Carl recorded the song slower, but Sam Phillips sped up the recording to make it sound a little more Rockabilly. Of course, stepping up the speed made Carl;s voice sound a little like Alvin and the Chipmunks. You cant beat that guitar tone however

You are right about Matchbox being good,but Carl did it better than the Beatles.He never got his due.And as a Jerry Lee fan I will say I liked Perkins version better than the killers.Frame that cause you won't hear me say somebody else did a song better than Jerry Lee much,but Carl was probaly the one person that could hold his own

Carl never got his due.Only Jerry Lee stuck up for him.Man when they played together it was crazy,then especially when they teamed with Jerry's cuz Mickey Gilley on Pop Goes the Country.Shit.That show was way too short.Man I miss Carl.Ain't it crazy that the Killer is the last man standing.When the Killer does go on,I hope not soon he is my man,they need to replicate his liver&kidneys.Clone his organs.They have stood the test of time.I want his fingers transplanted to mine,hell and Carls too

Where do you get this information that Jerry Lee is evil? He never seemed evil to me, and he claims to be a Christian, so why would you call him evil?

@CashPresley32 I was just jokin about Jerry Lee being evil.I'm actually one of the Killers biggest fans.Theres just been plenty of people in the past that thought Jerry Lee was evil or bad.I love Jerry Lee and hopes he lives longer than me because if he doesn't I'm gonna cry just like when Dale Earnhardt died.I know that when Jerry Lee is gone thats it.The true end of the Masters.He is the Last Man Standing

You're right, because we lost Elvis first, then came Roy Orbison, then it was Carl Perkins, and last to die was Johnny Cash, and they were all great. I was hit hard when Johnny Cash died.

Theres a funny story about "Matchbox", Carl and his band improvised it, drunk as skunks, so, years later, when the Beatles asked him how he got that sound, Carl said he had no idea cause he wrote it plastered, so, the Beatles taught him his own song! (its true! I heard him say it on a radio interview, years ago)
