  • Creepy. in one word... Fabulous dancing though!

  • I honestly love this movie. I realize it lacks a story line, but it is really beautiful. I am such a fan of ballet, I really would like to take it one day. This movie may only be good to those who like ballet. Not for all.

  • this movie is a fucking rip off of "Perfect Blue"

  • For the final dance they CG'd Natalie's face onto a professional ballerina's body. Natalie didn't actually dance most of this. You can catch it all in the extra features of the DVD.

That said, she was absolutely riveting in this film. Flawless acting.

  • I love this movie but it can be awkward watching some of the scenes with your mother. I love Natalie Portman because of this movie.

  • Lol my friend girl loves the psychotic-ness of this movie.

  • alright....I was watching dubstep.....how the hell did I came here?! O.o

  • Nice dances moves, she got there

  • Love it so much , so graceful , beautiful -3 and whats on her back? :)

  • I am a dance and she did good from what I saw her tuning a running around an staring at the cameras she did not really dance in that part so how can that be perfect that's not a good dancing moment they should have put some other dance

  • i love the guy WOW! hahaha xD i mean, natalie was so amazing in this scene! and at the end when she says " i felt it, perfection, i was perfect" i was so shocking, i even started to cry, because...damn! she is right! she was perfect!

  • this movie was brilliant.... the last 15 minutes or so have got to be some of the best I've ever seen in cinema. It's hypnotizing, i just cant look away.

  • One of my favorite scene of this film

  • spank it.

  • absolutely love the dancing....esp. when she becomes the black swan, but as for the movie as a whole......ehh, not much to go crazy about

  • well, she is not a ballerina so she cant dance like one. i like her swan hands. but still....

  • Jesus people, what made this movie were her expressions, her face, her crying and her ACTING, not the dancing...

  • I need to unleash my black swan side.

  • Im a dancer and im not offended the real dancer didnt get credit, its a movie, its entertainment, its hollywood, get over it.

  • @cheerbunnii Natalie Portman did 80% of the dancing herself.

  • Can anyone please tell me the name of the song played when mila kunis is dancing and Thomas comes n tells Nina watch the way she moves... She's not faking it!! Please tell me!!!

  • I do not understand why the "prince" was changing into a scary thing and a human? Can someone tell me?

  • @xXxAmyPalmerxXx I know that's not her, I was saying she trained hard to look like a dancer from the chest up on the close shots. From far away, it's definitely a double.

  • @thatonechick2012 True that. I've seen young ballet dancers feet all bruised and callused from years of dancing when, at the same time, they're not good enough to be called professional. There's no way some actress chick in her twenties is going to learn the Black Swan dance in a month and perform beautifully and without flaw...no way in hell.

  • 0:30 BACK CHICKEN SKIN

  • @rachelw1228 She trained hard for this movie, that really is her dancing, that's why they don't show her feet; she's probably got bad point. Also her posture is sloppy.

  • @thatonechick2012 she doesnt use point thats why and no all the complicated moves are not her

  • @n8todd23 I'm a professional ballet dancer and by experience of 12 years in ballet, you can tell if thats fake or not. I love Natalie's acting but a real dancer did the real ballet moves. And I bet all of these people who say Natalie does not do the ballet know what they are saying so I would be quiet. It's so offensive to dancers to be giving the person who didn't do it credit than the person who did preform nothing but a hand model! It's just rude in general!

  • Natalie Portman only did the head. That was photo edited into a real dancers body. I am a dancer and all this movie is sending is the bad side of the ballet world. I don't exactly hate it but, this movie is a bit offensive to ballet dancers

  • @rachelw1228 how is it offensive?

  • this movie changed somehow my life since i saw it 1 year ago..:P :O..!!!

  • @fayyyyy96 i just saw it and it changed mine

  • I feel truly sorry for those who watched this movie and only looked at the ballet. This is a compelling examination at the frailty of the human psyche and one of the most thought-provoking films i have ever seen.

