  • Had the Soviets used the 100mm gun more often, the Americans the 90mm and the British their 17 pounder, the Tiger and Panther would not be so celebrated. Personally, if I were a division commander I would try to lower a 155 Long Tom to a flat trajectory to use against a Tiger or Panther at 500 meters. None the less, the Germans put these tanks in the field and they were good. It was over kill though as a Pzkwg could readily handle the T-34 and was a reliable tank from start to finish.

  • Michael Wittmann was killed by a Sherman Firefly in August 1944. Rest in Peace!

  • What did Hitler notice?

  • @dadepoot he noticed Michael Wittman lost a Front Toth in Battle and send him to his Dentist. see Michael Wittmann (SS Panzerkomandant) 4/5

  • What I never understood about the German Tank Engineers is that they never even tried to make a diesel fueled panzer. Diesel is cheaper than high octane petrol, less flammable and Diesel engines provide better torque, which is useful in heavy terrain. The Russians used Diesel in their tanks from very early on (Even their imported Shermans were Diesel-engined) , and post-war tanks are almost all powered by Diesel. Can anyone explain to me why?

  • @Lucasisgek82 diesel turns waxy at low temps...

maybe the powerplants didnt pass early development?

germany had its synthetic fuel plants too... maybe they kept the fuel production +supply, transportation efforts simple.

  • @infernalzen OK, so the Germans couldn't cope with waxy Diesel fuel but the Russians could? Also,It is hard to believe they were unable to make a proper Diesel Engine, they invented it!

  • @Lucasisgek82 the russian equipment has poor tolerances that didnt jam at -30.c.

engines +fuel tanks that could be heated by fires...

  • @infernalzen After doing a little research I think that you are right with your synthetic fuel argument. I didn't know Germany relied so heavily on synthetic fuel. Some other reasons for using petrol instead of Diesel were that engineers generally considered Diesel to be fuel for ships, not land vehicles. Also, the Germans thought that Diesel engines were too heavy. Lastly, Russia had been using Diesel for ages and was ahead in Diesel technology apparently.

  • @Lucasisgek82 the western allies used petrol in their tanks.

+it was only the 90's that nato realy ditched petrol for diesel

  • @Lucasisgek82

It took Russians 4 years to develop & build T34. Hitler builded Tiger tank in 10 months. They did not have a disel engin, and had no time to develop one.

  • @Lucasisgek82

As far as I know Germany was quite short of some materials like aluminium and copper, which was important for heavy diesel engines of that time.

  • @thommestom i think chromium +nickel? shortages affected their jet engines too.

the prewar mines were off limit to them...

  • @realdealforsure

it's obvious you're a complete submoron with an IQ of a cat litter. Learn to read and write and then study history you pathetic jack ass. You must be some jew piece of shit, descendant of a criminal pile of shit tribe that's been murdering people left and right for the past 3000 years. Another Kike troll on the net, a dime a dozen really

  • @scalnasdal Just remember: "krystal nacht", Holocaust, "der endlösung", Einsatzgruppen, SS-waffen. And the russians Afghan war, Chechen war, the termination of jews and the termination of millions of system criticizer and different viewing people, and the france occupation of North africa. And many, many more, almost all countrys have dark sides but it's all about how much attention there is on the "dark side"

  • The German were Pro´s!

  • @realdealforsure stalin killed more than the invaders, far more...

  • @realdealforsure 12 million ethnic germans were expelled from eastern europe immediately after the war ended. As far as the russians are concerned, the raped and pillaged their way to Berlin. Marshall Tito openly complained about the behavior of russian troops in Yugoslavia. The Yugoslavians certainly did not deserve that. The Poles certainly did not deserve to be treated like they were by the russians, especially after what the germans did to them. Ever heard of the Katyn massacre?

  • @realdealforsure Revenge does not change anything for the better. And if you believe that there was no blood toll being payed by the German populace both when the Red Army advanced *and* after the war, you haven't payed attention in history class.

  • @realdealforsure the war in russia was barbaric.

stalin probably killed as many of his own countrymen as the invaders :(

  • The reason Kurt is not mentioned is the fact he was a gunner for much of the war and had less than 100 kills as a tank commander.

He was unfairly not awarded the knight cross, which he should have won once as a gunner and once as a tank commander.

