Flaming taps aside there are multiple issues surrounding shale gas extraction and most of these are effecting people closest to the rigs. Increased traffic / noise / air pollution / possible future risks of contamintation to water table + soils / decrease in hosue prices / businesses moving out of the area... the list goes on. All good reasons the UK government should NOT be investing in this flawed concept but instead be putting money / jobs into developing clean / sustainable power sources.
Sounds to me like its real enough alright. Similar to the finds in US, other parts of EU, Canada. The UK government should do its best to harness this resource and help bring the country back to the great nation it once was.
As far as the fire from taps is concerned. That was happening at that place in the US a long time before they did any fracking there. And what's more, the guy who made that video knew that. He just 'decided' not to mention it. It's just environmentalist scare tactics.
