  • you realize in 09 this was absolutely useless right?

  • What's this J9 slot next to the AGP slot?

  • Can I use a PC AGP video card in this Mac?

  • you can put a geforce 7800gs with a video rom mod witha mod to the connector to limit it to 4x agp , also if you order a dual 1.7 or 1.8 ghz you can ajust the dip switches for 2.0ghz(would recomend a better heat sink) add an ssd and your flying with the power of a power pc cpu.

  • Snow leopard hack? Can you tell me more?

  • can it run aperture 3 ?

  • Hi ppl!!! I have an Powermac G4 and I wanna know what processor can I upgrade to... Can somebody tell meh? thx

  • @SeddieLove88 there are g4 upgrades from a company called sonnet. i believe you can go up to 1.8ghz G4 dual processor, that with 2gb of ram and a ati 9700 graphics card will give you enough power to do just about anything with this machine short of hd video editing. is yours a MDD, or is it like a quicksilver. agp, digital audio or sawtooth model. those can only be upgraded to 1.5gb of ram.

  • u have tiny harddrives step your game up playa

  • get it a g4 2ghz upgrade and youll be maxed. right know you are close.

  • Snow leopard hack PCC, dude please tell me where can I find it ?

  • its not maxed out! There are g4 with dual sonnet 1,6GHz

  • @RamiRiefert Maxed out with stock specs I think he means.

  • There is no Snow Leopard hack for ppc

  • what song is that in the background?

  • Wow ma, that is loud!

  • not exactly maxed out lol

  • what is the max hdd space seen by the computer?

  • how did you get it to recognize the 1bg stick of ram? I thought the max per slot was 512mb (o_O)

  • Also it's a shame you can't upgrade the cases with new intel-mac hardware. they look awesome! Best looking Computer ever imho, it's so sad to see these going to trash only because they aren't efficient anymore. Computer industry as a whole should start to take real responsibility for this planet. they waste a lot of ressources, which is why i bought atx aluonly case for my pc. upgradable for years and if not...it can be recycled by just melting the whole case. luckily apple did this with the g5s

  • This is still a great deal computer BUT these machines are very loud. I got two maxed out Powermacs MDD over the years from friends for no money...i would've loved to keep them but i just can't stand the noise these machines make. And they really are air heaters....they use 400kilowatts per year using it 8 hours a day in standby only which costs 120euros energy every year. better buy an energy efficient Computer, save 80euros a year and buy upgrades for that money.

  • max it for real? cgi..ebay..com/PowerMac-G4-Dual-1-42GHz-MDD-Mirror-Door-CPU-820-1470-A-/250831593598?pt=CPUs&hash=item3a66ba607e#ht_500wt_951

  • 6,666 views? AWSME!

  • Me: Yeah this really cool, but he probably won't pop the hood. @2:37 (drooling) AW YEAH G4 pronzzzz!!!111

  • my computer is faster and it came out the same year that came out

    lets go microsoft

  • 1.25GHz. CAN YOU FEEL THE POWAH!?

  • I have the same machine. The Mac store tried to say I could not go past 10.4.11. I need to upgrade to 10.5 for Pro Tools. I guess I will max out my ram & upgrade.

  • Wow

I'm getting one with a messed up power supply for 10$. Thinking it is the fuze but anyway, how does leopard run on it? I have an iMac g4 and it is slow but works. Can you use ddr2 ram with the powermac?

    Great video and nice Mac

(macs make anything and everything possible)

  • Wait a sec...

Snow Leopard PPC Hack? As far as I know that doesn't exist, if your sure it does can you please post a link? : )

  • Macs are seriouly much better than PC's.

My PowerMac G5 2.5ghz Quadcore, I have had since 2006 and it still kicks the crap outta My girlfriends Dell desk top with its intel processor from 2009.

Most of my friends use Windows based PC's

With intel processors but they still cant comprehend how my G5 still puts theres to shame.

You Just cant Fuck with Apple!!

  • hey do you know how to mod the logic board in a mdd so i can upgrade my system bus to 167 MHz

  • mac sucks

  • Snow leopard PPC hack is a LIE

  • Snow leopard ppc hack you make me rofl...

  • @theimacmodders1 The only Snow Leopard OS that can actually run on a PPC machine is the 10.6 beta that still has the PowerPC code in it, before Apple removed it.

  • @theimacmodders1 The only Snow Leopard OS that can actually run on a PPC machine is the 10.6 beta that still has the PowerPC code in it, before Apple removed it.

  • lol atreyu in the backround, nice powermac. That is actually still useable!

  • This is the final model of the MDD then? The single 1.25 that was in 2003?

By the way, how have you got 1 GB stick in there? Is it unoffical, because its meant to hold 4 512 mb sticks of DDR ram:)?

    James

  • @AppleOcarinaOfMac Omg its tom's friend ;) lol

  • I have a PPC G4 MDD 1Ghz 133Mhz I know this is probably crazy but I'm sure you know the answer so...is there a way to increase the speed in order to get iWork? I was going to download a free trial and it told me I needed at least 500Mhz! Help!

  • i'm not saying that PPC are faster than intel macs, i'm just telling everyone the truth! intel macs are not other than a pc with a bite apple on it! these are the facts!.. PPC MACS STILL RULEZ!!

