Now the tax cuts for the middle and lower class would also end, however then you just write a new tax cut proposal for the lower and middle class. Forcing republicans to either vote for the tax cut, or against it. Eitherway Obama could achieve a victory by doing almost nothing.

Why does the "United Negro College Fund" still exist? Why isn't there a "United Caucasian College Fund?" Do any of you guys understand the concept of "Class Warfare"? How about "Social Justice"? Ever heard of that? Do you know who Karl Marx was? Do you know who the Bolsheviks were? Obama knows exactly how to apply pressure and change votes -- but he only does it to progressive Democrats. When Dennis Kucinich wouldn't vote for the health care bill without a public option Obama flew to Ohio and called on voters to pressure Kucinich, who eventually voted for health care.

What Obama is telling us here is he knows that we want change, but we can't handle change. @Starry2000 Actually even if he does absolutely nothing, the tax cuts for the rich will still end. As they are expiring. Now the tax cuts for the middle and lower class would also end, however then you just write a new tax cut proposal for the lower and middle class. Forcing republicans to either vote for the tax cut, or against it. Eitherway Obama could achieve a victory by doing almost nothing.

@GhostInTheShell29 Negative. The president doesn't write law. The Republicans just allow all tax cuts to expire and introduce funded unemployment extensions with a tax cut extension and lay it on the Democrats to vote it down. Obama loses twice.

Anywho if the republicans do that, yeah that puts the democrats in a pickle. But wouldn't it be just as bad for republicans? unemployment extensions is "Big" government. It would cause division, the tea partiers wouldn't go for it. I think everyone would lose all around if they tried it.

Obama wont say what he traded for the tax cuts but after some digging I found the answer - the missile treaty. The republicans will vote for reducing the stockpile in exchange for it. Its sickening.
