  • Could someone please tell me what is the chord progression 2:20-2:30? I know, it's a challenge.

  • I would really like to know how there would be dislikes to such beautiful music like this. John Coltrane, you are a legend of jazz.

  • Very important peice of music here, if onl our youth could understand the significance of this incredible peice of art.

  • @BMGMovement I'm 20 and I love his music. It is more then beautiful. It is unspoken words hidden beneath the soul. I prefer this to any of the so called music in my generation. Makes me wish I was born then to hear him play

  • Everytime I think about sax I jazz in my pants.

  • Hot blood.

  • Chasing that Train.

  • Nice!!!

  • I just jazzed in my pants.

  • @mamba109 Hilarious.

  • Honestly, Mr. Coltrane looks like a lot Denzel Washington, he's got way more talent though. lololol

  • @Budnickb I always unconsciously associated them as the same person and never really took any notice.

  • I JUST CAME

  • I want to watch cowboy bebop now..... again.

  • sim city?

  • @infomaster4 Bingo

  • Wow! Elvin Jones!

  • Coltrane Sundia

  • Never attempt to force a man out of a jazz trance, especially when he's chasing the Trane.

  • Great drummer

  • john cole train

  • "Could find any John Coltrane, so heres another song about a train"

  • @thenfm Are you calling Jazz hipster? And Faggy?

I think you need to check your brain cogs.

  • Oh my goodness...just listen to all that. The drums and bass are holding everything together so damn well...and those chords on the piano are just so amazing....and the melody of the sax......I'm sorry...I'm just loving Coltrane's music like I always do...

  • HOT CHOCOLATE!

  • Love Coltrane. So much feeling in every note; even when he is speedy. He does it right. Some have soul in their playing, some don't. Coltrane did.

  • Elvin, Elvin, Elvin!!!! Shit.

  • melhor do mundo para min

  • mestre

  • i like the good latin style he plays at the begining

  • 6:11 is the best moment in music history

  • Who's the piano player on this album and what else has he recorded? The only piano player I know in Jazz is Bill Evans. The piano solo in this is really nice.

  • @cardinalfire999 tyner. mccoy tyner.

  • Respond to this video... try "inception." 1962, or 64. i forget.

  • I'm primarily a rock fan, but this album ranks among my "perfect" albums; the kind of album where there is no weak song and you don't skip around. Other "perfect" albums of mine are Pink Floyd's DSOFTM and U2's Joshua Tree.

  • @Madman007 I couldn't agree with you more. I may thrash to D.R.I., but this just puts me on a whole different planet. It's very difficult for me to put into words how much Coltrane has influenced me.

  • @Madman007 I agree. Some of my other 'perfect' albums include Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and Radiohead's Ok Computer and the two albums you mentioned.

  • @cardinalfire999 I can't believe I forgot OK Computer! A "perfect" album of mine too. And the piano player on Love Supreme is none other than the great McCoy Tyner. And his solos are excellent. Coltrane's sax never dominates over Tyner's sound- it compliments it. That's rare!

  • @Madman007 Yes I thought that as I was listening to it, the band really seem to gel on this recording. Tell me, i've been looking at purchasing a copy of this album, because i've only really been into Kind of Blue and Bitches Brew as far as my Jazz interests go, and then I found out there is a two disc version of A Love Supreme, is that any good? Or is the album good value for money or would you recommend sticking to the single disc?

  • @cardinalfire999 I actually wasn't aware of a 2 disc version. I have come across the live version, which they only recorded once. It expands on the studio version in places but the sound quality is not as rich as the studio version. Bitches Brew is also a powerful album. Ironic because when it comes to duos, NOBODY can touch the likes of Miles and Coltrane! Check out some of their Live In Stockholm from 1960. The music's so tight I don't want to turn it off!

  • @cardinalfire999

What about the first 5 Led Zeppelin albums? It's impossible to compare that to this, though. Same with Fleetwood and Radiohead.

  • "Resolution in western tonal music theory is the move of a note or chord from dissonance (an unstable sound) to a consonance (a more final or stable sounding one)."

