@ 2:21. CHARLES JOHNSON? getting absolutely OWNED. after he gets SWATTED he looks up like what freighttrain just hit me, while michael is already in full stride going the other way. u could make a 20 min hightlight reel JUST OFF MIKE'S DEFENSE
@2:06.....VINTAGE. DEADLY in the open court, guranteed 2pts every time. i believe that was MICHAEL COOPER. he attacked his left flank HARD, so as to make cooper recover. then picked up his dribble and finished with the right while cooper helplessly sails by.....#typicalMike
The 300 highlights in this film are less than half his total highlights.
How can anyone even think of comparing him to anyone: To be a scoring machine like no other since Wilt Chamberlain; to have first class defense; to be as fundamentally sound as Tim Duncan; and to include a bonus as having the most highlights of any player ever; EVER!
@annon896 Yeah that's crazy. Besides Kobe's watered down immitation of MJ, no one even tried the shots he did in his prime.
People take those shots today and it's a "bad shot" or it was off balanced or ill advised. Not MJ though. Those shots were routine for him. They were part of his arsenal, his everyday game. He was the perfect combination of speed, athleticism and body control, with huge hands.
He is hands down the greatest shot creator and finisher ever.
@TyroneNBAFan Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter were the only players who had talent level like Jordan. It's a shame they never lived up to what they could have been, I guess thats the difference with hard work. Kobe came out on top of the baby jordans but he never had the talent level and is like you said, just a watered down imitation of jordan. The only players who make these types of plays/shots now days is...well no one. ever since Vince and Tmac died off thers no out of world talents..
Watching this is so wierd. You still see some amazing stuff in the NBA, but no one currently has the hang time of Jordan. He's able to hold his shot so long and still get a nice roll and follow through.
hoopsencyclopedia this is unbelievable, I boosted over 16 inches on my personal jumping ability by finishing the training program over at 50-inch-vertical[dot]com. Nowadays being able to dunk is the last thing I have to worry about on a game lmao
The Artistry of Michael Jordan I by Hoopsencyclopedia (HD Reload)
I could watch this over and over. Nothing better than seeing the greatest ever at a sport highlights. It really is breathtaking. This guy was made to be the best. Look at his family, nobody is an inch over 6 foot. Out of nowhere Jordan is 6'6, huge hands, freakish athletic talent, determination, work ethic. He has to be the most confident pro sports play I have ever seen as well. Mentally he was so far ahead of everyone as well.
wow after watching this there seriously isnt an argument anymore as to who is the GOAT, i mean MJ was the fucking reason we even started the debate lol
That last dunk... what do you think: was that a two hand windmill or "just" a double pump? Anyway, it would be great if back then they had a camera (+ computer) equipment they have now. Even on that old tapes it looks just beautiful.
MICHAEL is a very powerful name that comes from the Hebrew: מִיכָאֵל / מיכאל (Mikha'el), "who is like ( El )", meaning "Who is like God?" - no wonder why some of the best people in the world were named Michael. Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson, Michael Schumacher, Michael Angelo, ... even the Archangel that slay the devil is Michael.. if you want to have a son someday name him "MICHAEL"; surely another chapter of Greatness will be fulfilled.
Just a perfect artistic rendition of the greatest ever to pick up a basketball. How anyone can question if he is the greatest is beyond me. It was a joy to watch him play.
i wonder how the star players these days would hold up with the defense in the 70s 80s 90s people compare players to mj there litterally is no comparsion till they have experienced the defense he went through and still threw up records mj could probally score a hundered a game now a days in his prime especially with the advantage of being able to travel these days....
@cyber6sapien Ya there was a wall of three defenders to try to stop the drive, but how can you stop somebody that happens to fly and is one of the most fundamentally sound players to ever play.
i think what separates MJ from the rest is his ability to adjust his shot. anyone who has ever played ball knows how hard it is to do something different than you were expecting to do. it's that ability that puts him ahead of LBJ and kobe.
@promethius1976 True, but I think it's not just that. I think it's the overall efficiency and the completeness of his skill set. MJ is a better mid range shooter, moves better without the ball, and has a better post up game. The diversity of his skill set helps make him all that more efficient.
This reminds me of two things, one- Jordan is the best basketball player ever!!! two- Everybody can have do, have, or be whatever they want in life!!!! you just gotta believe.
Im convinced michael jordan is an alien who was placed on our planet for us basketball fans to enjoy. You just cant be as good as he was its not possible. Perfection. Its like watching a dream.
Perfection is correct! He may not be an alien, but he's definitely from a tribe of superior beings! Playing basketball is one thing, but to master the mental and physical capabilities to do what MJ did and what others like him do in their respective professions (e.g. Tiger Woods, Lebron James, Malcolm Gladwell, Oprah, Cornel West, Philip Emeagwali, President Barack Obama, etc.) is simply amazing!
i remember in a game when jordan goes up for a shot or a rebound against dr j ,i forgot, but the play by play guy makes a remark about how not that many ppl can hang in the air with dr j and that he never faced someone on equal footing. He always had the athletic advantage but jordan could match his hangtime and athleticism. I just thought it was cool to see DR J and MJ both hanging in the air and jordan outhanging. I think jordan was going up for a shot and dr j was defending him and jordan had
to hang in the air extra long to get his shot off on DR J. It was a battle of hangtime who could hang in the air longer. MJ won and got the shot off. I think Julius erving was a little surprised at being outhung by jordan. It was in their early meetings. That play and the announcers commentary just stands out in my head. I never seen a player with jordans hangtime. He just has the ability to float in the air unlike any other player