  • Sieg Heil USA war hero Gott MIT Uns

  • Yes, certainly - anything you say. Without the sinking of the Lusitania on 8 May 1915 Churchill would not have been able to get the Germans to declare war on the USA 26 years later..... all makes perfect sense ...... (sarcasm)

  • Hi!is the general Guderian not better or wittman or is the wittman better in strategie

  • 8 dislikes?,,, 8 people were t-34 tank crews in a former life,,,

  • Everyone has heard of Wittman but the biggest ace of WW2 was in fact Kurt Knispel and he is virtually unknown.

  • @alanheath yeah, four higher scoring tank aces

  • @infernalzen Sorry, I just saw your opening commentary now - unless you just changed it!

  • @alanheath i havent changed it. anyones free to comment ;)

  • @infernalzen I see someone has put up a film on Kurt Knispel!

  • @infernalzen Kurt was a gunner and not a tank commander until much later. As a tank commander he has less than 100 kills.

  • @alanheath Or Otto Carius who had a few more kills then Wittman.

He is still alive by the way :)

  • @Skalmans750 Yes, I think he runs a chemists still somewhere in the Pfalz.

  • @alanheath I belive the reason behind Wittman's fame is actually caused by the Allies! Wittman alone had a huge impact on the Allied morale so naturally they made a big fuzz about it when they finally got him...

The English were very proud of their spionage operations since they couldent contribute with much else due to the starvation of munitions and fuel caused by German submarines.

A valid proof of that is that James Bond and Wittman share the same ID code which is 007..!

  • @moOswe Very good point on the western Allies - the other aces were mainly fighting the Soviets.

I do not think that the western Allies had a shortage of munitions as those on the ground in Germany facing the RAF and USAAF would have noticed!

There was no shortage of fuel either - although most was in the wrong place as the Allies advanced into Belgium and eastern France!

  • @alanheath During the German invasion of France German submarines ambushed English cargo ships thus crippeling the English fighting capabilities. Therefore the English had to wait before they could aid France. Soon the English discovered they had to create armored convoys for their cargo ships also they had to create short wave radio radars to counter the "wolfpacks". Even after that the english were so hurt they mostly had to use gliders instead of real airplanes for a breif time.

  • @moOswe Who told you this nonsense?

  • @alanheath

Wittmann was only on 4th place here the list: 1:Kurt Knispel 162 Kills

    2. Otto Carius 150 Kills

    3. Johannes Hans Bolter 139 Kills

    4. Michael Wittman 138 Kills

From Kurt Knispel i know that he was not so popular, cose he dont want to make some orders."Befehlen wiedersetzte" dont know in english...

I think Wittmann is it cose they was in SS and thats the Elite in Hitlers Reich.

  • @Falke40lg Knispel had a reputation of being undisciplined - he refused to cut his hair apparently. Also he was from Czechoslovakia although of German (Austrian) origin.

I think Wittmann made bettter propaganda material too!

  • @Falke40lg

yeah and when i see him on pictures you can see its a good mate, and yes i see his hair ;-)

Think he was a good Kamerad!

  • @alanheath Didn't Otto Carius also have more kills to his credit?

  • @McDago100 I think it is not clear - also one of the top tank killers (I can't remember which) frequently allowed kills to go to someone else.

  • @alanheath It was Kurt Knispel.Kurt Knispel also never had a Knight's Cross. It was said he did not have "sore throat".

  • @alanheath Never heard of them. Hope they died in great pain.

  • @alanheath Agreed sadly.

  • @alanheath: Thanks for the reference to Knispel, I had not heard of him until today, though I have known about Carius, Wittman, et al. for years. This is analagous to Erich Hartmann, the highest scoring fighter ace in history, with 352 kills. Adolf Galland, who had 104 confirmed kills, and was eventually General der Jagdflieger, was dashing and better-known than the somewhat shy and retiring Hartmann.

  • @GeorgiaBoy1961 Very good point - most people have heard of Galland but not Hartman. I actually know a relative of one of the top German aces of WW2 (I won't say the name publicly as I do not want to embarrass her.)

  • @alanheath it could be because Kurt Knispel had most Tank Kills as Gunner not as Comander of the Tank. And it was the Amok Drive of Caen who made Michael Wittman verry popular. Two Days later he Died.

  • @alanheath he was a King Tiger ace right?

  • @MegaKaiser45 I don't think so because the Tiger II was not introduced until mid 1944 - I think the first unit completely equipped was on 1 September 1944. Less than 500 were made - although it would have been many more had it not been for the bombing. He may have used a King Tiger towards the end of the war!

