  • Do you know why this was happening?

  • @vraho100 NIMBY's and environmentalists(people you'd think would be for rail service) keep bringing on the lawsuits. There's even people in Humbolt co. in the north trying to get the rails turned into a trail. Some of em I think only support that idea so that the can have easier access to their pot farms LOL cause they look like they have never been hiking in their life.

  • CRAP!!! Still no trains!!!

  • The first idiot to try to beat the train spotted at 0:23

  • @Bayron1warriors That is indeed Railroad Square, and the last freight train rolled through Santa Rosa in 1998.

  • 0:41 that bum crapped his pants. I bet he stays at the jesus saves mission on 6th street

  • Do You Know when The "Smart" Rail will come? Or wen there are going to do this next. Thanks vaughn In Sebastopol Ca

  • @vraho100 Smart is destined to start around 2014.

  • This is Old Railroad Square and it is in Santa Rosa. WOW you are so dumb. I LIVE in Santa Rosa and I have heard freight is coming in October, 2010.

  • @jadog31 true, trains are destined to begin operations the second week in october. The locmotive they will use is currently sitting on Mare Island being repainted and worked on.

  • @Bayron1warriors bullshit this is not santa rosa, that is west third street if im not mistaken that the train crosses in the begging. where u at in rosa bromey?

  • We need more Vids this is not enough!!!!!

  • Any update if this line is up and running. If so, what is the traffic like?

  • @mustlx Trains are destined to resume operations mid-October 2010 between Schellville and Windsor.

  • They started TODAY...July 13 2011

I think they are running Monday, Wednesday a Friday

  • @WPRR1 No idea....

They might have gone only as far as Petaluma, like the other day.

The best place to see them would be Black Point, Novato or Petaluma.

    I'm in San Rafael.....

  • are there any trains going through santa rosa today?

  • Its great they brought the trains back instead of turning it into a 'rails to trails' or some stupid shit like that.

  • actuly, the Petaluma and Santa Rosa railroad company was a subsidary of the NWP when it shut down in the late 80s and was turned into a Rails to Trails. PS R-T-R is a preety good idea for a line thats making zero revanue. althugh i agree. glad they brought them back :-)

  • No I'd rather see them become RTR than being completely torn out. But in all honesty, they should be rail lines first and foremost. :-)

  • oh yeah. couldn't agree more. can't wait. im going to be the first one to see the first revanue frieght roll in. Big NWP fan, guilty as charged. love trains.

  • I didn't know it was nearly a decade ago since last time there was a train here. That's nice that trains return here. Wait, so literally, trains were gone for almost a decade or was it just passenger trains that were gone? I mean, there had to have been supply trains since right?

  • Nope. In fact, there were no (zero) trains through Sonoma County for nearly the entire decade of 2000-2010. Until this one! NCRA (North Coast Railroad Authority) intends to get freight running again in 2009.

  • Wow! I had no idea and I have been living in Santa Rosa my whole life. Well, of course, I'm not at railroad square often at all.

  • A speeder club of about 20 speeders travled from Novato to Napa in 2007, but other than that thats true. Except that trains did run from schelleville and milepost 48, or Cotati, for exactly 1 month in 2001.

  • Comment removed

  • The NWP and NCRA is planning a January 9th start up date of 2 round trip trains a day between Schelleville (napa) and Windsor CA. No train (except a speeder car club) have traveled over the line sence 1998. Althogh survice did resume for 1 week between Cotati and Schelleville in 2001.

  • very nice

  • wtf kinda ditchlights are those? lol!
