yeah, a new Rival Schools would be cool, but im not sure i could think the same about DS. I prefer this one stay in 2D. Sadly Okamoto is gone, i think only him with SFIII staff could make a new 2D DS game with the quality of SFIII. Or at least a "HD Remix" of any game of the series.
Too bad this version never made it to US. For evryone arguing, just think of this as RS 1.5. This version Included more characters and a little more story. BUt had more art work and extras than ours. There was even a one that you could play as one of the "Extra/Hidden" students and go to one of the schools. You would "talk" with the characters and be friends with them or even make them your worse enemy. I've always wanted to know more about the characters because the bios provided told little.
When Project Justice was made I was hoping that mode would be there. Too bad it wasn't. Also all the artwork collecting seemed to have been removed, which I was also sad about because I liked to draw some of them. :( Also in Japanese PJ, you could make your own character, which I always wanted to do in that game.
Project Justice IS Rival Schools 2, it was the american name for it. There were only ever 2 games, not 3, or 4... Project Justice = Rival Schools 2 English name...
You have no idea what you're talking about. First of all Rival Schools 2 was exactly like the first one except there were like two or three extra characters and plus it was only released in Japan. Second, Project Justice(aka Rival Schools 2 in Europe)is the true sequel to the first game. It was not labeled Rival Schools 2 in America it was labeled Project Justice, which had tons of new characters and 3 on 3 tag battles. :P
......Rival Schools two, was called Project Justice, in America, had TONS of new characters and 3 on 3 battles, that WAS the same game... do the research... I did, I didn't just spout nonsence.. I looked up the info, theres only ever been 2 fighter games, 1 and 2, and 2 for america, was called project justice... Do the research, then talk, I know I did...
Aha, I figured out what confused you Xemmegas... There was a "2nd" Rival Schools 1 released in Japan, we'd later get it as the original PS1 version, which contained 2 bosses to choose, and Sakura, from Street Fighter... They're first ORIGINAL was just Rival Schools, with out said chars... Kind of like Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition. But this was still considered part 1... So Project Justice, AKA, Rival Schools two, was the true sequel. Look it up, if you don't believe me.
I know that these comments may be 2 months old by this point, and I mean no disrespect but a few things that you mentioned just dont add up to me. I agree that Project Justice is the true sequel to Rival Schools (Shiritsu Justice Gakuen), but the 2nd version that your reffering to is actually the original PS1 version worldwide (with Sakura, Bosses, mini games). The one that doesnt have Sakura and the bosses selectable is the 1st release, which is a Arcade exclusive version. - comment continued -
You stated that there were only 2 games in the series, on that I disagree. I own the 2 U.S released games, and the one in this video is neither. Just to bring these facts to a visual level instead of typeface, in this video, I noticed 2 charaters that were DEFINITELY not in "Rival Schools", Ran & Nagare. They were "new" in Project Justice, at least to the people who were unfamilar to the predessing game in this video. Basically, my point is that there were 3 games in the Rival Schools series.
There games at least with their american names where:
Rival Schools: Legion of Heroes (PS1)
Rival Schools: Evolution 2 (PS1 which is this game it was Rival Schools second edition) I believe it was only release in japan, had several mini games for the create a character option)
Project Justice (Rival Schools 2) which was exclusive for the Dreamcast
Rumor has it they are going to release a compilation of all the rival schools games for PSP...(RS1 EVO2, RS2'Jap ver') and let's hope it's true...a capcom admin said on a forum that it's not hopeless on another RS1 game...let's hope it's true
One of the obvious problems with a Rival Schools sequel would be the fact that the characters would then be in college not High School. Tekken and Street Fighter don't have that "school" restriction in their title. I think it could be done..using college instead of high school for a sequel.
Not necessarily. The next RS/PJ game could just be the same school year.
Incidentally, would it kill Capcom to acknowledge this series more? They could at least give it a remake in some kind of collection.... and not skip on the extra fun stuff like they did the first time around.
Yeah, Capcom really needs to focus more on their old series. 'Sides, most of Capcom's newer games are not-so-great in my opinion. (Sorry, but I never cared much for Resident Evil/Devil May Cry/Dead Rising/etc.)