  • @StealthKiller123 Excellent observation. Oddly enough, I can't stand this ballet but I loved the movie. Enough so that I can tolerate the ballet a little more since seeing the movie. I think it should have won best picture.

  • @richspanky72 Absolutely agree. It's also a damn shame that the film wasn't eligible for best soundtrack, which i thought was pretty amazing.

  • @StealthKiller123 To be honest, I also saw this movie and focused mostly on the ballet... because this movie is not thought-provoking to me. It is basically a newer version of "Repulsion" starring Catherine Deneuve. It also has themes similar to "A Tale of Two Sisters." It's not a bad movie but it's neither the first nor the best "compelling examination at the frailty of the human psyche."

  • @NickiDreaE I absolutely respect your opinion. I personally found the focus on the doppelganger, and the duality of human nature to be very intriguing. It's very hard to be the first one to do something, but the beauty of art is perspective, and i feel that Black Swan introduces a new perspective to these themes.

  • @StealthKiller123 You need to see Jacobs Ladder

  • @bud389 I have man, excellent film, one of my personal favourites.

  • @StealthKiller123 ripped off a Japanese anime horror from the 90's. Same story, down to the fucking ballet.

  • @LimeGuy101 Great to know I'm not the only one with a knowledge of horror that many film fans lack. Plus the 'perfect' dancing was down to prof. dancers and cgi guys who all did a brilliant job! Posing stiffly ain't dancing. What was wrong with ALL getting the full, honest credit they deserved? Oscar would have gone to Benning, that's why. H'wood doesn't do originality or honesty.

  • @MrKLT1945 this should be top comment.

  • @StealthKiller123 Thats so true, tho this movie creeped me out so bad i had to watch it in segments. I hate seeing people in pain. Natalie Portman is a great actress!

  • @StealthKiller123 I feel truly sorry for you if you find a film such as this "thought-provoking"

  • @piex666 Dear God's special little helper,

I would like to personally apologize to you for enjoying a good film. I hope that you can forgive me.

    Regards,

    S

  • her eyes :OO 0:06 that's scary :OO

  • *SPOILER ALERT* This was a solidly good movie. This coming from a straight guy who doesn't give a damn about ballet. The first time I saw it, I thought it was freaky, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. It's a very good illustration of a poor girl's descent into mental illness. I enjoyed how she transforms into the Black Swan in her own personal life as well as during the ballet. Plus, if you have a scene with Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman having sex... your movie is pure win.

  • Just like with any great work of art, this movie shatters all of your assumptions and understandings of how the world and the mind works, and somehow almost blurs the contrast between such black and white concepts of reality and illusion, of sanity and insanity, all with this fixation on black and white symbolism. It's genius, and it will still be on your mind for DAYS after watching... LOVED this movie.

  • And the oscar goes to...

  • I dont like her.

  • Has anyone uploaded the next segment of her Black Swan? When she completely transforms?

I may not know much about ballet, but that scene HAUNTS me.

  • @SGTItachi47 watch?v=oU9lm_nNAlY&feature=related is the part where she transforms

  • Her eyes .. o.O

  • I love this movie! Amazing :)

  • The fact natalie portman did so so well as a dancer is very impressive and the fact she had to do it in a time limit is even more impressive. But some people are still not happy with that. Would you rather natalie portman train for a decade and then they can do the movie? But in the end, people will always have something to complain about

  • that wasn't dancing..

  • Comment removed

  • to DeathlySyndrome y wuld u hate natalie portman im pretty sure ur just jealous she is very talented so think about u just wrote it is fine to hate but u dont have to post it here

  • God I hate Natalie Portman

  • @DeathlySyndrome Then why come to a video where she's starring in just to bitch. You're only wasting your time, where you could be watching something that you DO enjoy...

  • @DeathlySyndrome What the fuck did ever do to you? Hate is a pretty strong word for someone whom I doubt you have ever met.

  • @DeathlySyndrome If you hate her, why you came here?

