@KKinsane2009 a MAC address is a unique address given to any network interface device (NIC). The PSP has a wireless access, there for has a NIC, and that NIC is given a MAC address. I believe people worry that Sony will ban their PSP from online play if their MAC address is known.

the psp has- 32MB Ram -two MIPS R4000 processors that can run as fast as 333 MHz -24-bit color.

im not a pro at network security but yea i know they cant do anything with a macadres(hack). just since everyone alse hid theres so did i just in case.. only thing they can do is trace back to you(or where you conected) if you did somthing illegal in someone alses wireless and you had the bad luck that the router registered your macadress.. and also had the bad luck that they saw your video.. but other then that iv done nothing and youd prob be stuck by lighting before any of that can happen

Mac address is a way of distinguishing your psp from anothers, This allows sony to limit access to their services if they so choose (psn store, etc) But they CANNOT force a psp bricking update without requiring user participation, And to be honest, who would brick their own psp?
