Can i just say, there is no such thing as a british accent! The uk is made up of loads of really different accents realy close together. Try listening to a scouse or londoner accent compared to a hampshire or somewhere down south. They couldnt sound more different. +the uk is made up of different countrys, england, wales and scotland and you would have to be a total idiot to not no the difference between welsh, english and scottish accents. We dont all talk like michael caine. :) soz 4 the rant

Yeah...and this is soooo cool...Last year I was two times in GB. In the south(-west) of England (Cornwall, Dartmouth, Bath, Chichester, Salisbury) and in London. And it was totaly different (not only language). The people in the countryside were very kind and very friendly. In London they were a little bit snobbish and sometimes (!) not very polite, but it is a cool city.In Germany we also have very different dialects, sometimes you cant understand them.Also in Switzerland in Austria.

@tausendstein ah yeah i agree with the whole people are nice in the eenglish countryside thing :) have been to cornwall devon bath many a time and people are just so so so nice. I think in London its not that people are snobbish necessarily its just you dont have time to talk to people. everyone's busy, places to go and stuff. that can be exhilerating, but at the same time very lonely and isolating. peoeple are even nice to me being 17, i find that often adults are wary of the teen folk :l

HOWEVER, Americans love any accent from Great Britain.... just because it sounds so proper and so different from ours. A Welsh accent is a British accent. A Manx accent is a British accent. They're all British accents. So yeah there is such thing as a British accent.
