  • I am amazed! I was Bruce Martin aka Keith aka Jonah, and I thought all the Edge footage from 1970-71 was lost. It was live, and I was told only kinescopes were made. However did you come across this footage? If more is available, I'd really appreciate having a contact. Please respond to kaelminsl@yahoo.com. Thanks!

  • Technically, this was not even the entire theme. The part heard here is followed by an instrumental part, and then a second ending. I had a rare opportunity to hear both in the same closing.

Orginally, this theme was first used over the original color visuals, roughly a year into Edge's transition to ABC.

  • @soap1919jt Yes, it is technically the full lyric theme. On the rarest occasions when there was more running time, the music director edited in the instrumental version to extend the length, but it was not part of the original composition. At least once, the song played through to the end and restarted again, similar to the longer versions of Dark Shadows' end credits.

  • Luv it! Hearing this is particularly special to me, since we're transitioning from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time, and it's beginning to get darker earlier. This was my favorite of the EON themes: so pretty and haunting.

  • This is EXCELLENT!!! NICE to hear a complete version of this haunting theme, the clips ROCK too

  • I miss this soap <3

  • This is amazing music! Where can I get a copy of it?

  • Wow! I thought I woujld never again see the moment when Emily Prager (as my favorite Laurie Ann) meets keith Whitney for time. Thank you!

  • @TheZ58 Me neither! :-)

  • WOW! Excellent! Great clips all especially from the early 70's. Would be so great to see these eps or key scenes on YT: When Otiis and Vinnie held up the New Moon and shot at Johnny; Morlock's confession; scenes with Laurie and Jonah/Keith;

They are all great. THANKS so much!!!!!

  • The second scene with Deborah was tired up, was that part of the cult storyline from 1978?

  • at 1:35 she's jennifer bassey aka marion colby chandler from all my kids! w/red hair, lol!

  • Fabu as always. Your videos are the awesomest on all of YT. Can y'all name the years and put the scenes in context for us who didn;t see all this stuff? i double dogg dare ya!

  • Great video. Never seen many of those clips. I recognize Keith Whitney from all the storylines but not any video. Thanks for sharing.

  • @jasonblood66 Thanks, Jason :-) It's nice to know some folks remember.

  • Cookie, Ron, Vic, Tiffany,Nicole, Martha, Kevin(the 1st), Laurie Ann and Keith(aka Jonah Lockwood) ALL in this wonderful tribute. Heaven has come to earth. Thank you, thank you, thank youi. Now if the entire episodes featuring those vintage characers can be seen too, well, sainthood is in your future!

  • Is that Keith Whitney with Laurie Ann Karr at 1:07? If we could see that entire episode ........ you would make a lot of fans happy.

  • @nightlighter46 Hi - I was Keith/Jonah, and I am amazed that you remember that from 42 years ago; many thanks!

  • This is wonderful! I love the closing themes this show had in its last decade. Very haunting. Even the disco theme works wonderfully. These clips are a truly rare treat.

I've never seen Richard Shoberg on this show, so that was a nice treat. And how jolting to see Sam McMurray, one of my favorites from the Tracey Ullmann Show.

  • @CarlD2 I also was surprised to see Richard Shoberg. I am currently watching Sam McMurray as Wes Leonard in Ryan's Hope 1983 on Freeflyur's channel.

  • @munecojim I haven't seen that yet. It's tough to watch later RH. I never get around to it. I forgot he was on as Wes Leonard.

  • @CarlD2 Well, I am having a hard time getting into yet another Frank (Geoffrey Pierson), but I am enjoying Felicity LaFortune. I loved her on All My Children.

  • saynotoursoap . . . Thank you so much for posting this piece of some of the finest programming in daytime history!! Awsome, excellent, stupendous, magnificent!! I was a kid when these classic episodes ran on CBS. I barely remember them. Wow, and the music is sooooo appropriate. It really captured the flavor that really sustained The Edge Of Night's unique texture. Even 26 years after its cancellation. Thanks so much for posting!! Bravo, bravo!!

  • @softwater88: Agree, agree, agree! It really did capture the essence and the flavor that was so Edge of Night.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • Wow, where is your source for al that footage??

  • Wow! Please, please post the episodes where this footage came from. This is a gold mine!

  • @rhsharp I second and third that! Would especially love to see more of those complete episodes from the first half of the 1970's, and the first two years the show was on ABC!

  • Wow, I missed this entire show but would love to see it now! Too bad these classic years from all our beloved serials are not available to be run again somewhere, somehow. An ASTOUNDING waste!

  • @TimsDale4ever They say hindsight is 20/20. The networks realized much too late what a mistake they made wiping and reusing video tapes. If P&G and networks in general had realized what they had, they would've made a point of archiving ALL soap opera episodes. The fact that any episodes prior to 1979 exist is a miracle itself. It is truly sad that 'we' will more than likely never get to see these shows again since many of those broadcast no longer exist at all.....