  • BEST album ever recorded all time

  • @fastborzoi nah, Black Saint and the Sinner Lady and Trout Mask Replica are better

  • @fat8622 Everyone has their own opinion guys.

  • God inspiered master piece from all perspectives!music for millenioums 2come .Hits the listener like a punch in the somach.ALL TIME CLASSIC FOR ALL THE BIILION TRILION YEARS TO COME

  • I am not what you could call a jazz fanatic by any stretch of the imagination (yes, I've heard lots and understand the music), but this album is undoubtedly one of the greatest of all jazz albums and, for that matter, one of the most important pieces of musical expression of the twentieth century. This particular track has one of the best jazz melodies I have ever heard. A tragedy he died so young....*sigh*

  • EARGASM! THIS IS JAZZTASTIC! :D :D :D

  • John didn't just go to the Celestial Kingdom, he's god himself

  • @Aaronlongville far from it aaron

  • .... LOVE... where is the love button? you can't say you just "like" genius

  • It's just supremacy.

  • oh John Coltrane! Thank you, Mr. Coltrane.

  • Recorded in 1964....Proof that great music is ageless!

  • I thank my Jazz professor for facilitating the most intricate lectures about the most influential artist to ever pick up an instrument. (SUMMERTIME) is another Jazz masterpiece.

  • @kassanova90210

Kassanova090210, i'm no expert and no jazz professor... but, to the best of my knowledge, one of GGershwin's masterpieces is indeed "Summertime" & the cotton is high...!?

my expert Jazz professor taught me too well not to speak of what i have absolutely no clear idea of...!

  • this is jazz passion. genius, and innovation wrapped in a song! One of the best jazz albums ever in my opinion

  • When was this piece recorded?

  • This is the shit right here! I'm sure most people have never even heard of Coltrane, or care enough to know...

  • how the fuck does this have 2 and half thousand views and a video of a cat sneezing have half a million or more?

  • @gingersoll6

exactly. these days it is somewhat hard to recognize genius when pop culture gets systematically dumbed down every year...

  • @gingersoll6

    Achoo!! - meow.

Because I deserve to be recognised for my, strangely human, physical ailment that they find so amusing.

I prefer this myself as well.

  • @gingersoll6 Because people are stupid, that's how. I decided that I really don;t care if retards are too vapid to get greatness (COltrane for example) because it keeps what I love pure and free from their ignorance. The day I hear some douche in an Ed hardy shirt say he likes Dave Brubeck is the day I'll probably end up in the newspaper.

  • @i3u7n5 Exactly. Who cares about dimwits? It's their loss. But we should be grateful that now we have a medium to interact with each other, wherever we are. So we can get in touch with numerous others who share our interest. We're no longer limited to small groups of enthusiasts. Almost 10K views and no dislikes, that's good enough for me. Honestly, I wouldn't even want this to be massively popular.

  • @gingersoll6 That was one hell of a sneeze.

  • @gingersoll6.. funny- but I know! I sometimes feel as if I'm an extra in the movie Idiocracy:(

  • @gingersoll6 Because people have become simple minded.

  • @gingersoll6

A reflection of mainstream culture, or lack thereof.

  • @gingersoll6 lots of factors, can't be frustrated. doesn't make the music any less than what it is

  • @gingersoll6 cause cats are cute and cuddly. Coltrane is DEAD.

  • Comment removed

  • @gingersoll6 lol jk seriously though check out his track "alabama"

  • @gingersoll6 Welcome to you uncultured idiocracy.

  • @gingersoll6 DUDE, KITTEH SNEEZED :D

  • @gingersoll6 because cats are adorable. john coltrane is not. there's also the fact that comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges, or for that matter, cats and old black jazz musicians. what's wrong with you.

  • @cmonutube What about a video of Coltrane sneezing?

  • @gingersoll6 put it up son

  • @dvdrand : thats cause most people would rather listen to bullshit like lady gaga, lil wayne, and justin bieber.....they cant dig REAL music such as this.

  • Hysterical and pathetic..975 views....one of the greatest artists America has ever produced...unbelievable...

  • YES I love this.

  • This is my favorite part. Thanks for uploading.
