My school has like 3 of these. Unfortunately, they're reserved for the section leaders in MARCHING BAND. seems like its a waste of these wonderful instruments.
Were you actually playing? Video was not only out of sync but your hands did not seem to be moving enough to effect each note sounded. What's the deal?
A orchestra friend of mine got himself a silver-clarinet, made out of silver (d'uh) and it is beautiful in looks and sounds perfect, but there is something odd about it. Even tho it sounds the same as any clarinet in the row of 6 we have, hes clarinet sounds clearer over the others. I myself sit at the horn-section at the brass part, far away from him, even behind the trumpets and I can still clearly hear hes playing. It is not louder, different but the sound just carries differently. Odd, imo.
That actually sounds pretty nice. I was just wondering how the tone is different from a wooden one because I cant really differentiate through a camera and speakers
@dyeom Tone comes from the shape of the bore, from the mouthpiece and the reed (and of course from the player !!! )... Material has quasi nothing to do with the tone ...
saxo soprano vous exagerez c'est bien le timbre d'une clarinette et l'instrumentiste ajoute aussi la couleur, la resonnance est en partie dans sa bouche, c'est plus complexe je simplifie
@IscaredROCK open your throat like you're singing a lower note than the one you're playing. then combine that with the finger slide. Make the diving airplane sound with your mouth (neeeaaaaiiiiirrrrrroooooowwww!) can help to learn what the throat/tongue movement feels like.
@blacknickeltenorsax Why would it sound like a saxophone? Acoustically, a clarinet is a closed pipe, straight bore, while the sax is conical. The clarinet will always have only the odd partials for overtones, while the sax gets odds and evens, regardless of what material you make it out of.
I want one!
