Go tell someone that owns a 4cy turbo fox body (2.3) that it's not a real mustang and watch your ass get stomped.
@onlypitbulls Its all good and yes the Ecotec 2.2s are quick little 4 cylinders. They are often called torque monsters for their high displacement. The stock 10:1 compression must go if a Cavalier owner is going to run high psi forced induction or else you will end up with fried internals. A Cavalier's stick block can hold close to 400bhp before needing to be upgraded with a stronger block. Not bad if you ask me.

Its funny, I have both a cavalier and a mustang gt and there's no way in hell my cavalier will hang with the stang. The fact that this is a V6 probably has a lot to do with the result though.
The cavalier driver doesnt know how to shift, and is it me or does the Mustang seem like its an auto? I didnt hear it shift once. People who think Cavs are fast need to go out and see the world.

My 04 2dr 5spd has just a CAI, STB, and 18" wheels with Tein/AGX lowering kit, and although Im a muscle car fan, its respectable for a daily driver with 30mpg lol.
Why is it that as soon as someone watches a video where one car is faster than another they immediately claim that that car is the best! If this is the case then every car out there is the best. That generation Mustang hits 60 supposedly in 7.7 with a manual. I have test driven one with an automatic and it is much slower than 7.7 seconds. It actually red lines if you floor it in the 3.8 automatic Mustang. They all think because it is a Mustang that is fast. The 170+hp gets bogged big time by the RWD set-up. Plus Ford's tranny they stuck on these blow. I love hearing about the magic chip for the 3.8 that makes them hit 60 in 5 seconds, LOL.

Personally Chevy killed it with the 2.4 twin cam.. the 2.2 was such a reliable motor and you could actually do a lot to it. It survived a turbo and nitrous.. for about a year..

Lol, Don't be confusing Ford with Chevy. That's obviously a Mustang with a 3.8L which put out... 145hp-150hp depending on the year of the SN95 generation mustang. Now, take your little calculator and divide a rounded weight of 3900/145 and tell me what the power to weight ratio is.
I'll add to my comment above, The cavalier which weighs about 2800lbs and makes 120 to 150 horespower depending if it had a 2.2L or 2.4L. This results in a 19lbs per HP or 23lbs per HP. Both improvment over the Mustang. The 3.8L was designed for economy and for people who wanted to cruise. It obviously wasn't built to perform.
dont forget the essex v6 was designed in the 1970s..the mustang v6 was intended for sales purposes....they never intended to put any effort in its performance..thus the = of a 16000 price tag when brand new...meant for sales making

We're talking about a 4 cylinder and a V8 (or it possibly could have been a V6 since some Mustangs are V6 powered). There's probably close to 100 HP difference between these two engines, so the Cavalier has to be souped up to be in line with the engine that powers the Mustang.
These engines were probably putting out pretty equal torque. Cavaliers are just amazing tuner cars. Look it up. :)

Its the American version of the K20 which is one of the fastest engines that Honda ever made back in the same generation as the Cavalier. Get your facts straight.

Kudos to the Cavalier for beating the basic Mustang V6. Yes it's an accomplishment but that does not mean that is is a fast car whatsoever. Cavalier weighs less, which means that it takes less power to move the weight (Power-weight ratio). That generation Mustang hits 60 supposedly in 7.7 with a manual. I have test driven one with an automatic and it is much slower than 7.7 seconds. It actually red lines if you floor it in the 3.8 automatic Mustang. They all think because it is a Mustang that is fast. The 170+hp gets bogged big time by the RWD set-up. Plus Ford's tranny they stuck on these blow. I love hearing about the magic chip for the 3.8 that makes them hit 60 in 5 seconds, LOL.

Dude I ran a 15.3 before I got it hp tuned.
All I had was H/E/I/ I should be about at 15.0 now.
I beat the new 4.0 mustangs with ease....lol 5-speed or auto.

...@02cavcruzin ....your point being?....my v6 ran a 15.3 @ 93 with an air filter/exh. And it was a automatic....only chevys that have given my lil ol v6 a problem were camaro's & a duramax.....its like me saying my ford focus beats v6 camaros ..it just ain't happening...I wouldn't say you beat mustangs more like you out drive mustang owners..

Well I guess EVERY mustang I have raced had shitty driver's.
I never lost to a v6 firebird or camaro either. Hell I beat a couple four eye foxes and a couple sn95 v8 mustangs.

....@02cavcruzin ....yup you sure have...a real mustang owner never buys a v6 and races it stock...that's how I know its a dunce in that v6..either way this cavi won..congrats on him and on you for taking out mustangs...just know this.a mustang in the correct drivers hands will never lose to a driver in any type of cavi..if that was the case then cavaliers would be running 14s from the factory..and once again it ain't happening..you just beat a mustang that was slower than ur average joe.

@02cavcruzin I doubt that you beat the v8 mustangs. in my 94 2.2 i4 cavalier i've roasted tons of mustangs.. v6's tho. at one time I thought it was the fastest stock non-turbo'd 4 cyl. Personally Chevy killed it with the 2.4 twin cam.. the 2.2 was such a reliable motor and you could actually do a lot to it. It survived a turbo and nitrous.. for about a year..

yeh man both cars are pretty close tbh comes down to who knows their car better.... and most guys drivin cavys accelerate halfa million times for no reason :) like me. so u know where to hit it ... i drive a 2.4l twin cam auto ... on manual mode wit traction control off i shit on ppl.

Lol, Don't be confusing Ford with Chevy. That's obviously a Mustang with a 3.8L which put out... 145hp-150hp depending on the year of the SN95 generation mustang. Now, take your little calculator and divide a rounded weight of 3900/145 and tell me what the power to weight ratio is.

I'll add to my comment above, The cavalier which weighs about 2800lbs and makes 120 to 150 horespower depending if it had a 2.2L or 2.4L. This results in a 19lbs per HP or 23lbs per HP. Both improvment over the Mustang. The 3.8L was designed for economy and for people who wanted to cruise. It obviously wasn't built to perform.

dont forget the essex v6 was designed in the 1970s..the mustang v6 was intended for sales purposes....they never intended to put any effort in its performance..thus the = of a 16000 price tag when brand new...meant for sales making

@911GeorgeBush LOL, how's it not fair? We're talking about a Cavalier and a Mustang here. We're talking about a 4 cylinder and a V8 (or it possibly could have been a V6 since some Mustangs are V6 powered). There's probably close to 100 HP difference between these two engines, so the Cavalier has to be souped up to be in line with the engine that powers the Mustang.
These engines were probably putting out pretty equal torque. Cavaliers are just amazing tuner cars. Look it up. :)

cavaliers rock , especially when you supercharge their ecotecs . stage 2 = 260hp on 2500lbs car = lots a fun !!!!!!! check out mine at ( sexy cavalier )

ok well I know that stage 2 is for the cobalts, not the cavaliers, they just had a 2.2 and gm made a kit good for 200hp, any other hp is made from the aftermarket
