@GCNM07, I bought Tea Tree Oil but on the lable it says for External Use Only, is this the right one? Oh also I could only find mint extract instead of pepper mint oil, is this ok? Plz reply...THX
@WaGgZzTeRTv Without knowing the exact product you are referring to it is difficult to give advice. Please follow the instructions on the label. It the product is not for internal use do not use it as an ingredient in you tooth powder. The mint extract may not be a pure peppermint essential oil, therefore it may not be a good quality product to use in your formula.
Yes i just wanted to also mention that you can add 100% Xylitol to the dry mixture, as Xylitol has superb dental healing properties; you can get 100% Xylitol from any health food store.
@lior185 obedience plant, achira, indian shot, maranta arundinaceae are some different names of the plant (not specific names for the root, atleast i don't think) Hope i helped.
is the tea tree oil and peppermint oil is this....i have seen some at the health store...essential peppermint and tea tree oil....is this the one i need to use?
or are the essential oils only for external use?
please write back....i really want to make this toothpaste as i am a big believer in all things natural :)
@starlight2009x Yes, those are the ones. Buy only pure essential oils, and you'll be fine using them in your mouth. You're not swallowing the mixture. Yes, use the kind at the health food store. Avoid fragrance oils; they are not for medicinal use. Only pure EOs should be used. They are the ones in the little 1/2 oz and 1 oz amber bottles. If you can't get any oil out of the bottle, turn it the other way around so that the stem inside the lid is on the top side as you dispense the drops.
@xtcmoo77 Any glass container will work. Choose one with a lid so the essential oils don't evaporate off into the air. A washed-out, used spice jar that has a sifter with holes in it works well. You can sprinkle it on your (wet) toothbrush and not have to dip your toothbrush into the mixture, which could contaminate the powder. No need to refrigerate. Just keep it covered in a lidded jar. Even a squat jar with a cork lid would work. Some have little wooden spoons attached, which is nice.
How long does this mixture last when left in the bowl like that will it go bad? Is it supposed to be watery when you are brushing? Isn't 1 tablespoon of arrow starch too much?
@xtcmoo77 The tooth powder should be stored in a cobalt or amber glass container. I prefer to wet my toothbrush so the powder is more like a paste. One tablespoon of arrowroot powder is fine.
Is milled sea salt just crushed up sea salt? Do i have to get it to a very fine consistency to not scratch my teeth? And you are using the powdered stevia extract right?
I managed to get all the ingrediants, and thanks for presenting it.
I made it and trying it out, and its so fantastic, I'm going to make some for the whole family now! Great to know that each ingrediant is for a healthy purpose.
i drink liter of black tea everyday which contains several times the amount of the suggested fluoride intake as do billions in east and south asia and they seem to be doing pretty ok. i have my doubts on sodium lauryl and sodium laureth sulfate and also triclosan the ingredient in colgate total but the idea that triclosan will be fighting bacteria for hours after brushing seems pretty cool.
some tribe people in india and africa use a particular tree bark and have the healthiest teeth.
Jackie.. GREAT video! Can you list the ingredients by name so I know how to spell what I am getting to make this? It will really be helpful for my four children, two of them suffer from gum issues.
this is cool i use my imagination when i hear stuff .when i was bugged out about flouride i pcked up my arm and hammer staring at it thought i wonder if this would be better ,shook my mead and said i don't know.thank you
What's wrong with hydrated silica? Is it the silica itself or just that it is hydrated? It's natural, found as opal and in cell walls, is a mild abrasive (helps remove plaque), and is chemically inert.
I drink a colloidal silica (silica in aqueous solution) every morning, and now I am worried about it. I'm previously under the impression that it strengthens hair nails and teeth, and decreases the risk of dementia, which I've heard from many sources.
@insentientt id like to know that myself i just watched a dif video where a lady used ground horsetail herb because it has silica in it and she uses it as an abrasive in her tooth paste she said it helps strengthen the enamel on the teeth.
I love this demonstration and would like to see more. I learn much quicker from visuals and would appreciate seeing demos of salves, tinctures, oil infusions, etc.
Sodium bicarbonate is more commonly known as baking soda. It is a beneficial ingredient as it helps to lessen the acidity in the mouth. When purchasing baking soda be sure to make sure it is free of aluminum.
@GCNM07 Hey, I have sodium bicarbonate from the supermarket, no aluminum, the only other ingrediant is disodium phosphate would this be ok? and not detrimental to my teeth? Or should i buy something more pure? many thx x
sodium layrel sulphate is the one! It has casused me endless painful mouth ulcers. The last was the final straw a huge one on the gums but within a few days of using my homemade toothpaste, ti immediatley begain clearing.
I used what I could get immediatley.
Tea tree
Sea salt
Bi-carbonate of soda
organic rapeseed oil
oregano
couldnt get hold of peppermint oil but I did add some aniseed and still my mouth is fresh a as a daisy!
isnt oregano good also? People thousands of years ago used to use this?
I have been using Kingfisher toothpaste thinking it was good for being flouride free...checked the labelling a few months ago, not so good!!! Same for other so called 'organic' products such as shampoo etc....
Yes, oregano has strong anti-bacterial properties, which are beneficial in killing the bacteria that causes plaque. You could add a few drops of oil of oregano to the formula if you would like to do so.
I agree, you have to really read the labels to make sure you are making a healthy choice :)
@smuckerlingos same thing happened to me, i bought "natural" grants toothpaste, not having flourite was it's big selling point. Looking at the ingridiants one among the many chemicals it has is what's used in lethal injection, solphate chlorine or something :P
I bet u use that pounding thing as a dildo.

are you kidding me ? sodium fluoride is not toxic or harmful to humans