The clip from 8:14 is from 1991 Mid Summer Night Magic which was organized by Magic Johnson and it happens every August ( i don't know bout now) And I happen to be there on that game and prior.....After every game theres a dunk off.....its mostly showboating ...no judges....but everyone who attends gets a score card and believe me everyone went wild once they saw Jordan did his thang and all I saw was 10's !!!! :)
OK now I am convinced more than ever that I right and all you KB, LBJ, DW, VC etc etc etc, lovers are all wrong. MICHAEL JEFFERY JORDAN IS THE G.O.A.T. I hate being subjective about this but this vid puts the full stop, on who is the best of all... so far... there that's as objective as I can be. I better eat my wheaties, drink my gatorade, put my hanes on don't fancy McDonalds though, I'm vego... Oh yeah gotta get dem shoes.
How can that apply to everyone?????? that there is always someone better. That implys that there is noone that is the best. Which would make no sense. Take tiger woods, I guarantee there is noone in the world that is better than him at what he does. Jordan it might apply to him, cause I'm not convinced there werent some guys who didn't make it to the league that were amazing, but that can't apply to everyone.
I don't think anyone has figured out how to accomplish his amazing ability to pull off shots in the air. It's really one of the rarest if not rarest abilities in all of sports. Alot of it has to do with his oversized hands, but his ability to hang in the air is unmatched. After watching this video it is refreshing, cause Kobe is damn good, but we forget how much out of anyones league Jordan was, still today. Noone can match him, without a doubt the greatest of all time.
Just imagine if Patrick Ewing was a team mate of Jordan instead of Cartwright but looking back MJ demanded respect for each and everyone of his team mate.....They all must give their best when playing along side of Jordan just the way Jordan gave his all every game.
There is no such thing as "THE NEXT JORDAN" .....He was the ALPHA and the OMEGA when it comes to basketball and perhaps in all sports....we have witness the greatness in which no one will ever be....If time travel become was ever to possible I will go back to 1980.....I might be a dreamer but Jordan captivated even beyond our wildest dreams to even realize he did all those things on the basketball court.
Have you ever heard this phrase or saying: "There will always be someone out their who is better than you, you just haven't met them yet." That applies to EVERYONE, including Jordan. MJ is the GOAT though.
Why don't we just drop "ALL" the comparison once and for all......WE GOT PROOF HERE !
I mean c'mon Jordan wasn't all about fancy moves but a man who redefined the game at both ends......Pippen even said that he works even twice as hard during practice and has never slack cuz thats the nature of Jordan....he will beat you !! hands down...thats his attitude....its hard trying not to get burned down but Jordan played every game like its his last.
Well these are just elements to MJ's game that gave him an athletic advantage. And yes the Defense of this era was different. Now the floor is spaced out a lot more. Noone is knocking Kobe. Maybe I can take it easier on the guy. The vid you sent proves that. Look, nothing personal. I think we both learned how to appreciate the other player a bit more.
yeah truly we did, we all have our opinions. Let's just wait until Kobe's career is actually over, that's when the world of mj and kobe fans will have its everlasting debate.
Damn, Damn, DAMN. I always knew like Jordan's inside play was better than Kobe's but DAMN. This guys inside play is definitely something that can't be taught at all. This video showed me a different side of Jordan I've never seen I can tell you that. But when it comes to the defense. Like the defense is there, really packed in the paint and do give a lot of contact at times but its not like the fouls weren't called. Most of these are and1 plays.
Genius! That is both from the GOAT as well as your editing hoopsencyclopedia! You made me think about old footage that I have with MJ in '87 on the NBA stars team against the college star Pan-Am team. Do you have any footage from that game? I can't seem to find it anywhere because I didn't label it.
thanks for posting this. To think what he was able to accomplish against that fierce defense is just mind boggling. The defense would just collapse and purposefully collide into him and yet he still found a way to put the ball in the basket. It doesn't seem like todays players face the same challenge.
ya lots of that isnt played now, people dont realize what he could do and how high he could get when he was young in the leauge recorded highest vert 48 in nba history insane.
Just sick! It took me about two minutes watching the first ten seconds of this video, from replaying it. Might be my favorite video in all of youtube.
This is certainly 1 of the best jordan video ever. Good Job. Wow some of the moves are out of the world. You wun believe until some1 show it to you. MJ show us why he is 1 of the greatest player of all time. Is there any1 better than him? I certainly doubt so.
Michael Jordan is the Sugar Ray Robinson of boxing. Simply the GOAT!!! Jordan like Robinson showed everyone how to excel in their respective sports. There will never be another Michael Jordan just like there'll never be another Sugar Ray Robinson in boxing!!!!!!!!!!!!
In boxing, Sugar 'Ray' Robinson is the original. He won around 90 straight fights; won a total of 173, with 108 coming by way of knockout. No one can top that.
In basketball, it's Jordan. It's his uncanny ability and enduring will to play the game of basketball every single time at his very best. I'm not taking away anything from the other greats, but Jordan just stood out. It's something that can never be explained by anyone. Ü
no bad but you forgot some of the best ones! what about the runner over elo? what about the hand switch against the lakers? waving the finger at mutumbo? making ewing jump up and down 3 times and then making a simple basket? MJ is the best EVER and no one will ever come close!
Easily the most watchable player in history, has some much grace, power and control. Thanks for putting up the videos, I watch them over and over and each time see something

