These 2 Emcees were the best ,and whether or not they both resembled each other . But both Gene Rayburn & Peter Marshall should have done the Match Game /Hollywood Squares together.

They actually did...Peter had a hand in the show's development and was supposed to host the HS portion, but Orion screwed him over for w/e reason (in much the same way Bert Convy did years later w/the hosting job on 3rd Degree, which Peter was also supposed to get).

It seems odd, but many successful game show hosts are often some of the most unhappy people in Hollywood. Many of them are frustrated actors, comedians, or other entertainers.

Gene and Peter two great guys. I think MG/HS Hour would have lasted way much longer than just 9 months if Peter hosted the HS side. Gene was wonderful on the MG side. Why didn't they ask Peter and what were they thinking getting Bowser, he is not game show host material and doesn't even look like one either. Seems like they were desperate for someone on the HS side of it.

I surely do agree very much with you ,about Gene & Peter doing Match Game /Hollywood together . With Bowser he would have been fine as a Panelist , not as Gameshow Host .

Adam's right, he mentioned that on the ETHS as well that he wasn't asked, MG/HS hour with gene and Peter would have been AWESOME! and just a thought, if that had happened they could alternate hosting duties, ie. one day peter would hsot MG, while Gene did Squares, then the next day, they reverse it. when you think about it both shows have similar ideas.

They look a lot alike I think. In the late 50s or early 60s for a live Pontiac commercial, there's a part where Gene talks to himself. They needed a double to play the other Gene, so Peter was fitted with a fake nose and cheeks to look like Gene.