  • @alanheath Knispel even dont recieved knight cross

  • I think that the vehicle behind the Tiger when they are pulling out of the building is an early version Panther with smoke dischargers on the turret.

  • @Panzer4F2 yes.

  • @Panzer4F2

Correct, the footage is from the henschell factory in May 1943 which makes it clear it is not a jagdpanther but an early model Panther.

For a short period in 1943the henschell factory also produced Panther.

  • The frontal armor of the Tiger is unpenetrable during those days!

  • wow what documentary is this from? I really want to watch it now

  • @mysss29 search Michael Wittmann: WAFFEN SS "Tanks" 4/5

  • @Eastsideweezy Thanks!

  • Great shot at 0:12

  • Einer der tapfersten Deutsche ! Ich neige mein Haupt vor so einem Mann !Ich hätte gerne mit ihm gekämpft !!!

  • @dennie6666 Dann wärest du jetzt tot du Blödmann Bist du so verblendet ?

  • @dennie6666

dann spiele Red Orchestra 1 Panzermaps, nenne Dich Wittmann III oder IV..... weil es gibt da wohl schon paar Wittmanns

  • Jagdpanther for sure.

  • not only was he brilliant on the battlefield but he was wounded several times in different fronts and returned to battle after each time wounded. So besides these facts he was successful in maneuvering multiple units to engage and kill enemy takes while he was involved in the thick of the combat. Theirs not to many soldiers that are willing to do that today.

  • the man shaking hitlers hand is not wittmann, but jochen peiper

  • the communist were the real baddies of world war 2

  • I am Russian and I feel somehow strange to speak, but I think that Michael Wittmann was a great tanker of World War 2 ...

I respect the soldiers and not the country and the government for which the heroes are shedding their blood.

  • cool

  • @bodyguardik wow its easier to progress in technology when u didnt loose such a war... not that i want the germans to win this war ... i wish it would never happened... anyway... the germans tanks were ahead of time...

especially the ones that couldnt get finished ... i mean u need to consider that the germans had no ressources for their expensive tanks...

and btw... i tiger 1 hasnt a good slopped armour ... but the tiger 2 well thats a different story bro

  • @bodyguardik how about panther2,maus, tiger 2 aka king tiger? xD

  • @Hellzerker about what? Panther2 - prototype only, Pzkpfw VI Ausf B - the metal of armor was of shoddy quality, so penetrated with same performance as Tiger I. Only one thing in Tiger II was really good - a gun (KwK 43 L/71). Only russian IS-2 was able to catch shell in upper front armor (but not to turret, etc.), and still be alive (but not 100%!). In last period of WW2 soviets created IS-3, wich was the only one tank capable of withstand KwK 43 L/71 attack.

  • @BigAndTall666 over-rated? while he wasnt the highest scoring commander, he did have alot of victories

  • @TheAtomicKaiser You idiot, get your facts straight before you say something. The bad sides of a Tiger is that Germany didn't have resources enough to produce many of them, and the production rate was quite low. But out in the field Tigers was the most fearsome tanks of WW2.

  • The tigers, despite their awesome firepower and armour, i would say were a key factor in Germany losing the war. They were costly, with one Tiger costing as much as 4 Stug IIIs

Tiger divisions were almost never at full strength die to mechanical failures and road-marches proved more lethal to Tigers than enemy tanks... not so tough any more

Never the less, they were a feat of German engineering and were right to be feared by the Allies.

  • @scg159 Part of the reason why they had such bad mechanical failure is that the Germans were primarily using forced labor. Sometimes the people building the tanks would intentionally sabotage the engines.

  • @fumbducks While forced labour may have hampered German manufacturing, I simply don't believe deliberate sabotage was a major cause of the Tiger's unreliability. Problems faced by tiger crews were fairly specific: engine, suspension and transmission faults being by far the most common; due to over engineered systems. I'm not saying sabotage didnt go on, im just saying it wasn't a major contributor.

  • @scg159 You are probably right.

  • @scg159 I also didn't say it was a major cause. Just one cause =)

  • In combat, the kill/loss ratio of tiger tanks was exacly 12 - 1m meaning every tiger destroys 12 enemy tanks before it gets knocked out (Not by tanks only, also included aircraft). All in all more tigers got lost due to technical problems, so total in ww2, for every tiger tank destroyed of any reason, 6.3 enemy tanks were destroyed.