I love it how in 9:41, Rodman's like, 'yep, count it!'

This guy's hang time and vertical is something scientists are really going to have to look into like seriously, this guy can seriously fly bro.
DRUMMA911 2 years ago
Well these are just elements to MJ's game that gave him an athletic advantage. And yes the Defense of this era was different. Now the floor is spaced out a lot more. Noone is knocking Kobe. Maybe I can take it easier on the guy. The vid you sent proves that. Look, nothing personal. I think we both learned how to appreciate the other player a bit more.
JayT98 2 years ago
yeah truly we did, we all have our opinions. Let's just wait until Kobe's career is actually over, that's when the world of mj and kobe fans will have its everlasting debate.
DRUMMA911 2 years ago
A huge Kobe fan is on his way to watch this vid. Everyone be nice.

he he cant recognize that jordan is basketball god because of this highlight alone i dont know what can.
Bigturns33 2 years ago
Damn, Damn, DAMN. I always knew like Jordan's inside play was better than Kobe's but DAMN. This guys inside play is definitely something that can't be taught at all. This video showed me a different side of Jordan I've never seen I can tell you that. But when it comes to the defense. Like the defense is there, really packed in the paint and do give a lot of contact at times but its not like the fouls weren't called. Most of these are and1 plays.
DRUMMA911 2 years ago
He was absurd. Kobe and LBJ have a long way to go. The thrown is still his!
jubeezer 2 years ago
Genius! That is both from the GOAT as well as your editing hoopsencyclopedia! You made me think about old footage that I have with MJ in '87 on the NBA stars team against the college star Pan-Am team. Do you have any footage from that game? I can't seem to find it anywhere because I didn't label it.
Fantastic job again!

thanks for posting this. To think what he was able to accomplish against that fierce defense is just mind boggling. The defense would just collapse and purposefully collide into him and yet he still found a way to put the ball in the basket. It doesn't seem like todays players face the same challenge.
ChiSpire 2 years ago
8:13 was fierce! not your typical jordan

The king, the master, my idol. -Ali on Robinson
tedteddteddy 2 years ago
Nope, the original 'Sugar' was Robinson. Ali copied Ray Robinson. Check out some of his fights on utube. Ali was definitely more famous, though.

no bad but you forgot some of the best ones! what about the runner over elo? what about the hand switch against the lakers? waving the finger at mutumbo? making ewing jump up and down 3 times and then making a simple basket? MJ is the best EVER and no one will ever come close!

i think the point of the video was to show rarely seen plays by mj.We see those highlights all the time.