  • Ohmygod, the idea of the movie wasn't the ballet, it was the schizophrenic delusions of nina, who happened to be a ballet dancer. the stress of her lead part in the ballet Swan Lake added to her mental disease and the movie's focus was on that, not the actual dancing. Natalie did a fantastic job for someone who had only trained for what, a year? It was an amazing movie and very thought provoking.

  • Natalie gives me schizophrenia....

  • this movie is just brilliant.. and I thought it was gonna suck.

  • I loved the movie and Nathalie, being the scaringly talented actress she's always been, totally freaked me off. Playing Nina's part the way she has was the same that the way Nina herself played the Swan Queen part: achingly perfect. I'll never watch "Black Swan" ever again, because it was so special I think the spell could break if I did. I saw "Swan lake" performed by the Moscow City Ballet last year and I think that the two experiment were kinda... alike.

  • go to 0:07 to have your soul burned...

  • I swear it looked better with the whole movie

  • Natalie Portman can still act, and most likely now dance, better than any of you haters. So get a life and stop being dumb and fat on a computer.

  • i watched this scene so many times. it's entrancing!

  • Natalie scared the f$ck out of me

  • It takes ballet dancers a lifetime to become professionals (well except Baryshnikov who started in his teens), so NP wasn't going to do it in a year. Even Zoe Saldana who was professional trained in her youth in ballet needed a double for her role in Centre Stage. Ballet was just a theme for this movie anyway. The real story was her descent into madness and MK as her alter ego. I love ballet and didn't go to see this expecting to see expert dancing. When I want to see that I'll head to ROH

  • *Encore* Loved that scene, it was so fierce...know I re-winded like 3 times lol.

  • So that's what they call "dance" in Hollywood?

Well, Natalie is great at acting, but I think they should have

casted (?) another woman. What about Lea Michele?

  • Ok people she can't become a pro dancer in a year. It just doesn't happen! So give her a break, she did a good job

  • Clearly for artistic integrity...credit must go to the individual who did the dancing in the film...and her name must be known and credited. All artists of whatever genre must demand full disclosure.

    ignato100

  • why couldn't you show the whole scene?

  • @Komnenit para tu informacion ignorante es el que se queda con la duda, no el que pregunta ;)

  • Whoever says that this movie isn't Swan Lake clearly didn't understand the movie.

  • I LOVE NATALIE PORTMAN.

  • She's a terrific actress since she was a teenager and sinc then she has grown tremendously especially in this film . For ex. , she was in Leon:The Professional and she had to seduce the audience as she did in Black Swan . She's one of my idols and I will always look up to Natalie Hershlag (changed her name to Portman) no matter how many haters hate . How much money do you have compared to Natalie ? Probably two cents . So suck golf balls

    H A T E R S !

  • I wish i had guts to see this films again

  • in capitalist America swan dance you

  • after watching the movie i was like "wonderful and deep movie, i'll not forget it, ohh now let's have a look on youtube comments about this movie, what will they talk about? my first guess is there will be a debate between "number ones" saying she is not a professional dancer"

guys, enjoy life and be cool for the first time in your life

  • This movie isnt about ballet. It's about the emotional instability and delusional psyche of the character, who just happens to be a ballet dancer. That is why a majority of the shots are directly of her face and not her feet. The people on here saying she can't dance either think bootyshaking is dance or they are experienced ballerina's who try to compare Natalie's year of training to their extensive abilties. FAIL. This movie is entertaining, thought-provoking, and real, isnt that enough?

  • @timmcgrw4 Oh course its about Ballet >.>

  • Please if you want to see The Swan Lake, go and buy your tickets, but this movie is NOT Swan Lake and it is not about ballet, so it really doesn't matter if Natalie can dance or not, she is a wonderful actress and she did put a lot of effort, which probably you all wouldn't be able to do.

  • @podmorepam in the movie they express several times that it's a remake of the old classic, never said once in the entire movie that it was swan lake.

Pay attention is what I'm saying here.

  • Even if Natalie didn´t dance anything, the performance was superb as an actress, that´s why she was critically acclaimed. Too many jealous people on here

  • como se llama esta cansion?? please!!

