  • haha NOW I'm listening the BOS DEP/ARR frequencies.. and I listened JETBLUE 845 haha... but isn't woman :(

  • Comment removed

  • fantastic in the final!!!

  • Madonna & Justin Bieber the masterminds behind this...

  • Onions should be a WHMIS controlled product after this.

  • After the landing, there was a person spotted running from the aircraft so fast, that he lost his shoes. It was later determined that it was the captain abandoning the aircraft.

  • The pilot was saying that they were carrying UN 2811.

  • boston john is the best!

  • Boston John is handling departure...

  • Many departures from best practices there. For instance, the use of ground radio wording like "Roger" is not recommended on ATC communications. Let alone the "funny" remarks on the female pilot.

  • how do you record the atc???

  • How do you make an ILS Approach without the glideslope? Is it like a non-precision approach?

  • @737FSPilot you just fly the plane, it's that easy, just fly it down manually.

  • @737FSPilot yes...the ils procedure is downgraded in non precision approach when GS is not usable

  • @tstdesign Thanks.

  • Ahah Boson John

  • Basically, whether the Emergency was due to Onions or not, when dealing with HAZMAT, especially in the aviation world, it is better to be safe than sorry. I wouldn't be pissed if I was on shift and this guy declared emergency, and I found out about the onions later. It's all part of my job man. We should all strive to handle emergencies like Mr. Boston John.

  • Think he is reporting the toxic materials as UN2811 (6.1 Toxic solids, organic, n.o.s.)

  • when he was telling the fire command the toxic chemical where you have ?? in the captions it sounds like he is saying "UN2811" which is selenium oxide which is a toxic/poisonous solid.

  • Realy cool controller ! Cooooolgan, Jet bluuuuee... thats awesome ! :-)

  • @dzeisel27 it means switch to the frequency he wants you to contact

  • coooolgan

  • HASTA LA VISTA BABY......WOW... SOUNDS HOT......

  • "Cooooolgan..." i had to LOL

Btw i just got my PPL here in italy and passed the TEA exam and you have no idea how useful are this videos to practice aeronautical conversations, ty.

  • did the onions burn? lol

  • 6:00 Cool gun ,Colgan

  • all that hassle over onions!? 5 tons of minced onions. hilarious!

  • From what I hear he says at 5:10 : UN2811

  • nobody can beat Boston John, it's only him and that controller at amsterdam, I think they're the best

  • to cool the bosstower!! XD

  • Is Ken Adams the Boston controller?

  • Nope, he isn't. The controller is "Boston John". His name is, indeed, John. I am not an aviation professional.

  • Great guy!! jajajaja

  • Too boring...

  • the jet blue pilot is HOT! lol

  • that controller sounded like john "jetbluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue" boston, didnt he?

  • cause that is him...

  • Boston John forever

  • Jet Bluuuuuuuuuue !

  • Wow. Man Boston Controller got humor.

  • haha nice controller!!

  • i love 8:31

  • sorry:_)

  • i loooooooooooove when they speak in spanish... how cool is that!!!! love the acent..for me who actually speak spanish is very nice to hear those guys talking like that

  • Alitalia --> means italian Pilots :-)

  • Yeah! But who was speaking was jet Blue and not Alitalia (who only spoke in English). It was playful banter in spanish by americans...

  • Boston John is awesome.

  • hasta la vista baby lol

  • Wow that ATC is amazing.

  • onions ....

NEVER FART IN AN AIRPLANE !!!!

  • yeah.. i did that once in c-172.. the results wern't good.. lol

  • Cooooooolgan!

  • Wow, the woman flying the Jet Blue is a pilot and a terminator fan... how cool is that?

  • Not all pilots are men ya know!! Hehe I'm a female aviator and i love it!!!!! ;-D

  • @traceynorthernstar Funny that the words"female aviator" don't make sense. The word for a woman pilot is aviatrix.

  • @aolambros Yes but i was making a point!! It was in context..

  • @aolambros Not in the UK sweetheart!!!!!! There is a world outside of the USA you know.....

  • @traceynorthernstar Yes it is. The female version of the word "aviator" is aviatrix, worldwide. In your previous reply you said yes, but now you say no?

  • @traceynorthernstar Female pilots are sexy.

  • @traceynorthernstar yea and you probably fly like you drive

  • @landmark425 In England we are actually taught how to drive and have the strictest driving test in the world!!!!!!! If you knew ANYTHING about Aviation, then you'd know the MASSIVE difference between being a 'Woman driver' and a female pilot!!! £80,000 and 3 years of training!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @traceynorthernstar oh trust me. I see women pilots in the pattern all the time, and they cant fly worth shit. Leave aviation to us...theres always ATC.

