  • @ksjuggalo1 No offense, but I had a 60,000 lb wrecker on the back of the HET i'm driving in the video, and as you can see, the others were empty. I kept up with them no problem and routinley hot 58 MPH on Tampa going North and South.

  • @ksjuggalo1 Can you read? I shot this clip while driving from Tallil to Scania, that's the southern AO. No, I am not an E-7. I am a civilian. Seriously read the description. And as I said before, our HET and others I have driven did 58 no problem.

  • @Dodgeoffroadfreak All HETs in Iraq and Afghanistan are uparmored now, probably one of the safest vehicles to be in for an IED. But they have been hit and guys have died driving them. Depends on the size of the IED.

  • I believe this was my unit the 1166 cuz we were out there from march 2010 to dec 2010. It was the Massachussetts National Guard. I miss it so much!

  • @jessieny16 It's quite possible, I would have had the unit info for my end of paperwork, but never kept it.

  • @jar288 DON'T be an 88M, they're useless sacks of shit. All they do is drive. They're not even allowed to shoot back when fired upon, that's why they have escorts. The TCNs and other civilians did a FAR better job.

  • @MAOfights I'm useless? I was the one escorting them. Why would you need an escort? Has an 11B ever went on a mission and needed an escort? When I was in Iraq, they weren't allowed to open their windows, open their doors, or return fire. Furthermore their training doesn't translate in the civilian world they don't get civilian CDLs or Hazmat certs, so WHY would anyone pick this MOS? They do a shit job, ALWAYS had fewer problems with TCNs or KBR driving, 88Ms always jacked things up. Twit.

  • @iamslknick78 For what it's worth, I was filming and driving in our HET, I was with KBR. I enjoyed my time out there, a lot of hard work at times under a lot of stress doing recoveries, but overall it was a life experience that I'll always remember.

    You obviously know nothing about tactics or what 88M's are trained to do. I was a OWT for a while at Fort Hood and I was assigned to teach counter-IED and convoy ops.

What they ACTUALLY do is sit their asses in the truck, drive of the road, run into hesco barrier, forget to tighten loads, let us bang their women, and generally be useless. I once saw an 88M unit use one of their trucks as a rabbit, while hauling a load of ammo. It burned on MSR Tampa all night and into the next day. Yeah, they're a bunch of rocket scientists. Simple fact. They weren't allowed to return fire. That's it.

A few years ago, CALL said to push through ALL direct and indirect fire for all convoy ops, which is why they started getting security from gun trucks. There is only so much firepower a HET or HEMTT can carry, whereas an ASV, Stryker, etc can carry much, much more. It WAS better for the gun trucks to herringbone and let the convoy push. Furthermore, good luck getting resupplied without Trans. IF you are a Soldier, you obviously do not understand the value of Logistics. Go read something on the Battle of the Bulge and see how supply could have changed the battle earlier.

  • @MAOfights I've NEVER left the wire with 88Ms without them jacking something up. Blowing tires, dropping loads, weapons malfunctions, all kinds of crap. I NEVER had a problem with KBR. 88Ms are useless turds, why else would they choose 88M as an MOS? Like I said, I saw 88Ms doing escorts, and end up with a truck hauling ammo as rabbit, sleeping in a turret, getting lost. 2 words: Jessica Lynch. Perfect example. None of their 50s worked and they got lost, IN A CONVOY. How does that happen?

  • @iamslknick78 First off...you werent there so you don't know what happened then on that convoy. Secondly...Jessica Lynch was not an 88M....so....if you are going to try to make a point at least pay attention to detail. Face it....you obviously do not respect the tough job that these Soldiers have. You would rather starve and not be resupplied apparently then admit that these Soldiers complete a vital mission. Carry all you need for months on your back...I'll take resupply from 88M's, thank you.

  • @MAOfights 1. Everyone in the army knows what happened. Combat support troops in a combat zone equals a bunch of M2s that didn't fire a single round because they didn't adjust headspace and timing. 2 I'd respect them if they did their job in a competant manner. 3 Don't be stupid, most resupply is doen by KBR and TCNs, who do their job without doing stupid things that endanger other's lives.

  • @MAOfights That just hurts my feelings. No, I'm not clueless about logistics. I'd just rather be supported by people who are competent (KBR) rather than people who jack everything up (88M). So that I actually get resupplied.

  • @iamslknick78 You must be a contractor then and not a Soldier. KBR and other contractors fuck up more than you could possibly know. A contractor in Kuwait pushed supplies back to the US that were needed for my division when we arrived in country. They forgot to check the system to see what had been staged ahead. I have never had a problem like that with Army Logistics or with getting resupplied when it comes from the Army. Contractors are ALWAYS late which degrades our mission capabilities.

  • @MAOfights Funny, when I was in country I saw 88Ms constantly blow tires on Hesco barriers, lose an ANCD every other week, lose 11 rifles on one stretch of road, freak out that there were "Iraqis 15 ft from the convoy" while we were on an Iraqi base, and countless other stupid things. I never had a problem with KBR, and only slight problems with TCNs. This is what I saw. Maybe only the idiot 88Ms were deployed when I was there, but what are the odds.   • @iamslknick78 Failure of the group falls on the leadership. Lack of intel and communication (besides the cureent situation on ground) lead to the mission failure not the actions of one particular individual or MOS. GET IT RIGHT!

  • @iamslknick78 Thanks for the positive note on KBR. I was there in '09-'10, as a contractor, we get shit talked a lot. But I was outside the wire almost everyday doing some sort of recovery mission. I worked a lot of hours on Tampa and the other MSRs and ASRs in the southern AO. We tried our best to get everyone's equipment back to base ASAP.

  • The HETS in this video were empty except ours, we had a civilian Century style wrecker on it, about 60,000lbs. The flatbeds were all loaded, odd that they were bringing supplies northbound that late in OIF. My only assumption was that the unit was moving possibly into Anbar Province with the USMC moving out later that summer.

  • @BloodyAlbaoz Honestly, no idea. I was with KBR Recovery, and our HET had to get back north and we attached to these guys. I can't remember, sorry. They were the fastest convoy I was ever on though going up Tampa.