  • @siDeniTa Como se llama? Se nota tu ignorancia. Pertenece al tercer acto del Lago de los Cisnes, justo cuando Odile (el cisne negro) entra

  • @TheManinMoscow45 What.. What was that?

  • Hilarious. I love when people take dance seriously.... The only way it pays bills is at a night club....

  • @Gades117 heard of a ballet company? lolololololololol go fuck yourself bra<3

  • @naianmar1231 I have but the pay is terrible so you go fuck yourself with a sandpaper condom Bra or bring your bitch face down here so I can slap it and make you my black swan that got plucked....

  • @Gades117 Shut up. Clearly you know nothing about the arts.

  • One of the best (Just because of the sex)

  • This scares me

  • Natalie Portman is an amazing actress, she made this movie her own, with other actresses i cant imagine it being half as good.

  • No offense, but she needs to drink more fluids. The cords in her arms are like strips of beef jerky.

  • @ellaloure Can't stop laughing. Geez!

  • @garciagar64 Yeah who takes this @#$% Seriously.... WAAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Her eyes will give me nightmares

  • Well of course. She's not doing most or any of the dancing. But just because she isn't dancing most or all of the time doesn't mean she isn't a great actress. At first I watched this film and it scared the hell out of me. I read the synopsis on Wikipedia and watched it again now I love it.

  • Why are we doing this to our women? Its horrible.

  • You people should calm down. It's a decent psychological thriller which is mostly symbolism for the pressure on women in American society today. Sure, Natalie didn't do much real dancing but who the hell cares, shut up about it. Sarah Lane did the full body shots, Natalie P herself admitted that she only did what she could, the best she could do it, end of story.

  • @xb00mdeeboomx So this movie is like Fight Club, but for women?

  • @SweetZombiJesus Kinda, but I know guys who enjoy the movie as well :p I thought Fight Club was a good movie too.

  • @xb00mdeeboomx I already have Black Swan on my hard drive. I think I will watch it this week-end.

Out of curiosity, how come your channel can't be viewed?

  • @SweetZombiJesus There's no point for people to view my channel, I don't have any videos to post. I was going to eventually put up some of my animations, or save up for a video camera and do drawing/saxophone stuff. For now, it's simply there so I can post comments and 'like' videos :) lol

  • @xb00mdeeboomx Oh that strange, I thought the site automatically had you set up a page when you join. Then again, its been so long since I signed up, I don't remember.

  • @SweetZombiJesus I have it set up I just have it so that people cannot view it I suppose. I don't quite remember setting it to private but I guess it is.

  • YEAH THESE GIRLS BE ACTIN' CRAZY WHEN THEY DANCIN', BLACK SWAN, I AIN'T FUCKIN AT THE CLUB, PUTCHA CLOTHES BACK ON.

    *cough*

  • @TheManinMoscow45 shutup.

  • I think that they could have goten a better man to dance with her,I mean the guy could not even get her one foot off the floor.

  • When I hear people say that the film needed a great "actress," and that's why Natalie Portman was cast, I laugh. How gullible are you? What the film needed, as with any Hollywood film, is a STAR, to ensure the film makes money. Otherwise, Aronofsky may not have had the financial backing he did. Because when you think about it, wouldn't it have been just as much work to have taken a professional ballet dancer and given her a year of serious ACTING training? But then, who'd wanna see THAT?

  • @epkot19

because both cannot be fully learned in a year. And since most of the movie is acting I feel like the director made a good choice in getting an Actress and teaching her all they could in ballet then getting a dancer and teaching her all they could in a year about acting. Sorry this film couldn't take a lifetime in production to get an awesome actress and a professional ballet dancer.

  • @epkot19 Yes as if a year of acting classes would turn anyone into a good actor. Fuck ff. And I love how you have the need to WRITE like THIS to emphasize your points and distract from the fact that you have zero arguments in your post.

