Well, the whole thing is canned. I adore Hall and Oates, so I know this record as well as any in my collection. This is the original recording. At 2:18 he mixes up the lyrics. He says "when" and the track says "if". The drums are hitting cymbals that aren't there and there are more backing vocals than people on the stage, forget about mics. It's hard to nail it down, but most music geeks can sense a synched performance right away. Just like a tennis coach can see a double fault.