  • i wish all controllers were like this guys.good stuff

  • Cooooooooooooolgan

  • pack those onions for AIR CRAFT ready and who needs onions shipped? gawd, nasty request, who is the dumbass to accept such a request? dam it grow them in your backyard

  • I guess nothing beats a real italian minced onion...

  • sorry , "godspeed " what does it means?

  • Godspeed, as a word, is a wish for a prosperous journey, success, and good fortune (from Middle English God speed you, meaning "May God help you prosper").

  • what is the meanning of "gosspeed "?

  • it's Boston John! Hasta La Vista!

  • I love that Boston controller, and one day a Continental 383... xD

  • LOL boston john!!

  • Pilot claimed it was UN2811 they were carrying. MSDS Name: Sodium oxalate.

I can understand them being nervous but mistaking the scent of onions for that?

  • I might be wrong but what the pilot said sounds more like "UN 28211", which doesn't exist, but UN 2821 is phenol solution.

  • Buenas noches mi amiga! hahaha

  • coooooooooolgan LOL

  • coooooooolga, fantastic and tremendous evening lmao

  • roflrofl those onions must have been really pungent. sounds like the pilot was plugging his nose or using an oxygen mask?!?

  • What does it mean altimeter 3034 guys?

  • it's the alt calibration meaured in inches HG. it depends on the atmospheric situation. STD is 29.92

  • Thanks!

  • in easy to understand terms: they tell you an altimeter setting and if you don't set the airplane's altimeter to match what you are told, your instruments may show your plane flying higher or lower than it actually is which can obviously cause a crash or other problems. hope that helps. peace!

  • Thank you very much! This explanation is the most understable for me. :))

  • no problem, always glad to help. take care and peace out!

  • Yeah I definitely agree with that. She can fly with me anytime....:)

  • Jetblue sounded kinda HOT LOL

  • Couldn't agree more!!!

  • It looks like 9L4979 likes Boston John just as much as we do!

  • Why are onions being transported in the same vessel as toxic materials?

  • They're not going to fill the entire airplane with one type of thing. There are probably a bunch of computer parts, etc on board too. They don't put all the onions on one plane then bring in another plane for the computer parts.

  • whats with all the spanish talk? in boston?

  • Perfect air traffic controller Boston John, he keeps a light atmosphere and always gives his directions clearly and correctly. Now if only I could find him on liveatc...

  • jet bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue

  • cOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOlgan hahaq

  • Boston John is a winner...a great controller with a sense of humor...it seems like you can tell the temperament of an air traffic controller just by listening to his voice, and if were I checking onto his frequency, I would assume he is in a good mood...this video made me laugh out loud...also glad to hear the Air Italia landed safely, no matter how ridiculous the emergency.

  • lol coooooolgan.

  • speedbird 14G fly runway heading contact boston dep.

    Godspeed

    gotta love that

  • Notice that Boston John also pronounces his FIVES correctly as FIFES.

    Top man in my book!

  • Coooooooooooooooooooooolgan 4979~~

  • lol

  • well it may be funny, but imagine if the pilots had dismissed the smell, and rather than it being the onions it was the chems, than you probably wouldve read a different story than onions, you wouldve of read of a plane crash.

  • wow didn't know howard stern was in atc.

  • That Traffic Controller, is the best!

    Hasta la vista!

  • i'd like to hear you ATC

  • He even says FIFE instead of FIVE - always correct language.

    Very good controller.

  • hey the controller is so funny and the jet blue speaker is funny too.

  • Does anyone know why they say goodbye in spanish?

  • @QazBomber: that controller is "Boston John", easily one of the most amusing and friendly controllers I've ever heard. It's just his thing to send off planes with a "hasta la vista".

As far as the pilots, they're probably just used to him doing it and respond in kind.

  • We came to BOS as they were bringing the MD-11 off the runway with massport escourt. Intresting to hear the whole thing transpire.

  • yeah the onions were for my mom's ragu that night

  • Well, I guess you take no chances in a situation like that

  • They were carrying disodium oxalate

  • Landing was probably the right choice (I believe most smart pilots around would have done the same). However, it's ironic that the HAZMAT team (hazardous materials) identified the minced onions as the source of the problem.

  • What I don't get is why someone would pay international air freight costs to deliver MINCED ONIONS???