    Still very impressive

  • @TheAtomicKaiser 1vs1 no Tiger wins hands down. 1 vs 500 like it usally was yeah Tiger gona loose :P

  • @SkullKing11841 nope

  • @TheAtomicKaiser

i think you need to cut back on the illegal substances

  • is that a jagpanther ot jagtiger behind the tiger at the part where they come out of factory

  • @Hellzerker well spotted :D i think its a jagdpanther?

the jagdtiger ive seen has very upright, gun mantle armour + a huge gap above the road wheels

  • @infernalzen quite sure it was Jagdpanther

  • @Hellzerker the jagdpanther i saw, even had the same kit stowage by the engine bay :)

  • @infernalzen It is the jagdpanther, the wheels are from the Panther series. Also the jagdtiger did not have steel plates so close to the wheels.

  • @infernalzen i think its a normal panther. the jagdpanther has no turret and is designed as a tank destroyer.

  • @Hellzerker YES! -Just look at the road wheels!

  • @Hellzerker its a panther ive seen the entire test film with m4 Shermans and such

  • @Hellzerker Its a Jagdpanther. The Jagdtiger hasnt such Track parts in the back above the wheels.

    Greetings from Germany

  • @Hellzerker jagdpanther

  • @Hellzerker its a jagdpanther!!

  • @deadmike73

Given that the Tiger i seen in the footage are early to mid production Tiger I variants this would rule out the jagdpanther, the vehicle is more likely a normal Panther

  • @Hellzerker jagdpanzer m8

  • Whittmann was among the most distinguished, accomplished soldier in the history of warfare. He should be revered as a soldier even though he fought for the evil adolph.

  • HEy, what the hell did Hitler notice????!!!!

  • hitler noticed there was a lot of hitler paradies poping up on you tube lol

  • HEY WHAT DID HITLER NOTICE!!! >:O

  • @SabreWolferos

That Wittmann as a results of wounds had a broken tooth, he was then sent to Hitler's personal dentist.

  • @SabreWolferos was about to ask the same!

  • Hitler noticed what....?

  • @SSUstufRudel

That Wittmann as a results of wounds had a broken tooth, he was then sent to Hitler's personal dentist.

  • @Dreachon oh wow!!

  • There will always be heroes and villains. but there will not be any more Wittman`s.

  • Could i have the name of the documentary please?

    Thanks.

  • what did hitler notice?????????? (at the very end)

  • @HeartGoldMVP that wittmann had a broken tooth as part of his war wounds

+sent wittmann to see his private dentist ;)

  • 138 tanks!!!???

u hav got to be shittin me!

  • @raap009 5years of war, 60months. he only had to shoot just over 2 tanks a month!

  • @infernalzen man he was a legend!

  • @infernalzen But he wasnt a tankofficer the whole time. He was serving with an armouredcar unit -41 and during the begining of the Eastern campaignt he commanded an assultgun (An early Stug 3 armed with a 75mm howitzer) After that it was officerschool. He only commanded tanks for a relativly short time of the war and part of that time in a Panzer 3.He got max a tear in the Tiger. And it was i the tiger he made the majority of his kills.

  • @infernalzen 141 tanks and 132 AT-guns.

  • @raap009 Otto Carius (other German Tank Ace) shot more then 150 0-0 still i bet shooting ONE is already hard

  • at the end of the video: "During his conversation with Wittmann, Hitler noticed..."

What the did he notice? i'm curious.

  • @Nukewombat666

wittmann had damaged teeth from a war wound +hitler sent him to his private dentist

  • michael wittmann it's the brother of mine grandfather

  • the German army was the best wish they were still around to take out the Wicked muslims

  • Blut und Ehre Deutsches Krieger

  • Such a shame that Knispel died only a week before the war ended. A fitting end to such a great career?

  • "Struggle is the father of all things. It is not by the principles of humanity that man lives or is able to preserve himself above the animal world, but solely by means of the most brutal struggle". 88

  • How well did Tigers fare against Soviet anti-armor aircraft like the IL-2 Sturmovik?

  • @greenthousands

think any aircrafts cannons will make a mess of the thinner roof armour

+rockets...... just isnt going to end well for the tank crew.

the stuka JU-87G had 37mm cannons, only used in anti-tank operations.

a german Rudel, took out 16 tanks? in one day +400 in total? :o

  • @infernalzen

    youtube.com/watch?v=attjLGd8rjU

  • @infernalzen about 553 tanks in total and a soviet battleship, "Marat"

  • @greenthousands

in the north african desert war, the raf used hurricanes with 40mm cannons in an anti-tank roll.

    youtube.com/watch?v=ix5xN8hlGLo

  • Heil michael wittmann !!!

