Luzier is so freaking effortlessly banging on those drums like nobody's business. Incredible incredible musician, and a real cool fella! Come back AOA!
Biggest forehead in rock. It's like his forehead has it's own persona. I prefer Scott with the DeLeo brothers but he working with these guys was certainly a blessing. His voice was very suited to the music and gave us one of the best rock albums in the last 5 or 6 years. I do wish sometimes that Scott was singing on it but whatever, these days ill take rock where I can find rock.
my old band the oppertunity to open for Army of Anyone in 2007. i had the pleasure to meet dean and ray, they were such cool respectful people. Once of the best concerts i got to see up close by far. Richard was unreal on vocals.
He's not just singing. He's singing and screaming. Imagine if Slayer's Tom Araya (the singer) was fused with Queen's Freddy Mercury! A combination of such singing and screaming talent could only be named....... Richard Patrick
If you're wondering why he makes such a crazy face when he sings, its because he's ripping his vocal chords apart while making beautiful sounds for us. If you think you can do better, go ahead and try.... I dare you :)
Four people have no idea what great rock n' roll is. When you have the 'brothers' on strings and Ray Luzier on drums, there is no room for error. This is a legendary lineup. Dean Deleo is the Jimmy Page of the 1990s. His solo ability shines with hesitation, with every note carefully chosen. It's not just a bunch of senseless shredding. It's imperfection is part of what makes it so damned perfect. And his tone is top notch. And Robert Deleo? One of the best in the biz, hands down! A++++++
i love this mix of bands but i think all i have is this cd love both bands and at this point with patrick i give him props and would love for them to come back after Stp even though i love Stp i'mdrunk lol:)
Yeah.... just fucking incredible talent, these guys. What chemistry!!!! The very distinct, and always clever DeLeo Bros, Richard's strong, AMAZING voice.... and Ray is just a fucking monster. So funny to me that he's actually considered somewhat of a 'pocket drummer'. Man, he just fuckin' kills the skins.
Man i loved this album. I was jazzed to hear Patrick singing so well with another good band. This was my first intro to Ray's drumming also & the guy is just beast. Love his style. Great album, thanks guys.
Patrick jumped on my friends and I at Xfest back in like 2002 during Hey man nice shot. We were literally against the stage and he was like a foot from our faces just belting it out. It was kind of awkward but unbelieveable all at once. Filter put on an incredible show. Oh, and Luzier's playing, chills inducing.
This album is awesome. Unfortunately though, this kind of music only appeals to us Genx's and very early Y's. Its such a shame. I rate this is one of the best albums to be released recently, along with Them Crooked Vultures. Why? Apart from great riffs, soothing melodies and tight musicianship, theses albums are pure unadulterated rock and roll. Something that would be otherwise lost on modern rock and roll. DAMN IT!
Very good band, but yeah, no longer together... Singer is back with Filter and the DeLeo brothers and STP reunited... Ray is an awesome drummer, I love the chorus beats he lays down between the Hi-Hats and Ride, also the solo at the end is BOSS!
@herrsitar Yes, they are great, but they are not togehter anymore. The singer (Richard Patrick) is back with his old band Filter (you gotta check them out, they are awesome!). ;)
I love Ray's style. Richard Patrick has a great style, very similar to Dave Coutts that the DeLeo's worked with in Talk Show. They both appeal to my ears over Weiland's style, even though Scott is badass. Just my preference.
1) At about 10 seconds in the song, you realize Patrick is outclassed by the other 3 musicians. He is by far the least talented here.
2) At around the 4 minute mark, they all turn around to see what Ray will do on those mini-solo outros. I can't say I blame em, Ray is the man. Korn is incredibly lucky that this world-class drummer thought enough of their weak non-musical talents to come and assist. I am sure they are in awe each night.
Dam good drummer! It kind of seems as though this band is heavily influenced by Stone Temple Pilots. The bass player needs to look a little more positive and move around a bit more.
@Pinstripedtie I hope you're kidding about the influence and I've seen 'this bass player' directly in front of me. Trust me 'The Bass Player' (Whoever he may be :)) moves quite a bit in concert.
@Pinstripedtie I should have known you were pulling my leg. I fell right into the trap too. Robert DeLeo is the coolest musician out there in my opinion and super talented too.
@Pinstripedtie stone temple pilots.... guitarist and bassist... robert deleo and dean deleo..... army of anyone guitarist and bassist.... robert deleo and dean deleo... they are more than just influenced by stp... they are 1/2 of stp... the other two are singer of filter richard patrick and former drummer for david lee roth and now the drummer for korn... ray luzzier or however u spell his last name
