Our UK state funded health service runs alongside private medical care. It essentially means is that for people who can and want to, they can pay insurance companies and recieve private health care if they so wish. For everybody else, they recieve FREE health care that in many ways can outshine private health care. I am a junior doctor and I work for the NHS, and have also been a patient, so can vouch for this. The American people, who came out in droves of their own accord to debate the issue of health care were honest, real citizens many of whom were concerned senior citizens. After watching hours of footage from said debates I can understand their anger. Not one of their questions were answered with anything other than vague statements and in many cases with disdain from the speaker. Our UK state funded health service runs alongside private medical care. It essentially means is that for people who can and want to, they can pay insurance companies and recieve private health care if they so wish. For everybody else, they recieve FREE health care that in many ways can outshine private health care. I am a junior doctor and I work for the NHS, and have also been a patient, so can vouch for this. What is wrong with some of you people. I wouldn't believe the hype from the right.

After watching hours of footage from said debates I can understand their anger. I haven't seen the "ABC Special" so I can offer no comment, but if your research begins and ends with a network expose, then I suggest you need to do better. Remember the exploding side-impact pickup truck footage that was staged by NBC, and for which they were successfully sued? Canadians who can afford to do indeed travel to your country to avoid long waits for surgery. Our system is not perfect, but waiting in line sure as hell beats outright denial of care for financial reasons.

It comes from taxes but you wouldn't see the benefit in it becuase it doesn't just benefit you. Ultimately what would happen is that you wouldn't be paying insurance premiums becuase your healthcare would be state funded and you would be paying for it through taxation. We do also have private care here....they run hand in hand and everyone also has the option of private health care

Yes, we do not let 'illegals' die on the side walks outside of our hospitals. What kind of civilized nation would? But the bulk of the uninsured who find their way into EDs are employed citizens who can't afford coverage and as a result all hospital costs increase. By expanding coverage to this [ large] group we drastically reduce ED costs, the savings passed on to health care consumers.

Check out the Netherlands healthcare system. It's nationalized healthcare system has "end of life counseling" panels and used to assist in suicide at the patients request. Now, they don't even have to have the patients permission. For Gods sake, please look into these facts before you let this shit loose in America.
