The exit hole is typically large provided the person isn't incredibly skinny - M2 yaws late, but yaws incredibly violenty. Hitting a thin target is like hitting them with 7.62 M80 - it will put them down, but unless you hit something vital they may be able to fight another day.

@freddythestandard Not necessarily. People have survived center mass .50 cal hits. Charles Alvin Beckwith, for example.  Bullet damaged has many factors that even headshots aren't always guaranteed kills.

It will also canoe your head out where nothing is left but a few pieces of brain around where you got shot.
