i think i saw Belle rolling on the bridge at 0:22. and i must say, Stanley's voice is not bad, he sounds very well done like Pierce Brosnan does in TGD. but this episode kind of reminds me of 'The Party Surprise' one of the other Thomas stories.

It was quite suprising to see Belle make a Cameo in this episode. It was also good to see stanley have a role in this one. Another role for Charlie, telling jokes and what not. Its average and one piece of music sounded like the one from Pop Goes Thomas.

Whether the episodes are great, average or bad; undoubtedly curiousity wins people over when it comes to watching them. This was a pretty good episode and I must admit they did a good job of not making it too repetetive ;) I'm amazed Belle has appeared already as I thought she was gonna be introduced in DOTD but apparently not as her actual debut will be in the season 15 episode Big Belle.

I really enjoyed this. Yeah, the repetition and rhyming made me gasp and groan :P but it's nice that Thomas knows that he can't take Victor for granted( I mean, Victor's got his own work to get done, he can't exactly drop what he's doing every time an engine's broken down!), and Stanley spoke! Kinda does sound like Brosnan's Stanley voice, doesn't it. Belle's appearance was a little surprising. is this to take place before or after DOTD?

8/10. I love that Stanley FINALLY spoke in full CGI, and he sounds fantastic. And the cameo by Belle was nice, though a bit of a shame considering no-one's seen DOTD yet.

The plot's pretty good, and the lights make the Steamworks look even better IMO. The only downside is the CONSTANT Winter Holiday tripe. It's Christmas, end of.

@ThompsOnline3 - stumped as to how anyone could think that these eleven episodes that have aired could be anything other than sub standard. When you consider the writing of the first three seasons, and even the first of the CGI specials, in comparison to this season, it shows up the writing as simplistic, morally broken, poorly devised and rehashes of itself and other episodes in triplicate.

I gave this episode 2/10 on the SiF blog. 1000/10 is ludicrous, sorry to say. :(

@simierski- How true Simon. Same could be said for 'Henry's Happy Coal'. Yeah it was good, but... just a poorly disguised 'Good to be Gordon rehash' with rhymes.

I liked this episode, but again, does Thomas have to repeat exactly the same things as a rhyme? And come on, "my piston's nearly pooped', "my firebox is faulty". Amazing that all problems engines have are alliterative, eh? :P

@simierski I find it rather hard to choose, because I never was really thrilled with The Party Surprise, as I'd hoped for a better introduction of Colin. They're both rather bland... except for the models and CGI. The visuals are (almost) always great in Thomas.

@TugboatsandThomas - thats the problem. The visual quality does not match the quality of the writing. It's by far the best thing about Thomas. In the older episodes, forgiving the problems associated with the models, the writing was far better.

But then it has to be said, the original stories translated much better to screen than any of these scripts are. Chances are, it's down to two things: understanding of railways, and characterization.

Why the frigging hell did Thomas cause so many accidents. What is Sharon Miller thinking. I am amazed this got made. It isnt the worst ep, maiy because of Stanley appearing with a speaking role, but what is the deal with the freight trains. There are never any brakevans. But i love Greg's shots today. The opening scenes were magnificent. He is a credit to this show.
