I was looking for something to watch while cooking my dinner, and I'm delighted at your vid. I'm about your age, and was an NPR Liberal until I heard Stephen Kinzer on _Fresh_Air talking about his book _All_The_Shah's_Men, about the overthrow of Mossadegh in '53. Then I read Michael Meacher's article in the _Guardian and learned about PNAC, and cut all ties to hope in the classic American mythos.
I have since read Weiner's _Blank_Check, so I know well what a great truth-teller he is (Cont)
I read in Wikipedia how Allen Dulles was "an early foe of Hitler". Hah! They misspelled "sponsor". It was a direct quote from a CIA webpage.
I'm reading _The_Old_Boys by Burton Hersh, now -- a good insider view, but I'm going to get _The_Splendid_Blond_Beast by Christopher Simpson, because I understand it has documentation of Dulles's complicity in the Bormann capital flight network (along with Pacelli -- Pius XII). I want to rewrite that Wiki article, but only when I've got him cold.
crazycatfguy said "it will be 25 years I will find out the truth". I'm hoping otherwise. Michael Rivero has observed that Iraq was the first war in which the lie it was based on was exposed before it ended, and Iran before it even started! This thanks to the internet (while it lasts).
I borrowed Legacy of Ashes from my school library. It was an interesting read, and think it was pretty good insight to see how incompetent the CIA was, and although I knew that, I didn't know that it was from the start, with the exception of the decoders of WW2. Just so you know, I'm a 7th grader. ;)
I think it is fair to characterize the CIA as a private army looking out for US corporate interest. I have not read that book but have read many of the declassified documents and now maybe you can see why I listen to the news and suspect that it will be 25 years I will find out the truth.
for those of us who have done harm, one can only hope our actions going forward can somehow hopefully rebalance the scales. peace brother.

You are to be commended for reading such a dense, long book. If only we could get your elders to read it, too!

As someone born and raised in the USA it was pretty disturbing for me also when I stumbled upon similar information about the CIA.

Interesting that the marble inscription in the main lobby at CIA headquarters reads: "And ye shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free".
Is it the "real job" of the CIA to, in a sense, keep us slaves?

This is great

Nothing new for those who watch Noam Chomsky from time to time.

I don't know if it is addressed in that book but is seems that some of the worst atrocities committed by the CIA were under the watch of Bush Sr.

Absolutely no one in the book comes out looking good.

Our positions on this and related issues are closer than they have ever been, and I don't think it's because you've changed a bit!
