  • Het, can i keep a female jack dempsey , male convict, pleco and a sun catfish or picus catfish in a 55 gallon

  • apparaently not my oscar....got a convict, had him in a qt tank for a month..added him to tank..within 24 hours he was dead. never made it through the night. the only tankmate my Oscar likes is his striped raphael..

  • NIce song! Plus the albino is huge!

  • Really Lovely!! :)

  • @radean84 , what do you mean by old age ? how many years ?

I'm also a convict fan , i have 5 females ( no male to avoid babies and death events :) )

  • Ok thank you for replying

  • What is the average full length for convicts to get to?

  • @Mecikaya the biggest one i had died from old age and i would say he was under 6"

  • is it ok if i put 2 male pink convicts and 2 male black convict in my 40g tank??? i dont want them to breed coz i already have a lot of them

  • your convicts are gorgeous and I love this song. I'm thinking of adding a Pink convict to my Oscar tank. I saw a gorgeous one today. Do you think 2 males would fare well with an oscar? he's like 9 inches. I would grow them out first in a qt tank before adding if they were to small. what do u think?

  • @funnyjew convicts are pretty hardy fish, but to be honest i have no experience with oscars so i'm not sure how well they would get along

  • @funnyjew The convicts will do will with a Oscar. Convicts can stand up for themselves, and are faster then the Oscar.

  • Hey! Just a little tip: Don't breed the albino's with the normal ones... you need to try and keep the strain pure! That way everyone can have REAL convicts :) Not trying to start a fight or anything.

  • convicts r like rabbits! lol

  • @GrowDroDotCom Just make sure you get any EBJD's from reputable breeders or stores with good sources. It's not uncommon for them to look normal as babies and once they get up around 4-5" to start showing beak face. If you do get them, get 1mm NLS Thera A+, some veggie flakes and if you can, live brine shrimp. Should help them grow and be healthy. They're real tough to raise.

  • Nice fish and video :) I have many fish and I also have 1 pair of striped and 1 albino and they paired off opposite of their own kind. Its really funny to watch them cuz the 4 of them will test each other with a tug of war motion :) They are mean they kick the lemon cichilds out ther home.

How can you know a female from male? I noticed some of yours striped ones have red on them.

  • That pink male looks JUST like mine, sure these fish are as common as anything, but they're so much fun to keep and watch. I enjoy mine tons. They look great.

  • @xxgatorx313xx yeah, i really enjoy breeding them because you always see something new as far as colors, size and behavior. this particular tank just had 2 new batches of babies, one set already showing stripes. the cool thing is i wound up with some more albinos.

  • @radean84 That's pretty awesome. How long before you knew if you had more pinkies? A friend of mine is wanting to start keeping fish and I have a bunch of Convict fry I'm gonna give him 6 from... Figure they're probably one of the easier fish to keep, especially for a beginner. I've also got some fry from my Electric Blue Jack Dempsey and his mate, hoping for a few EBJD fry. Look up my other account on here gatorxxx420. I got some video of the EBJD... he's my prize fish I keep.

  • Nice song, what is the artist or title of the song?

  • nice convicts :D

im taking care of a batch of fry right now (4 months old)!

what kind of camera did you use?

i need a new one because my camera sucks :/

  • @pauIchong mine just had more babies too, probably about 2 weeks old. the camera i shot this with is a canon powershot tx1. great camera for video and still. hard to go wrong with anything canon

  • How do you tell male from female is it the fins???

  • @snakeman22511 females will develop orange spotting on their sides, you can see several females in the video

  • @radean84 at what age do they develop the orange spots?

  • @LUKEKANEPAPICHULO i'd say somewhere around 6 months?? not very long

  • @radean84 awsome thanks

  • my arent growin

  • i just moved my planted 55g tank today

    7 rosy barb

    1 op gourami

    1 female convict

im thinking about getting an immature male convict and adding a more rosies and 11ish tiger barbs, my theory is the convicts will not be able to pair up until the male is mature and by then they will be used to the fish shoaling around + there are so many they wouldent be able to focus on one. i really hope it works cause that would be a sick tank, but some feedback from who have done similar is good

  • Hey, cool video! I have what may very well be a young Convict Cichlid pair, however, I'm not quite sure if one is a female. The orange spots are minimal and very faint, so I'm wondering if there is an age limit before the spots become more prominent. I suspect it's a female because I get them at the same time and they were sized similarly. This was a couple of months ago and now the obvious male is considerably larger than the other. I can also tell it's a male because the fins are longer.

  • I have young black and pink convict, do adult convicts get that big?

  • I got young convict cichlids pink and black never knew they get that big?

  • how many convicts do you have?

  • i hope my convicts breed with my new females

  • Beautiful fish

  • @sfdvlam68 thanks! can't believe how many red devil fry you have! i have one red devil in my other tank.. they are really cool fish

  • nice convicts!

  • @lottew100 thanks! i've enjoyed raising and breeding these fish
