@nt4life depends...for ADCC it's beginner: <6 months....novice, between 6 months and 2 years....stupid i think because someone just under two years is very different than someone just over six months...
He's very good, for sure. You said 8 months experience? He must have really dedicated himself to preparing for the competition. I'm not sure where that was at, but around my area (East Coast) US Grappling is the only major organization that sponsors these events and their rules are Novice is 7 months or less experience. But, if they allowed it then I think it's perfectly legit. You have to assume that everyone else is stacking thier division too. If not you're just stupid.
more like quarter finals, semi finals and than championships because whoever looses the championship gets the silver. IDK man it just doesn't make sense.
anyway thanks for posting. i always learn a ton when u guys post. thanks and keep it up guys good job.
Yeah, you are totally right (quaters, semi, finals)...I just wrote it that way to understand that he was moving up toward the gold match....its all good
match around 5 mins, perhaps he could have arm triangled because the guy seemed to be asking for it. when it first went to ground... or am I dead wrong?
awesome video... makes me wanna work more on my jits and hopefully compete. oh and i visited victoria about a month and a half ago, nice place. wanted to drop in for a class but couldn't. oh well next time i'm down it'd be cool to say hi and thank you in person for all the help your vids have offered.
lol i wouldnt know that i train under jacare cavalcanti and cobrinha maciel at alliance bjj.u should try messaging them or just waiting until the answer you question because they ussually do
The 10th Planet system is much deeper than most people think...it is much more than rubber guard, and twisters...it pulls from judo, catch, sambo, bjj and anything else that works as well as developing its own innovation.
yeah i knew what i said wasnt going to be completely true thats why i said what i understand of it.one of my goals is to go out to la and train with eddie anyway
started my first bjj/mma calss on sunday.feel like i got hit by a truck today, but loved it.and thanks to your vids only got realy nailed by the instructor and a guy whos been doing it for 2 years a is about 3 stone heavier than me.any tip on not getting bruised up from people passing would be nice,i guess there gear you wear makes a differnce,i was just shorts and t-shirt!
Don't let them pass. Sweep or attempt a submission as soon as they're in your guard. Don't just sit there. It's not time to rest. they have a more dominant position. If you don't work right away they'll just keep kneeling on you thigh and passing over top. At least if you fail a sweep or sub they'll be moving around to the side for side control or kesa-gatame (scarf hold) and not ovver the top to a full mount.
thx i'll try that next class,at the mo it feels like i don't have a guard against them,i didn't realise how difficult it would be to keep the guard tight against a stronger opponent.i also keep getting caught by a guy just driving his shoulder into my throat when in half guard.i guess keeping my chin tucked in would help but he got it about 3 times, thats all he could get though so i'll work on that.
look up the lock down. If you don't know what it is it'll improve your half guard IMMENSELY. Much better control and they can't rip out of it like with a normal half guard.
thx dude i'll look it up! I think the problem is i've just stared and i've been watching these vids for a long time before i started and it's all a bit advanced.I'll trawl through all the stuff on basics i can.learn to walk before you run and all that!
@chushinryoku A-men to that statement. im the only one doing it at my club and for some reason ppl just don't want to try it. i'll take it. i love it and it works so so so so well. way more sweep options in my opinion than reg. half guard or deep half guard for that matter.
hunchback!!!!!!! but gratz man gl on ur next tournys etc

i dont think he should have entered the novice category
JiuJitsuAbe 2 years ago
Why is that? He had 8 months of training and it was his first competition. He just trains very hard and was better that day than his opponents.
Submissions101 2 years ago
he seams a whole lot better than the novices he faced.
im not putting him down, he is very good....he should have started in a harder category than novice, but thats only my opinion
train hard and good luck,

Dude, i love how every match he gets the guy in a drop down guard position, thats awesome.
i grapple/bjj/tapout wrestle, in weight training class, and i only get people down using judo.
however, the opponents i face don't practice bjj so i almost always get them in the guard!
its AWESOME!!

lol GG. ya dude judo helps in wrestling so much, i do judo wrestling bjj and wing chun kung fu, good shi.