Capcom should: either do a sequel to Project Justice, or re-release Rival Schools & Project Justice on the PS2 as part of a special collection. (just like how they did with the Street Fighter Alpha games & SF3: Third Strike)
Yeah with all the stuff they cut out of both english versions of RS1 and 2 put back in...Online in 2 was in japan only and that made me a saaaaaaaaaaaaad Panda
Finally, a hardcore gamer who's apparently seen as much as I have. I does'nt make no Damn sense how underrated games like these are. I have been around for a while, and it never ceases to amaze me what a currently 'acceptable' game is... Super Mario 3 has been around for roughly 20 yrs., and when it was re-released for the GBA, it BURIED roughly any competition that the gaming market threw at it.. That should of told them something. Although I do Like DMC, Viewtiful Joe, and KH, that's about it.
I agree. I pick Rival Schools than that overrated jabroni game which is boring. First it doesn't matter if it has good graphics and second almost all of tekken characters are in their 50's.
50s ok paul and law are in thier 40s and williams sisters are biological 42 most of the charters range from 16 to 45 knot counting the extremely old oyoung
Hell, I mean they are already past their prime, but they NEVER won the tournament despite having a large movelist because they sucked. GET OVER WITH, JABRONI!
If you guy have the dreamcast you can stilll DL and burn it, the older model of Dreamcast and play all burn game. Torrent is no good, you have to search real good all over the net
I second that, locke103. The industry today has no idea what it's missing. If any MLG gamers are watching this, please take note: This is what true gaming is about. FUN! Excitement!
Excatly. Too many gamers today have been blinded by graphics and features.
HD support, Blu-Ray, built-in DVD players and all the other bells & whistles don't matter - because games are what REALLY sell consoles. And when it comes to the games themselves, graphics will always take a backseat to gameplay. A game can LOOK like crap - but if it plays well, than the graphics don't matter at all.
And on that note, I was mostly disappointed by the next-gen consoles. The only one I was even remotely interested in at all is the Wii, mainly because the remote helps make the gameplay more innovative, more involving, and in some cases it feels more realistic. It looks to me like the creative well has dried up. I'm seeing less & less creativity, innovation, & effort being put into the development of games these days, and the games that are actually good are becoming increasingly hard to find.
There are far too many crappy games being released, and like I said before, there's too much focus on graphics and features. In that respect, the game industry is becoming more like the movie biz. Too many people choosing to 'play it safe' due to rising development costs. It does make some sense, but because of that choice the overall quality of current and future games is only going to decline.
I think that indie developers are the last hope for the industry. They're not afraid to take risks.
As for the rest of the biz, far too many people copy each other's ideas.
If gaming is to be saved, then the industry must get its creative flow back. Features and graphics are cool but in the end, the games are what really matter, and they're the only thing I care about when buying a console.
That's true since PS3 release just quite a few old PS1 games (mostly Sony exclusive games). Wii is a family friendly console unlike XBox 360 and PS3 focuses more on violence.
I cannot stand all this "next-gen" crap, & nearly all the new games are exactly that - crap.
There are a few exceptions here & there, but ONLY a select few. That's counting all 3 consoles.
All the gamers who grew up in the 80s & 90s, we gotta take it back in the day to the golden age - and show all these new-school MLG scrubs how it's supposed to be done.
Exactly. Fuck G4 and all that shit. We gotta go back to when Sonic and Street Fighter Rule the games and forget all this new shit like Bioshock and Elder Scrolls.
Yeah, there are alot of games in which I missed out on because I was too little to realise how many good games were around. I really want to be able to buy games for the Sega Dreamcast, Playstation 1, Super Nintendo, and Sega Saturn without having to dish out a ton of money. There should respectively be re-releases of these games or downloads on the Wii, PS3, and or X-Box 360. I for one would love to see Dreamcast games be brought to the Wii. Sega needs to maek a comeback and so does Sonic.
@RockerXZERO This game is pretty old school.. Street Fighter has a new game.. Constantly. Sonic as well. Street Fighter never changed it's scheme, but graphics, sonic fails now. If anything, THEY MUST BRING BACK RIVAL SCHOOL. I played this game until I ran out of quarters at my local arcade. God damn, loved this game.
sounds pretty awesome. I wish i couldve played it. as for street fighter... you pretty much said it. same shit different graphics. :) And since theyre eventually gonna make a new dark stalkers, i wouldnt doubt rival schools, power stone, and star gladiator wont get a piece of the pie. keep em crossed.
dear Capcom bastards , If you guys somehow manged to pull out a sequel to this series sometime near the future ..please add the first 2 in 1 new disc
