Well, if you're holding from the previous note, you're going to be activating in bad places - good scores often depend on activating at the last possible moment before the next phrase begins. If you activate at the end of the previous phrase in a wide window, you waste a lot of OD. I've tried starting to sing early but it's not as reliable as the "woo" method.

I'm going for score on these runs, and playing around with trying to be quieter and/or make a more pleasant sound doesn't go well with trying to squeeze activations. You miss windows and waste your run and your time.
