Aaaaahhhh I was so young when I first played this part of the game... A friend owned it, and this song and the suburb part really got stucked in my brain. Hell, seing only that little of FFVII was the very reason I bought a PSX.
It's called that because it's played in the slums of Midgar, and the slums are underneath a giant saucer which makes it impossible to see the sky. The giant plate is the most prominent feature in all of the sectors in the slums, and it looks like a giant pizza. Barret even calls it this. It looks like a giant rotting pizza since it's made of metal.
@crystalvalley Thanks for the clarity on that man! I always thought he was talking about an actual pizza business on top of the Midgar plate or something. XD
I have played the game (hell, I own it), and while I haven't beaten all the sidequests (F-YOU, EMERALD WEAPON!), I've played more or less all the game.

Love this theme! It only gets annoying cause you're stuck in Midgar for so long. But, I guess that makes escaping that much more rewarding.
