As a 2 year old, I watched the intro of this game all the time. I remember watching Epona's glowing hooves in the night, the Zelda logo burning in small flames. I always played this game, with my cheap plastic sword by my side. To this day, I set it beside myself as I play this game.
Now I am 12 years old, And I truly know what Nastalgia is.
man i was 8 when this came out 1998 and i saw it downtown and i asked my mom if she can buy it for me and she said ok when i played it omg it was magical i was Rinku a young boy going thru dungeons and then when i grew up i had harder challenges... man i love this game then MM came out 2000 i was 10 and my adventure picked up right where i left off but this time in a brand new place a twisted emotional place, then WW in 2004 (or 5) and this time i was on a journey across a vast sea...
@RinkuHeroOfTime and then into the twilight realm i went a dark place, a new hyrule bigger and epic and finally 2011 i'm 20 and my journey has lead me to a journey like no other into the blue sky i went diving from great heights to rescue my friend never backing down and then in 20?? my journey will start again....
i'm such a geek but zelda has been in my life for a long time i've played all of them and can't wait for more i am a gamer and zelda is a huge part of my gaming life
I played this all through the time i was around 5 - 9. I eventually stopped playing it, and just a few days ago got a 3ds and OoT 3D. I am only in dodongos cavern at the moment, but the memories it brings back are astounding.
How did you make the graphics look so great? I am trying to make my n64 show this kind of quality and I am just wondering if it has to do with the kind of tv or an expansion pack or something?
This intro was recorded on an emulator on my computer using anti-aliasing to smooth out polygons. The N64 is not capable of making it look quite like this due to its low resolution.
Stupid question, don't laugh, but I'm thinking of getting a Wii soon. Is there any way I could play this game or other older Nintendo games from other systems on it?
Back then, you've been dying to see Zelda in a new look, and when the game finally was out... a calm, silent intro that really introduced you to a new experience. It's way more sensible than beginning with all the familiar pompous "ta-dah, tadada-dadadah"... great job! Like all of Ocarina's music.
Anyone else afraid of that Ganon riding through the flames? :))
Favorite video game intro screen of all time. It has literally burned in to my mind.. Today +10 years later you can still enjoy and look back how it felt when you first time turned power on.. Not to mention when you first time set your foot in Hyrule Field and day turned to night. Memories literally bring tears in to your eyes.
It's pretty sick how huge memories and emotions you can have for simple intro screen.. And there is still entire adventure behind it. Nintendo really nailed this one.
@Mii85 Agreed, best game ever made in the history of all game systems, even today's game cannot beat this! I have had the best memories playing this game.
Caleb ~ Hello all. For our upcoming layout at our website, we have an overview page for each of the games in the Zelda series where you can access all of our walkthroughs and guides. We thought it would be cool to have the title videos on each of these pages. Currently, we are ONLY doing Video Walkthroughs for Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time. Thank you.

Ocarina of Time was released on:
1987 NES
2004 GBA "NES Classic's Series"
2003 GCN "Collector's Disc"
2006 Wii Virtual Console (digital download on the Wii, NOT a physical copy)
2011 3DS e-shop (again, digital download with the 3ds service)

@TheZeldaDungeon I think you're talking about the original Zelda game there, Ocarina of Time wasn't released in 1987 on the NES.

Looks like you didnt have enabled "Sync audio with game" (or something like that on PJ64) back then, enabling will get rid of the sound chipping.

supershadow013 10 months ago
For you noobs out there, the music at 0:17 is the warp pipe song from super mario bros 3.

@GordanFreeman11946 thats from the recorder from the first legend of zelda that came out before super mario bros 3 noob

If you actually paid attention, that tune appeared in many Mario/Zelda Games,
Its almost like Miamoto's water mark if you will.
(in my opinion)

@wCailumtheGamer
That would be Koji Knodo, the songwriter of both the Zelda and Mario games. Nothing to do with Miyamoto.

Yes, the Wii has an online store called the Virtual Console which allows you to purchase and play older Nintendo games.
