I got to see Twixt at Toronto Film Festival several weeks ago. It was BRILLIANT! Especially if you're someone who is deeply interested in the works of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Edgar Allen Poe, and all gothic short-stories from acclaimed authors. To be honest though, this film contains A LOT, and I DO MEAN A LOT, of references to Coppola himself, but in no way is it ridiculous. Loved the film and I'm hoping it sees an international release.

Twixt looks totally crazy, I bet it will be really weird ... Francis Ford Coppola is a really interesting and thought provoking creator, so many have been inspired by his visions. I'm sure there will be a few people who, in an uninspired attempt at sublimating jealousy via youtube will knock what has been brought forth. Was he intending to make this look like a pretentious student film or was that by accident? This looks absolutely awful. Coppola has lost his touch completely. I guess his gears got too rusty with that decade he took off from filmmaking.
Coppola has said he wanted to make "student" films - that is, films that were free of any mainstream and critic interference. I never thought he really meant making a "student film," because that's what this seems like.
Everything here seems novice: blocking of actors, framing, lighting, editing, and even the dialogue. What happened? I thought "Tetro" was a return to some form, but this looks very disappointing.
I'm the biggest Coppola fan in the world. I have seen all of his movies, even went to the premire of Youth Without Youth at the Writers Guild to see him in person. Apocalypse Now is my favorite film of all time. But this is utter shit. It looks like a terrible home video. Not scary. Not even his requisite great cinematography! Meanwhile, Lucas made Red Tails and Spielberg made War Horse, two trailers which are mind blowing and stunning. What a waste of 2 years of his career.

I've been really looking forward to this ever since Elle Fanning was picked up from Sofia Coppola's movie 'Somewhere' by her father to be in this. But, to be honest, the trailer has disappointed me. This is pretty shoddy,even though Francis Coppola hasn't made a decent film since the 80's.Who would have thought the director of the Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now would be stuck making indie shit like this down the line ?
