I have translated this mantra - which is associated with Padmasambhava BTW, not the historical Buddha - into a similar metrical structure. My English version can be sung to the same melody, and will appear in my book, Incense for Padmasambhava.

From the distant land north-west,

From the centre of the lotus,

Filled with wonderful insights,

Offspring of the lotus flower,

The sky spirits are with you:

We who follow after you--

Come, inspire us, bless us now!

Could someone please tell me the name/ location of the Buddha rupa seen in the video montage at 2:50. It has the most beautiful face of any I have seen. It looks to me to be Japanese but more than this I do not know. Many thanks if you can help me.

This is the largest Buddha statue outside of Japan. It is located at the Jodo Mission, Lahaina, Maui Hawaii

@japril1 Thank you for helping me out. There are some lovely rupas in this video. They say that the image is already is the stone before it is chiselled out and that all the sculptor is doing is to make tangible their own heart.

To the non-buddhists; please understand that we do not worship the statues anymore than Christians worship pictures and statues of Jesus. The statues are just symbols that remind us of the love and gratitude in our hearts for the teachings that .

lol right,buddha is a word which mean the awakened one,before he became a buddha he was prince Siddhartha from nepal 2550 and more years ago,like you christian or whatever jesus believers you pray to a guy that still stay on the cross and the bible what a pack of lies and controversy,at least buddha showed us the way of compation and bliss,he teach us how to reach nirvana,better nirvana than your paradise,and you should learn more of a religion to be able to critise it

@bylovedream Sir your statement is ignorant. There is actual proof that the Buddha was real, walked this earth, and most of all spread his teachings. It is far from idol worship. If a Buddhist who prays before a statue of the Buddha is idol-worshiping, than a Christian praying before a crucifix is also idol-worshiping.

I'm assuming you're Christian, so hopefully you now see the flaw in your logic. Also just so you know, unlike 98% of religions, we don't hate non-Buddhists.

That's wrong dear friend. Satan doesn't exist, not out of your mind. Buddha's teachings are hardly known in the west.

He shows a path to liberation and anyone can get same state. He said 'happiness is a state of mind that can't be found out of your mind', every single person wants to be happy but dont know how. It doesn't sound to me that statment is comming from the evil, on the contrary, Buddha encourages all of us to be happy without harming others.

Try to read more and be happy.
