thank you for this mormonmessage! I love to watch these, they give me a new perspective on the things that really matter and help me live a happier life. I've started to make sure that I have read scriptures and done all the hw necessary for the nxt day before txting or facebook-ing. It has made such a difference in my life & blessed me with the Spirit to guide me in ways I wouldn't have imagined. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, I have felt it bless my life in so many ways. Thank you!
Yea, science and technology have always been religions greatest enemies. Same with logic and reason. I know you won't approve this comment because you know I'm right, and you don't want anyone to see this and perhaps even start thinking for themselves.
I am sure that God gives us His love showing their voice warnings through his holy prophets, and the best way we can thank him for his great love is following the holy prophets of the Lord and be safe.
You never really think about it until it is put into the perspective of the Gospel and how Heavenly Father views these things. I spend was too much time on my iPhone and FB... time to town it down.
I believe this is true. I have been struggling to stay righteous on my devise so I plan to use it more sparingly and look after my brothers and sisters as I am supposed to. I believe this to be true and I hope I will listen to this and others who are having problems like me.
I would never have watched this, or any of the other Mormon videos, if I wasn't in the habit of using technology. Technology is a great thing that betters our lives.
This is all true. I myself waste many hours playing on any computer, video game, etc. It seems that all these teenagers would like to be in the army, just for the killing from all these violent games. I have nothing against Call of Duty, gears of War, etc., but I just hope that teenagers don't think that killing is a game.
I to speak, am agnostic, I respect all religions and cultures, they are beautiful things on these earth, but it is up to people to decide to spend time on technology or little sister,
technology has not done anything bad but help this earth, it is people who put them for bad uses.
Media tech today is such a blessing! Think about how quickly you can send a note of appreciation, or help a friend feel better, or keep track of so many pieces of information that use to take much longer to search out. We are sooooo blessed! Unfortunately, everything good and wonderful can be twisted and manipulated to addict and pull us down. It is a world of choices. We have the power to keep our tech used to push us up...not down. WE ALWAYS HAVE THE POWER OF CHOICE.
This is very true... This video always makes me sad. Because I fall into this category . I am addicted to video games. Its because I use them to escape the world. Because I hate the way my life is going. No matter what I do I cant get out. I always come back. Please dont make the same mistakes I do. For it is a trap that you cannot get out of. I wish it were different but Its so hard. :(
@neotev my friend, it is still not impossible for you to get out of, if so what and who is the atonement for. i say for you too. you need help from a friend, family member or bishop to help you if you can not do it on your own. do not try to just stop but try to make your life better so that you don't feel the need to escape it. i will pray for you and wish you well
great teaching! important message for this generation! does anyone know if these Message is translaed into Spanish or subtitled? It would be great to show this message to a group of Young men and women in my stake.
I am a good Christian, I pray to God every night, and ask for forgiveness for my sins. I go to Church almost every Sunday. I also happen to play games that involve violently murdering people like Manhunt and Grand Theft Auto. I enjoy myself some great Death Metal music, too. Are you really trying to say that the way I live my life is wrong?
@slipknot80210 He is just suggesting that as a Christian you would find yourself happier in doing more uplifting things with your spare time.Trying to be more like Christ in your everyday life is a lifetime challenge and every second we spend doing other things makes that challenge a little longer to achieve. At the end of your life I suggest that you would be far happier that you have become the person that Christ would want you to be rather than a good gamer. It your choice. It always has been
@slipknot80210 Murdering people in video games and death metal music definately don't invite the Spirit into your life. He isn't saying you're a bad person. You just place less priority on having the Spirit with you.
@slipknot80210 I don't feel like that is what he is trying to say at all. To me, you sound like anything BUT a bad person! I feel like he is saying that any of us who enjoy or desire these things should really look at what they actually provide us. If you and I truly seek after the Holy Spirit to guide us and help us to make the right choices in life, do these games or does this music HELP us, or HINDER us? That way, when we decide to play or listen, we are not making an uninformed decision.
@slipknot80210 The way that everyone lives their life is in some way wrong, definitely. Christ would not do those things, and neither should we. In the process of being good Christians, we should strive to be more like Christ, should we not? Therefore, yes, you are living your life in the wrong way, however, everyone else is as well. All that you can do is your best. So do your best. ^_^ I think that's all anyone can really ask. We don't have to be online, or playing a game to be happy. :)
@slipknot80210 do you feel that is the message? if so do you want to change? if not, then you are free to choose what you feel is best for you. that is the wonderful part of these messages, you may choose to take them or leave them, but whichever you choose that is between you and the Lord, not for anyone else to judge. sincerely waykaat
President Bednar instructed my mission president to help us missionaries to understand the importance of living in reality. That was the second most important conference in my mission since I understood the importance of time for the well being of our loved ones.
EVERYONE, not just youth, can benefit from this message. Imagine how different our lives would be if we all spent just 4 minutes each week to watch this video and recommitted to the counsel given. WOW!
There's nothing wrong with playing video games, listening to music or using your cellphone. It shouldn't be all you do, of course. You definitely shouldn't be a jerk and blow your sister off. That would be wrong no matter what you are doing, even if its reading the scriptures.
As far as doing things you wouldn't do in real life, it is just a game. Nothing worse then when children play pretend war games, or when someone reads a novel about war.
@huttie2342 I agree with most of what you say, but the idea that it's 'just a game' isn't really true. My non-member brother, an Iraq and Afghanistan War veteran, told me that the option to kill innocent civilians in a CoD game, and reward for it, was disturbing; then, in RPGs, he finds himself choosing noble paths. I'm not saying someone is evil if they do those "dark" things in games, but it shows there are those who can't help project their "what if it WAS me," even subconsciously.
@anotherkindofcold I believe you are referencing the game: "Modern Warfare 2"- in which you enter an airport with a machine gun and gun down the civilians. your aren't rewarded for it, its just something you're forced to do
I agree. I constantly get inspiration from the videos in what has proven to be the most challenging times of my life. Please don't slow down; we need them.
Hey hey! That's me in this video! I'm so grateful for the oppurtunity I had to be a part of this project...the message is absolutely true. There is so much media and technology vying for our attention in this world, we have to be very careful with what we partake of, and be sure we are giving the proper attention to the things in life that REALLY matter!
THANK YOU for making these videos, they help me in ways you cannot imagine. :) I can defin. spend less time on facebook! Thank you for the reminder, and for all of you who have put in so much hardwork to make this-thank you! it was not wasted!
isn't sad that when we forget our cellphone's we turn back to get it, be can't live with out it... but what about the book of mormon, that is one of the greatest gifts god gave us, would you turn around to go get it if you forgot it? would you FWD messages from the book of mormon like you do with your phone?? we can live with out our phone! i promise!
Amen, I work in a call center dealing with tech support. One day I had someone call in because their TV wouldn't power on, after a simple trouble shooting step I determined it needed repair. Has I told the customer that we need to set up for repair the the closet time is 5 days out, the customer shot back, "What are my children going to do." That is when I realized how serious America has become addicted to Technology, we have to have the latest devices, even though we really don't need them.
