a great master. Try it then talk you BS.

Am a 3rd, if he did not move fast he would be done. Your watching two people that know what they are doing. So no one gets hurt. Try it see how you make out fighting back LOL

  • c its kinda weird cuz he nvr showed what hed do when somone kicks him O_O

  • @WorldOfIvillis ya he didnt , i train taekwondo and hapkido and there are restraints from kicks. looks like he just wanted to show handshake restraints. encountering a person in real life who will try to kick you is not that often.

  • @falawful u nvr know lol

  • i hate watching these demos, so unrealistic.

  • @DMxNemesis ya me too somtimes they can be questionable but every once in a while you see one that is realistic. some of these techniques would be harder than others to do.

  • imagine if u fucked with that guy !

  • thanks for video, now im not gonna steal his wallet :D

  • shit that old man's dangerous >.>

  • This master's got aiki principles down packed; hate to be his uke

  • Can somebody tell me where can i learn this kind of Martial art in Malaysia ?

  • Beautiful..reminds me of American swing dancing and Jitterbug

  • Lol. I don't how swing dancing and jitterbug are done where you're from, but over here we try not to slam our partners to the floor.

    Most of the time. :)

  • stop at 1:33. If you see closely he doesn´t get touched. Or if he gets touched it wasnt for flying like a bombarded jet.

  • Yes, its a demonstration, hes not gonna smack his guy in the face.

  • 0:30

    looks like he's dying...lol

    hardcore master

  • he always looks like he is dying

  • hapkido and aikido both came from the same school.

Their respective creators were both taught by Takeda Sōkaku.

  • 5 stars

  • dude its hapkido, the sign in the back says hapkido, and also the techniques he has preformed are hapkido not aikido

  • You're an ignorant, This is hapkido! Aikido is an martial art, and hapkido is other martial art...¬¬

  • excelente

  • fuck mesn wif dat old dude

  • my gosh! poor man... LOL

  • Whoa - thats like twisted mean Aikido with kicks.

Old Geezer is vicious - no mercy.

  • I love the way the guy squirms after being put in the lock! LOL

  • lol this will make you think twice about picking on a guy in his p.j's

  • kregare is completlly wrong, aikido is an Marcial art that they teach u about Kick attacks, kick defenses, Ground fights, pressure points, and they actually teach u a little about Self-Defense, when a guy will punch u, u choose use the Self-Defense technics, when u have to attack u use your kicks, [I need to say that the kicks hurts alooooooot] and when the ground fight occuors u can use your Ground fight technics, and the pressure points? Can do u go down for a 3 years girl.... =)

  • first your unable to spell martial arts and second aikido has no whatsoever offensive attacks . The pressure points are only as efficient if you either have wery good technuiqe otherwise alot of the aikido can be deflected by strong wristmuscles

  • You seem very sure of what you are talking about. It´s a shame that you are so willyngly to show your ignorance and show yourself as a dumb person in front of those who know.

  • haha, this stuff is soo toned down man. bring that attitude when u face him and then come back to me. actually, bring that attitude and face me and see wat happens. no art is perfect, you have to mix, and u call upon those techniques as the situation calls for.

  • This stuff is definitely staged; they're clearly at a seminar or a demonstration. That doesn't mean this stuff is ineffective however. Just a couple points: Hapkido techniques are taught from the grab (shown here)but also from the parry/block, and even offensively( actually grabbing someone's limb and applying the technique). This master is clearly putting on a nice flashy show with this wrist grab stuff, but I promise you he knows to apply this to a real encounter. Hope this clears it up.

  • ya i take some hapkido classes they are fun

  • Comment removed

  • this is self defense. it also teachs yo how to move properly when someone try to punchs you.

  • what if he grabs u?

all martial arts teach all kinds of defense.

this is only a fraction of hapkido.

  • I'd LOVE to try and see you land a hook or an uppercut on that Master.

    I would PAY.

  • Makes me want to start back into Hoi Joon Mo Sool again.

  • Wow this guy is fantastic. I'm a black belt in taekwondo and this makes me wanna start hapkido to :)

  • hahaha old man kicks ass

  • Of course he does. The whole damn thing is choreographed.

  • hah lol

  • The Ultimate Martial Art. HAPKIDO

  • I often am not like the Korean Martial Arts, im only learn Japanese styles. But I sometimes am see Taekwondo people and they are never fight with hands up, is always down... Im Judo girl, so I never need use block, but is commen thinking, put hands up so you can easier to blocking xD But I guess this style is good! Is looking like the Aikido, or Aiki Jujutsu. Is cool! but... poor...poor Korean stunt guy... "AHHH!!!!" LOL is look so hurt!!! I hope he is get pay many money for do the demo!

  • @Kaori303 actually even if it's staged it still hurts i know i'm a first degree black belt and always the test subject in the class and even in demo's or stages we have so it's not because it's set up it doesn't hurt

  • AMAZING I LEARNED SUM STUFF XD

  • cool self defense

  • Why guy in white so tremble after each combo?

  • his last name is hapkido he is da masta does he know the camletoe no w8 the buttercup is the deadliest move ever.

  • I feel sorry for the dudes.

  • Hah hah Why there is in tags "hoi jeon moo sool"? It ain´t hapkido dudes, thought it has many same techniques. And who says hoijeonmoosool was copyed from hapkido by Jae Ok Myung is wrong, cause the roots of hjms are in somewhere between years 900-1000 and it was tought then with the name "Tolkye-Ryu". It was over 1000 years hidden, only taught by monks to their disciples and in year 1961 Myung met a buddhist monk who practiced a strange martial art he didn´t know.

