It's neat but the sound seems so one dimensional and dull. Obviously this may be my singular exposure to harp playing, opinions? Scathing diatribes for me?

@jermyang In terms of sound quality it's not a very good recording. When it gets loud the sound resonates and distorts so you don't get the full dynamic range. You can tell he's varying the volume but the actual volume we hear doesn't change much. There's probably a bit of compression on it, too... Even so - awesome, I say!

It is a Lyon & Healy 85 GP, it is a 44 string harp so a bit smaller than a full size one which was great when I was too small to play anything any bigger. When I first had it I used pedal extenstions :-). I now have a full size concert harp but still use the 85 for my jazz - it is great for gigging.

Please have a look at Ben's other clips but all are a bit old now. I have some more clips from a recital in Italy last year which I hope to add soon. Ben is now 14 and plays at international level. Most of his work is classical but he also plays jazz. 2010 performances include recitals at the Rio Harp Festival (Brasil), Harp Festival of Sentmenant (Spain), Le Duc de Mornay (France) & The Ludlow Festival (UK).

I can speak from experience the harp is a very difficult instrument and those bends he's doing are absolutely killer to do without the string rattling and sounding horrible. I'm almost inclined to think this is fake; it's just SO good! This kid's the next Harpo Marx!
