  • dunno why people class vic and bob as surreal. just two guys doing what they think is funny. like the 2 ronnies and eric and ernie. personally i think they piss all over anything a british comedian has done for the last 2 decades (except for the almighty blackadder, and the league of gentlemen gets an honourable mention.)

  • Those poor monkeys

  • Forget surrealism, why not just accept it as funny,!? just as it was intended.

  • classic...love this!

  • perfection

  • nothing flew off and exploded!

  • It's heartbreaking

  • @milkjester : It is genuinely heartbreaking, I laughed and felt sad at the same time!

  • this is deep, mind blowing performances

  • you can watch 100 times and its still funny

  • Not to intellectualise Vic & Bob but plenty of the first surrealist and dadaist artists/filmmakers were practical jokers, taking the piss out of traditional art and also being silly and leftfield for fun. Sadly they were a bit too good and their 'anti-art' got accepted as genius - the famous 1917 Urinal being the earliest and most blatant act of going over the critics' head. Thought Id say, don't be pompous about 'getting it', its the opposite its ridiculous - particularly this set of sketches!!

  • Bob's smile at 2:50 is so adorable.

  • I've put the music on my profile (the comment thing won't let me put a link to it)

  • I've uploaded the music, look at it on my profile. not spam, honest.

  • what is the music called? the easy listening one?

  • @moglove109 It's called Zabadak and this version is by the Larry Page Orchestra

  • bang bang is definately their best work

  • @RallyDon82 I concur.

  • I fell about first time I saw this and have just watched it for the second time now, it is just sooooo funny, strange but funny and sad at the same time.

  • Right....Well, as long as the rest of you find it funny...

  • That's Charlie Higson isn't it?

  • Very frustratin'

  • now im gone who will take my precious monkeys to be baptised lol

  • Best sketch. Ever.

  • Hey nice video u should check my channel out :)

  • one of the best moments of this series, along with vic growing a beak and taking flight towards montego bay

  • At 2:59 the monkey looks rather smug

  • Somebody had a acid trip.... Was it me? O.O

  • god they look so young here

XDDD i love how bob tries to implement the strategic benefits of a styrofoam cup into the situation at 1:49

  • The cup bit is the best moment of all. It actually hurts me.

  • i love this its just like "...what? *bursts out laughing* "

  • Did someone just drug my tea? What just happened?

  • Awesome sketch! One of my all time favourites!

  • Epic fail - Its nothing to do with art and being knowledgeable. Its just really surreal humour, which a majority of people find hilarious - I love watching this and having everyone else in the room sat like "WTF :|" straight-faced while im doubled over laughing .. thats why vic and bob have like a cult following of people with the same humour!

  • @curiousaboutthispuma well you don't need to know them to get the homour. the parodies are so obscure to most people and don't really work as something we know. I suppose not parodies but influences from people like bunuel and dali (watch a film of theirs!) and having it as something so obscure and out of nowhere makes it more likeable.

Vic is actually an artist and a comedian too. he puts on exhibitions and they are very similar to those strange drawings he does... that's surrealism...

  • "Very frustrating"

    has me every time.

  • what show is this from? Bang Bang?

  • Yeah

  • whats the song playing when the man ejects the egg from his mouth?

  • Comment removed

  • As stated previously in thread, Something going on by Babybird. its here on youtube, highly recommend it, great song

  • No matter how often I see this the bit a 1:42 still makes me laugh so much that it hurts.

  • He disappeared!

  • A friend of mine and I believe that the egg in the mouth thing may occur in something else like a music video, can anyone confirm this?

  • vic and bob add little subtle references to art,surrealism,70s music and game shows etc you've really got to be knowledgable to spot them. I think these sketches are like surreal films or art pieces. the egg is a urreal metaphor for life or birth, dali usedit alot in imagery.

  • as if, you pretentious get

  • I know the music is an instrumental of Zabadak, but does anyone know if this version is available anywhere?

Because I LOVE it, and it has good Vic+Bob memories!

  • classic!!

  • this is my all time comedy sketch! when i try and explain it to people i get funny looks

  • what in the hell is going on with that egg?

    Brilliant!!!

  • Watch Un Chien Andalou by Salvador Dali...you'll love it

Also, if my memory serves me correct, the egg also appears in a similar V&B sketch where they're on a cliff

  • woah

  • This demonstrates the frustration we all have with car doors in this modern life. Or is it just me?

  • Never in all my pot smoking days have i laughed so much!

  • Does anyone know what the music is during the bit "There's something going on..."?

  • It's "There's Something Going On" by Babybird

  • Cheers chief.

  • And the music throughout these sketches is Zabadak by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky , Mick & Titch.

Search on here for Zabadak and its the black and white video.

  • Anybody know who does this version though?

  • The Larry Page Orchestra. They did an instrumental cover. c:

  • Thanks to this golden information, i've just managed to buy Larry Page Orchestra's instrumental of Zabadak (as found on the Up, up and away album) from amazon for the princely sum of 71p :) Now i can play this song in the car as i've ALWAYS wanted to. Arfarf, tally ho!

  • ....8O

You lucky get! It is one of my many goals to play this in the car, but I can't get hold of the Larry Page Orchestra's Zabadak.... or a car.

  • All in good time, friend. I've waited about 10 years for this. Arfarf. Thanks again.

  • insanely brilliant

  • strangly moving........

  • best comedy sketch ever

  • тупой английский юмор.

  • Only Vic and Bob could do something like this and make it funny.

  • And all he wanted to do was get the monkey's baptised! - Absolutely ace!

  • Cat Foot

  • Higson looks a bit like Bill Kick at the end there

  • *Hicks

  • What is the music played at the end... "there's something going on" please? Anyone know?

  • That's Babybird - check out their stuff, Stephen Jones is gold.

  • Ok will do. Thanks for that. :)

  • help yourself to some talbot water. its made of peat!

  • An unforgettable moment of TV. Well I haven't forgotten it yet anyway.

Seeing this again I can't help but think of the latter Dr.Mephisto from South Park who had his monkey boy Kevin.

  • my brother keeps dolphins in his trasister radio still where im from u cant get the red fire engine out without rubbing edam cheese on the bonnets first !!

  • These sketches featuring the "frustrated" car door men were known as the Lunchtime Capers. The music is an instrumental of Zabadak by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mitch & Titch. I don't know who this version is by. Anyone?

  • It's by the Larry Page Orchestra. You can get it on the "Music for Night People" album, but I think it's long since been deleted unfortunately.

  • Great. Thank you.

  • That was truly bizarre, even by Reeves and Mortimer's standards!

  • vic & bob can be puerile and lazy for far too much of the time, but when they're on, they're REALLY on. wonderful, wonderful stuff (best watched in conjunction with the other "car door blokes" sketches)

  • what music is used

  • woah

    that was really weird.

  • My favourite too. Genuinely moving

  • Does anyone know the tune that is played when anybody dies in this series of sketches? It comes in at 2.14 on this clip, thanks!

  • It's by Babybird. Think it's called Something's Going On

  • my alltime favourite sketch,it still makes me hurt

  • right out there...lol

  • ha ha who will look after my precious monkeys when i am gone?

  • I Love it, This is what Vic and Bob do best!! I want them to bring out somethng new on the TV!! and it would be nice if they released shooting stars on DVD too!!

  • that was ridiculous!!!

  • This is my favourite scene from the best Vic and Bob series (Bang Bang?).Why was it shown late night on BBC 2!? Watermelon patch anyone?

  • Genius... We need less shooting stars and more catterick.

  • It's not Catterick haha