  • @Kazikox Have you ever studied acting? I have, as well as ballet. And yes, you can learn how to be a great actor in a year. Ask many of the professional actors in Hollywood. Check out how long acting programs are (many are two years). And, as a matter of fact, ballet dancers study acting as it is anyway, being that it IS a theatrical art form and acting is a part of their work. As my ballet teacher said, after seeing the movie, "It's a lot easier to learn how to act than it is to dance."

  • @Kazikox Oh, and I write like THIS because there's no italics/underlines to place emphasize on here otherwise. I suppose the strong point of your argument was "fuck ff"? If I didn't have an argument, why'd you bother to reply? :)

  • @epkot19 Mainly boredom. Also I had just gotten back from the dentist so I was highly irritated. My point being - actors act, dancers dance. Nobody really expected Portman to be a good dancer, that's besides the point. You can't become a good actor after just one year of training, just like you can't become a good dancer after a year of training. Unfortunately, everything's not that simple.

  • @epkot19 Typically films need actresses, not dancers. Besides, when Natalie was chosen for this role she wasn't a star - Darren approached her 10 years ago and asked her how she'd feel about it. What's your beef about the statement Natalie's a great actress?

  • @Pharyn This is a commentary on the "should they have picked a dancer, or should they have picked an actor" debate. It's irrelevant. The film needed celebrities to attract viewers and ensure the film succeeded financially. All you little people debating the merits/lack thereof of her dancing skills are missing the point, which, at the end of the day, in so far as Hollywood is concerned, is $, plain and simple.

  • I agree with your comments epkot19. The truth is that had they had Ashley Tuttle or Sarah Lamb playing the lead parts the film would not have been the huge commercial success it was, especially as NP's role was so prominent. Maybe if it hadn't been aiming to be a big blockbuster then it would've been less of a big deal. Sure NP didn't become in a year what professional ballerinas are frome a lifetime of training but the dancing was only really the background of the story anyway.

  • @epkot19 You don't have to clue me in on what you are arguing about, or call me/others "little people." Yea, Hollywood is concerned about money. Duh. I'm saying that it makes no sense they would choose an actor who is primarily a dancer because it is a film. You're not thinking about the mode of presentation. If it was theater/stage, it would be a dancer first, actor second.

  • @epkot19 Natalie Portman is hardly famous dumbass. Not everyone can act so DUH they couldn't of got a ballet dancer.....

  • @VentraleStar She's "hardly" famous? Hasn't she been a Hollywood actress since she was in The Professional? WHO'S the dumbass? Did I SAY they should get a ballet dancer, or did I simply say that they picked a STAR to ensure people would see the movie and the investors would get their money back? Do you READ or do you just write snarky comments?

  • @epkot19 There's a lot of unfamous actors who have been so since childhood...wtf. 7 out of 10 people didn't know who she was BEFORE BLACK SWAN. Maybe you should stop.

  • @VentraleStar 7 out of 10 people didn't know her before Black Swan? Where did you get that figure from? Sounds to me like you made that up. I mean, aren't we talking about the same actress who starred in that little known movie called...STAR WARS?

  • @epkot19 Of course I made it up....that was a common sense statistic. And how many people know Ewan McGregor by name. Go ahead ask. You'll find like like maybe one or two. Just because you're in a movie that made a lot of money doesn't mean everybody knows you...especially a cult film like Star Wars.

  • @epkot19 And I just read the secon half of your first comment which is ignorant. It's a movie so let's do the math....do we go from actress to dancer....or dancer to actress. Which one will look like shit acting?

  • Comment removed

  • @VentraleStar Most ballet dancers have at least some acting training (though not necessarily method) since ballet is a theatrical art form itself. Many ballet dancers also try to cross over into the world of acting (which is why you will find many actors listing dance training on their resumes). Furthermore, there are many famous actors who had little to no serious acting training prior to their landing roles, and they seemed to pull it off. Johnny Depp comes to mind...

