What is this neverending arguiment this is wow and this is that. Its two completely different genres. WoW has gotten alot from diablo 2 (skill tree etc) and Diablo 3 has added features from Wow, just because it looks familiar you cant say it IS wow. Its the same company, and they use ideas that are successful into making their epic games regardless of what it is.

Yes, the "gothic" appeal, or as I would call it, the darkness, of the old Diablo games is missing here... I don't like the flashy effects on weapons and spells... Well, I think it has all been said... the classic look of the game has died... a shame. I wish Blizzard hadn't tried to appeal to little kids with dancing colors and an overflow of action on this one... save that shit for Warcraft I say, the original concept of which was similarly ruined.
It does still look like Diablo. It just now has an actual color palette. Rather than the muted tones of the originals, which was caused more by tech limitations of their respective engines. My problems with it are how many of the features I have seen in other games already. It seems like Diablo lore with various features from Dungeon Siege, TQ, a few MMOs, a few hack and slash console games, and a dash of Sacred sprinkled in for good measure. And D1 had a much scarier atmosphere than D2 IMO.
I love the original! No game even begins to compare... The music, and just the darkness of the labyrinth, as well as the horrifying appearences of daemons like The Butcher, and the Hidden down in the catacombs, make it a much more impressive game to me than any which have been made since or ever will be I fear...
Hazard is right... it's not Blizzard North doing the work on this one, and the graphics are suffering for it... I agree completely, the look borders on WoW, and seeing as I won't go near that gay shit I don't think this bodes well for Blizzard. Bad choice in my opinion... I might not be buying this game when it comes out.. there is really no telling, and considering how much I loved the first two; I even still play the original.. I think it's a bad sign for the entire series.
I would also like to point out that the original team that made diablo 1 and 2 is not the team making diablo 3, and that makes a hell of a difference. Imho, everything blizzard has made for themselves sux coz they make it too comical... I wish they brought back Blizzard North for D3 (now known as Flagship Studios)

They made it look more like the warcraft realm rather than the diablo realm, which is gay coz the diablo series was always much more gothic looking, less colour, less comical and a lot creepier. Sure the graphics in D3 fkn rock, but the styling doesn't look gothic enough as the original colour palettes used more grey than anything else and different art concepts. Too much like warcraft? Warcraft is a rtsg and diablo is a third person fighter game, it may be a little like world of warcraft but thats just cause the style of how you play the game is simmilar. Everything iv seen come out of Blizzard has been epic and i expect nothing less than from this game

You know, for all those saying things about it not being dark enough, htey said thisis the tileset for one dungeon in act one and the game gets darker as you progress through the game. There would be no real impact on the player if they just throw you into the darkest parts of the game right away, especially sinceits been 20 years of peace.
Any company that fires their longtime series art designer just because 10% of the community doesn't like the new style is a company that does NOT deserve my money. :|
Only 2 heroes are created so far, the witchdoctor and barbarian. Let's hope more unique heroes do get released soon! Fan of Diablo all my life, and i think that this is something new and kick ass. i can't wait for it. although the health orb thing is a little bit gay. xD

i think this is going to suck. Especially if this vid is supposed to be from the first level. I remember the first level on Diablo 1 - it was VERY challenging simply because you had to be so very cautious of who you took on, how many you took on, and how best to utilise your environment to best deal with the hairy situations (god bless door ways). Watching this guys health, the only thing you have to be careful of in number 3 is getting RSI in your finger from clicking so much.
eh. good RPGs are about character/story development. Something that Diablo 1 was good at, and the first 20 levels of WOW... hey there's a recurring theme - blizzard doesn't know how to maintain story/character integrity over prolonged success. WW looks way cooler now that it isn't so damn fast. Doesn't seem like that good 'ol dark and dreary Diablo feel is there but the graphics aren't as cartoonish and and WoW'd (gayed) up as i thought originally. I just wish it was way dark and brutal, thereby giving gamers who aren't as lame as this narrator something to play instead of WoW.

You know, for all those saying things about it not being dark enough, htey said thisis the tileset for one dungeon in act one and the game gets darker as you progress through the game. There would be no real impact on the player if they just throw you into the darkest parts of the game right away, especially sinceits been 20 years of peace.

Only 2 heroes are created so far, the witchdoctor and barbarian. Let's hope more unique heroes do get released soon! Fan of Diablo all my life, and i think that this is something new and kick ass. i can't wait for it. although the health orb thing is a little bit gay. xD

nah ... D3 lose it already ! Heck sure its going to be a great game no... An EXCELLENT GAME !! That suit D3 but in other hand talking bout goth evil-like imaginary warrior sorcery world with god like powers , Diablo 3 has lost it! a 5 out of 10 * maybe for me , is not gonna pull the trick for bringing back the passion of good old Diablo 2 even with lively animation , stunning cinematography and wonderful powers. Dude surely its more to WoW rather than Diablo original recipe for destruction...

i think this is going to suck. Especially if this vid is supposed to be from the first level. I remember the first level on Diablo 1 - it was VERY challenging simply because you had to be so very cautious of who you took on, how many you took on, and how best to utilise your environment to best deal with the hairy situations (god bless door ways). Watching this guys health, the only thing you have to be careful of in number 3 is getting RSI in your finger from clicking so much.

eh. good RPGs are about character/story development. Something that Diablo 1 was good at, and the first 20 levels of WOW... hey there's a recurring theme - blizzard doesn't know how to maintain story/character integrity over prolonged success. I'm sure number 3 will be ok, but i'm willing to bet my left nut it'll have nothing on the first

WW looks way cooler now that it isn't so damn fast. Doesn't seem like that good 'ol dark and dreary Diablo feel is there but the graphics aren't as cartoonish and and WoW'd (gayed) up as i thought originally. I just wish it was way dark and brutal, thereby giving gamers who aren't as lame as this narrator something to play instead of WoW.