  • Monk taught him that art and in 1972 Myung became the 127. grandmaster of Tolkye-Ryu and changed the name from old korea to newer language and then it became "hjms".

"hapkido" name is behind hjms sometimes cause those hapkido clubs he taught in followed him and started training hjms.

Like in Europe it´s usually just "Hoi Jeon Moo Sool".

Still those two arts have many similarities but still hjms isn´t a copy of hapkido.

  • Don`t believe all the things you read...

I know master myung, he firstly learn hapkido with his twin brother and make a mixture with the aikikai tecniques they learn in japan..

hjms is a mixture of ji han jae´S hapkido and aikido..

    Pd. Im 2º Dan HJMSL.

  • Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome

    Very very Tnx...

  • o.O looks similar to aikido. . .

    anyway, great video. :3

  • This is GM Yoon Sae Kwon...In Korea he is a MYTH!!! And a very respected Great Master...A legend!!!

    Really!

  • Most people think this is fake, but any1 who has practised hapkido knows that u flip to avoid breaking your arms and due to overpowering pain

  • AMEN. Taking a fall is much better than a broken wrist.

  • Wrist grabs were a common attack in medieval Korea, Japan, China, Europe as well. It was to stop the guy drawing his sword. Does not happen a lot nowadays, but can easily modify them to catch a low punch or similar

  • Mr Miyagi?

  • Where in the world or korea is this guy and what is his name?

  • How Old is this guy 0_0?

  • I guess its great if someone grabs your wrist, but how often does that happen in real life.

  • no, it looks impractical because its a demo but you can see how it would be used at 01:08 (he attempts to strike and the old guy grabs his wrist/arm and does the crazy flip thing to him).

  • (LIVE) --- Sept 1st 7pm

RioHeroes(.)com - Raw Fights Online
Bet with BetCRIS(.)com

  • Exactly.

  • almost how hapkido should look. the flow of aikido with the ferocity of traditional korean martial arts.

  • They may seem elaborate, but in less than a second hes prob hit the tendens in his arm which really really hurt, but also wrist minipulation is painful, then add the 10+ direcetions you can be moved to increase pain.

  • lol these throws seem so elaborate. but sometimes a good knee to the ribcage or head but to the face will do just as well

  • Grandmaster Chang Young-Shil

  • .....

messing with this old man aint a good idea.. LOl

  • OHHhhh YeaHHhhhhh

  • He moves pretty stinkin fast for an old guy. You should see another guy like this called Grandmaster Chang Young-Shil in Korea. The old guys are the ones you have to look out for. They have tricks up their sleeves called life experience.

  • 1 the dudes old and 2 its a freaken demonstration..sheesh

  • how would this now apply to a fight scenario?.... as long as you cause enough pain, and prohibit the opponent from moving, you basically won the fight. Not randomly kicking and punching which takes time and luck.

  • karaca ai vovo só + vc do q o chuck norris

  • Yawn! Just another master who looks good with compliant attackers. Put him in the ring/cage with in a real fight. Like that one "Master" who was beaten by an MMA guy.

  • Cage fights in NO way show what it's like to be in a real fight. So that was a little pointless, don't you think.

  • Cage fight is the closest you can get, unless take it to the parking lot.

  • I don't really see how any of this would apply to a fight scenario. No one throws a punch that slowly, and no one is going to grab an opponents arm and stand there and wait for him to make a move. Its definitely impressive to watch, but I just don't get it in the practical sense.

  • It's a demonstration. In a real situation, there would be no hesitations. Hapkido and Aikido are extremely effective in street fighting scenarios.

  • Agreed.

  • Who pays their doctor bills?

  • hapkido is hapkido and aikido is aikido hapkido is more complete and realistic

  • mean old man. lol. good stuff

  • I correct myself.. the Japanese occupation of KOREA ended.. LOL!!

  • Hapkido is in no way a "Fake" of Aikido. Aikido and Hapkido both originated from Daito-Ryu Aiki-Jujutsu. Neither are any older than the other. They both were created using techniques from Daito-Ryu in the early post WWII Era after the Japanese occupation of Japan ended.

  • like it really matters... this shit sucks

  • LOL.. I would say that it's not the best Hapkido that I've ever seen, but I wouldn't necessarily say that "this shit sucks" either. The only people that generally say that about traditional MA are MMA Goons, and noone takes them seriously anyway.. In the words of voxhammond, "Try to Grow."..

  • haha... yah... but i'm korean, and tried hapkido... and it's truly retarded...

  • You're lying.

  • not

  • poor Korean techniques .

it's only a fake of aikido.

If you Korean advocate it is your original, your race is incapable for creating martial arts.

  • 97% of japanese martial arts born on china..

Aikido..jajaja.. You saw to much films of Steven Seagal. Try to Grow

  • And finally from India

  • hapkido is the korean tai chi and judo

  • korean taichi is Taegukkwon and korean judo is Yudo.

Hapkido is IMO, aikido mixed with wtf tkd. But what do i know, i'm only 100% korean lol :p

  • Thank you that is more like it. Hapkido is not Tai Chi

  • V.V.V. Cool, If Scorpion could do shit like that in Mortal Kombat it would be much easier to win!