    Sieg Heil!

  • Heil Michael whitmann!

  • Peiper was killed by French communists after the war, not Wittmann.

  • 2Million Germans soldier died durin this campaign, 12Million Russians died.

This ratio says a whole lot about equipment and skill. The russians won due to large numbers of Tanks, soldiers and so on.

All respect to all whom died for their country, no matter wich side they fought on.

  • @Skalmans750 And help from Americans and Canadians.

  • My country save world from Nazi. My grandfuther is burned in a tank, but he fight for the last ammo. I am not like that витманн.

  • the lives of the brave of the soldiers were wasted with suicidal tactics

  • спасти? Вы говорите дерьмо

  • LOL.

didnt stalin kill twice as many russians as people who died in the rest of the war?

  • @infernalzen

yea, i think your right, cause when i watchd this one movie " enemy of the gates " the russians killed their own men. out of all the men that died in the war theres a big ratio the russians killed their own. >.>

  • stailn had purges of alot of their top officers +took alot of people the army needed.

the germans might have had a harder time invading russia, if they had all their best men?

  • Who will save us from the Communists?

  • what commies?

the chinese are ok. (at the moment)

  • @infernalzen

    The Chinese Okay?

I believe the only government that has massacred 10's of millions of people and still is in business today.

Chinese military spending huge amounts on modernizing and expanding their military against what "enemy"?

Google finally opened it's eyes to the "real" China, but took them a while.

And American companies continue to outsource manufacturing jobs to Chinese factories that pay their workers slave wages and no benefits.

  • the person was saying about commies.

i was saying that there arent many commies left, only china?

i agree they are expanding, not open, carying out espionage...

    ww3 could be over resources.

china claims areas of the sea upto a few miles from every nation in the eastern hemisphere :(

theres oil under the sea there +they will claim it as theirs.

but that would mean walking over, vietnam, malaysia, indonesia....

  • @infernalzen

Okay, you just pushed my button a little when you put "OK" and "China" together.

You are very correct, the disputed Spratly Islands in the South China Sea is a flash-point for the future.

Thanks for your great video and like your comments regarding the assassination of Peiper.

  • think chinas own people arent to blame.

they would love to be free.

they would love to be able to have free business.

some know they arent told the truth....

history being written by the govt, regardless of whats a fact.

i have flown on cathay +now the films are full of,

a hard working official, against a corrupt businessman,

    a foreigner corrupting locals....

bet Joseph Goebbels wouldve loved to be able to do that

  • Germans, of course!

I'm from Russia, but a hate the Communists! They are destroy a great Russian Empire!

  • @Busja12 А создали еще более великую! На пике могущества в 1950тых СССР контролировал 1/3 суши и, считая Китай, чуть меньше половины населения планеты. А цари с "дворянами" просто выродились как морально, так и генетически!

  • @Busja12 I liked those from Vlasov army. ROA. At the end of the war americans stayed couple kilometers from our Capital in Czechoslovakia but they could not help the Prague revolts when people fought nazis without allies help. Americans had to fullfill the deal that Prague will be liberated by soviets and they were 3 days away. Vlasovs army helped Prague get rid of nazis having no allies in germans americans or soviets. And had no need to help Czechs but still did.

  • Wittmann Wittmann A Hero!!

  • @sdkfz162kingtiger Is he hero or not.i don't care, but the fact is that russians won that war because they fought for freedom and the truth was on russians side.

  • @msrussianpatriot he was, and who can tell what is right and wahts wrong?

i know the america was and is still wrong. and you russians were, and we all are their toys. but most of the people are to stupit to see that. they believe like foolish honks in every lie. so nobody can do anything against them. :)

  • @sdkfz162kingtiger honks?

  • @infernalzen fools

  • @sdkfz162kingtiger What are you talking about, who are american, are they gods, no they are just human like us, may be they play with us in their foreing policy but i don't want my country do be a toy in someone's hand

  • @sdkfz162kingtiger i agree, russians invade afganstan just to split the globe.

& now he talking about right & wrong.

& about american? they do what they want using propaganda.

"Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination. This is the war of the future."

    Adolf Hitler

  • @msrussianpatriot

more russians killed by stalin than by germans.

  • @msrussianpatriot ahahahahahaha man u crack me up ure so dumb
