  • This must be the only funny drinking and driving commercial ever made. To take such a serious subject matter and make it comical, without being disrespectful or taking away from the message, is quite an accomplishment. It's brilliant. Kudos to the makers of this add – they deserve it!

You know I can't grab your ghost chip!

  • Song is sampled from "You're A Jerk" by The New Boyz.

  • It's one of the few such ads that doesn't use scare tactics and is still thought-provoking enough to make someone (and not just teens) think twice about not speaking up when a drunk mate's grabbed the car keys. Great episode!

  • @zzzzzzzz0zzzzzzzz

He does it out of love for his friend. It was 'really complicated' but he's summed it up to "crash here." Given the short pause, his friend realises what those two words mean, eternalising his friend as a legend.

  • Puzzle time!

  • 0:32 oh my word greatest jumper ever

  • Does anyone else think the ending camera angle is just awesome.

  • Monique said them 4 ppl are dumb

  • Press 2, 3, 2, 2, 3 and repeat.

  • Ha ha ha XD This is the best ad I've seen so far for this campaign! Good on the NZTA for putting out this one. Brilliant! Epically brilliant!!!

  • why can't i stop watching this.

  • love this video and i'm a kiwi. they should play this in australia.

  • I live in Australia and though that all Maori's talk like this to act tough, but now i know its just them lol

  • @RyzingTerror Wow, serious? You must be really young and have hardly any kiwi's in your area. Maori's have talked this way since... forever.

  • This is just a piece of Kiwi magic!! I doubt anyone who isn't a Kiwi would understand why it's so awesome, but we should teach them anyway. I want a "Ghost Chip" T-Shirt.

  • wana chip ? ya know i cant grab ya ghost chips.Best part haha

  • does anyone know what song is playing in the backgound?

  • he's so hot omg

  • @glompify omg omg omg thanks for sharing omg, slappa

  • @SkettisX shhh

  • Might be because I'm not Australian/New Zealander, but I didn't really get it. =\

  • @MutantClannfear Maori's are very proud, stoic, traditional... and the Kiwi's say 'chips' funny.

This is a great ad, great way to look at how to approach a situation rather than shock tactic ads of car crash victims.

  • Yeah, what's the music?

  • Anyone knows what song it is, or is it ad only?

  • hahaha , my mate must be a famous guy , shot gusto and candy baby :) aka monique , hahaha :D wanna chip ? , i just said that to him today haha :)

  • "You know I can't grab your ghost chups" BEST. PART. EVER. No doubt.

  • Bro, Monique says you're dumb!

  • ghost chips best part

  • Notice the 2 thoughts he has is to either deal with his dead friends "boring" family or have to put up with being haunted by his "ghost"

Is it just me or are the reasons for being a "legend" portrayed in this commercial self centered and in general selfish thoughts that will benefit him rather than his friend?

Would it be more morally correct to do it out of love for his friend rather than selfishness?

    Just a thought..

  • @zzzzzzzz0zzzzzzzz Yes, and ideally this situation would never happen because his friend would have planned his transport/accommodation before starting to drink. But ... it does happen and I guess the idea is to encourage people to speak out even though it is difficult. So I think they're using the puzzle and ghost thing for humour, so that it sticks in people's minds and they'll remember the message the next time a situation like this occurs.

  • @zzzzzzzz0zzzzzzzz Dont know man, it depends if the guys was catching a ride with him then he has all the right to be selfish if it means saving his own life and that of another, but then again the commercial isn't that clear, i only say that because the guy he was saying to stay there was like "what are you doing bro" as if he was waiting for him to head for the car first, but meh its better than no message at all, a bro's gotta look after another bro no matter the price or excuse, ijs.

  • @zzzzzzzz0zzzzzzzz fuck off you muppett.

  • @soopersmoothguy love you too bro :)

  • @zzzzzzzz0zzzzzzzz I get what you are saying about how this "selfless act" is framed in the context of "what's in it for me". To convince people to change the way they do things this is often the easiest way. However, I think what is really "legendary" here is the fact that he's stopping to think of consequences at all. He could be thinking of something a lot more selfish like whether or not there's any of his favourite beer left in the fridge.

  • @zzzzzzzz0zzzzzzzz Bro wat da!!!

  • Its a crack up ad " wana chup "

  • ive been internalising a complicated situation in my head
