Great video! I had the good fortune to ride several Icelandic horses during a 10 day, 180 mile trek in eastern Iceland. The tolt is so comfortable, you could fall asleep riding it. However, it pains me to even think of an Icelandic horse having to live, outside of Iceland. This is where they evolved to become what they are.
Our Icelandic does surprisingly well in Phoenix, which is extremely hot and dry in the summer time. The heavy coat does not shed out completely so some bodyclipping is necessary to make the horse comfortable. Shade and free choice water are absolutely essential. Icelandics are a wonderful breed and with a little special care they can adapt to life in hotter climates.
Glad you enjoyed the show. Be sure you watch the trekking show next week!

I ride gaited horses for pleasure and this is my DREAM horse!
I live in South Texas, my husband was told they cannot tolerate our heat? I would love to visit Iceland and witness personally this amazing horse!