  • @epkot19

Yeah, this was especially common back in the 40s/50s era when musicals were more common. Jacques d'amboise was a professional ballet dancing and starred in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

  • @epkot19

Yeah, she's been famous since she did Leon when she was 12! I know that she prioritised her studies over her acting in her teens but she was still well known and acting.

  • @epkot19 Because Ballet dancers all over the world want to become serious actors in a low budget Aronofsky film.

  • Comment removed

  • @epkot19 Its a lot easier to take an actress and get a body double for most of the ballet scenes. You cannot, however, get an "acting double" for a ballet dancer. What if you trained her months and found she just doesn't have the screen presence, the voice, the delivery required? Like I said, if the actress doesn't learn her ballet perfectly, you can get a body-double, problem solved.

  • it takes years and years of practice to learn and perfect such dancing. Natalie did not do a lot of dancing in this movie. it was a girl named sarah. i find it highly stupid that a lot of people think she did almost of the dancing. when it was obvious she didn't do it. I have a friend who's mom is a ballerina and it took her at a good amount of years to learn the moves and display such gracefulness. Come on people use your brain for once.

  • Anyone with half a brain realises that she's not a dancer, she's an actress, and she did train to portray the role as best as she could, which is admirable. Some actresses want a double for anything requiring effort. That being said, this film offers a way for more people to get interested in ballet. Unless you already have an interest, how often does it come up in a day for the average person? Not much. This film could spark interest in people, which I think is great.

  • seeing on youtube do not have the same emotion to see in the cinema

  • best movie ever best actress :X

  • 0:07 WOW!

  • I can't decide which side of this argument is right. On one hand, Natalie can't even do a proper port de bras, on another, who cares? Was the film good or not? Dancing aside.

  • @Rindlemoon I've decided... a year of training is really not enough to be able to dance well, but she seems to pull it off well ENOUGH for people who aren't dancers. Anyone who IS a dancer knows that it would be impossible for her to be a master at this... That being said, why not Summer Glau? She is a dancer, and a gorgeous actress who is good at mentally unstable roles.

  • @adballet also it wouldn't have been possible for them to film all the dancing scenes using a professional so I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve with your other comment either. What do you expect them to do? Place her face on the dancers body using CGI for every dance scene? I dont get people like you on here, I mean if you didn't like it don't watch it anymore, simple. Why are you guys looking up scenes on YouTube to watch again? Just to complain?

  • @adballet I'm sorry I'm not sure I've understood what you're saying. Do you seriously think that all actors who have ever played a doctor and had to do a scene where they're performing surgery have had to obtain a medical degree to do so?

  • Does Natalie Portman's character kill the girl that she thinks is out to get her?

  • @jazminestryder no, she kills herself

  • 0:36 and thats when he got her pregnant

  • i really liked this scene but i kinda wished they had shot it differently so you could actually see her dancing because i couldn't really get the full effect

  • @dirtyhotdogwhore I think this scene is more about what's happening in Natalies eyes than the dancing. It's about her psychological transformation in to the Black Swan. I think it's pretty powerful.

  • @dirtyhotdogwhore They couldn't. They had to keep the illusion of her dancing, because most of the time she isn't.

  • Comment removed

  • @WixkedLovy I'm not saying she didn't have some dance training, what I meant was that she wouldn't have had the same amount as a fully trained professional ballet dancer (hence the medical degree' reference. Some people on here are comparing NP to a professional ballet dancer; my comment was aimed at them, because that isn't fair, she's an actress not a dancer

  • @watermeloniesha no dear, it's correct spelling is with an 's' and you'll find that that's how it's spelt in the UK, Europe and Australia. It's only spelt with a 'z' in America, as there they prefer to spell things phonetically

  • Comment removed

  • @TyraUK then you all must have horrible hygiene, unbearably trite humor, and a stick up your ass about the revolutionary war by default

  • @brianlilith can't tell if stupid, or just trolling......

  • Oh my gosh she didn't dance in most of the movie. The professional ballerina Sarah Lane did most of the dancing. Look it up.

  • badass natalie, that dance scene was del putas! xD
