@BMGMovement I'm 20 and I love his music. It is more then beautiful. It is unspoken words hidden beneath the soul. I prefer this to any of the so called music in my generation. Makes me wish I was born then to hear him play
Oh my goodness...just listen to all that. The drums and bass are holding everything together so damn well...and those chords on the piano are just so amazing....and the melody of the sax......I'm sorry...I'm just loving Coltrane's music like I always do...
Who's the piano player on this album and what else has he recorded? The only piano player I know in Jazz is Bill Evans. The piano solo in this is really nice.
I'm primarily a rock fan, but this album ranks among my "perfect" albums; the kind of album where there is no weak song and you don't skip around. Other "perfect" albums of mine are Pink Floyd's DSOFTM and U2's Joshua Tree.
@Madman007 I couldn't agree with you more. I may thrash to D.R.I., but this just puts me on a whole different planet. It's very difficult for me to put into words how much Coltrane has influenced me.
@cardinalfire999 I can't believe I forgot OK Computer! A "perfect" album of mine too. And the piano player on Love Supreme is none other than the great McCoy Tyner. And his solos are excellent. Coltrane's sax never dominates over Tyner's sound- it compliments it. That's rare!
@Madman007 Yes I thought that as I was listening to it, the band really seem to gel on this recording. Tell me, i've been looking at purchasing a copy of this album, because i've only really been into Kind of Blue and Bitches Brew as far as my Jazz interests go, and then I found out there is a two disc version of A Love Supreme, is that any good? Or is the album good value for money or would you recommend sticking to the single disc?
@cardinalfire999 I actually wasn't aware of a 2 disc version. I have come across the live version, which they only recorded once. It expands on the studio version in places but the sound quality is not as rich as the studio version. Bitches Brew is also a powerful album. Ironic because when it comes to duos, NOBODY can touch the likes of Miles and Coltrane! Check out some of their Live In Stockholm from 1960. The music's so tight I don't want to turn it off!

God inspiered master piece from all perspectives!music for millenioums 2come .Hits the listener like a punch in the somach.ALL TIME CLASSIC FOR ALL THE BIILION TRILION YEARS TO COME
I am not what you could call a jazz fanatic by any stretch of the imagination (yes, I've heard lots and understand the music), but this album is undoubtedly one of the greatest of all jazz albums and, for that matter, one of the most important pieces of musical expression of the twentieth century. This particular track has one of the best jazz melodies I have ever heard. A tragedy he died so young....*sigh*
I thank my Jazz professor for facilitating the most intricate lectures about the most influential artist to ever pick up an instrument. (SUMMERTIME) is another Jazz masterpiece.
Kassanova090210, i'm no expert and no jazz professor... but, to the best of my knowledge, one of GGershwin's masterpieces is indeed "Summertime" & the cotton is high...!?
my expert Jazz professor taught me too well not to speak of what i have absolutely no clear idea of...!
@gingersoll6 Because people are stupid, that's how. I decided that I really don;t care if retards are too vapid to get greatness (COltrane for example) because it keeps what I love pure and free from their ignorance. The day I hear some douche in an Ed hardy shirt say he likes Dave Brubeck is the day I'll probably end up in the newspaper.
@i3u7n5 Exactly. Who cares about dimwits? It's their loss. But we should be grateful that now we have a medium to interact with each other, wherever we are. So we can get in touch with numerous others who share our interest. We're no longer limited to small groups of enthusiasts. Almost 10K views and no dislikes, that's good enough for me. Honestly, I wouldn't even want this to be massively popular.
@gingersoll6 because cats are adorable. john coltrane is not. there's also the fact that comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges, or for that matter, cats and old black jazz musicians. what's wrong with you.
@dvdrand : thats cause most people would rather listen to bullshit like lady gaga, lil wayne, and justin bieber.....they cant dig REAL music such as this.
Could someone please tell me what is the chord progression 2:20-2:30? I know, it's a challenge.