  • @Bassocic that's not entirely true. you can't just slap windows on a mac without emulating a bios for windows. macs lack a bios that windows uses in favor of a newer more advanced EFI, and to run windows you have to therefore emulate a bios so no the parts aren't exactly the same as a pc, but the processors, gpu's etc are, just flashed with mac roms (a bit larger than pc ones) and the ram depending on the model mac (mac pro) is sometimes differnet in the sense that it's server class fully buffer

  • not maxed out. if you had 2 1.42 ghz g4 processors it would be maxed out

  • sonnet card fried my motherboard too.. F**** sonnet and hi f***** processor card.. i buyed a dual 1.42 on ebay and OC it to dual 1.67.. runs pretty smooth for everyday tasks.. for hard work i use my quad G5 :).. buy powermacs people,, they are still GOOD!! do not follow the intel shit, apple is sellig pcs telling people they are macs!! stay AWAY!!

  • @Bassocic Intel Macs are so much faster and can run all the future software. Somebody is lying to you son.

  • i have a 20 inch

  • You can buy dual CPU card for MDD on ebay for about 100 bucks. Would give you about 50-60% more speed with most tasks.

  • Nice power mac. Does it have airport extreme or regular airport which gets only wireless b?

  • @collintheapplegeek It's just Airport, so no bluetooth either. Luckily it's right next to my router, so i just wire it directly.

  • @collintheapplegeek FW800 can use extreme

  • I had one of these.. dualcore 1.25ghz.. it fall down go BOOM. In other words the motherboard fried =(

  • ahhhh!!! 8-bit audio, it hurts!!!!

  • Have you put thermal compound on the CPU and Heatsink?

  • I actually have a MDD as my Hobby PC. I just like messing with it. It is has dual raptors in raid stripe and a WD Black 1 TB data drive. It has 2 gb of ram and DVD/CD burner. It runs really well I only need a better video card but refuse to spend 180.00 on flashed 7800 GS. I am going to attempt to flash a ATI 850 for it lets hope it works.

  • Best looking computer Apple ever made IMO. You can change the power supply fans and quiet that thing down the fans are the cuplrit. Also install chud tools which somehow idles the processors down without affecting performance, runs about 35 degrees cooler!

  • I love apple but the motherboard layout on this thing was shit

  • but it looks really cool on my desk :D

  • @plasma1337

    i have 24"

    you suck at life

  • Heyy, you said that you used to run Snow Leopard PowerPC hack... could you give me some more info on that... (a link would be nice) thankyouu :)

  • what type of tiger did you buy for that mac

  • i have the tiger 10.4.4 i think, and it's on cd's, i bought it on ebay about 6 months ago (it's the retail cd's not torrented)

  • Get a dual 1.25 or dual 1.42 with 2mb L3 cache, then you will have a maxed out G4.

  • i have the MDD 2003, i like to keep it to those specs, and dual 1.42 Procs are hard to find, but the graphics are maxed out, the ram is maxed out, and the Drives are near-maxed(510GB combined & 22X Superdrive) the thing really screams though, photoshop CS2 runs really nice, and so does iMovie HD 05'

  • check ebay.. 1.42's are all over the place,.

  • Hmm, the graphics aren't quite maxed out. There are plenty of other cards out there that will eat that poor Ti, and support your displays native resolution as well, and give leopard "Hardware" support for Core Image, My 350Mhz G4 with a FX 5200 I flashed runs most any resolution i can throw at it and leopard loves it.

    With full QE/CI support.

But im about to throw it into my Quicksilver.

    Very nice MDD though.

  • yeah, but the flashed cards can't drive ADC, so my 17" Studio Display would be useless without a 110$ adaptor.

  • since i finally got around to buying a new LCD panel for that

  • Very true, I love the feel of using the same monitor it came with.

And yes there are better cards than the 5200 but i was just saying what i used.

if i could get my hands on a newer 7series to flash for free like i get these 5200 all the time i would.

if im going to buy one ill focus on my gaming rig first lol but my 9series is good for now.

  • Nice one!!

    Is this the Dual 1.25GhZ?

Also, have you added additional cooling to this G4?

    Tom

  • It's the single 1.25Ghz, it doesn't have additional cooling, and has the original 400W "Wind Tunnel" power supply, this is one of the later ones that can't boot into OS 9

  • ahh cool :):)

    Nice machine...

    Tom

  • I have an MDD and it has tiger(10.4) and OS9 installed. Where can I get Leopard so I can do a clean install and get all that mess off there?

The ppl at the apple store say I can get snow leopard but Ill have to buy the $169 box set.

  • you probably will only be able to find leopard on ebay, now, they go for about $100, for the installation DVD. you can also check amazon, it will be cheaper there

  • Yeah there on Amazon for over $200. Im just not sure Im willing to spend any more money on this brick.

  • oh, it only costed $129.99, when i bought it on an apple store when it was released, but it's value probably went up because it's the last mac OS version that runs on PowerPC

  • Yeah that figures. I really need a clean sweep on this thing. Im about to just order a new mac mini anyway. But I would really like to get rid of this thing with a fresh tiger install

  • that sucks, the mini is a nice computer though, i got one about 2 months ago (the 2.0Ghz core 2 duo one) it's a great mac, and it runs bootcamp nice too, the only problem is that it's not as powerful as i had thought (though a substantial performance boost from my MDD) it does stuff like watching HD movies fine, but when it comes to exporting video from iMovie, and editing in Photoshop CS, the MDD is only a little bit slower.

  • I really don't need it for too much. But I was shooting for the 2.66 core 2 duo and I learned you can upgrade the RAM from the maxed 4GB from Apple to 8GB. I figure that might hold out for a while for at least the small stuff I do.

  • yeah, it's still pretty fast, the first thing that i did when i got it was to drop in a 320GB hard drive, since 120GB was way to small

  • That is pretty small. I was just going to have them stuff it with the 500GB that they offer. The Holidays need to end so I can start spending money on me again. lol

  • download for FREE! Torrents RULE! Say NO to paying for over priced software!

  • Hi, I'm a PC. I would like to challenge all of you mac people. Stay tuned for macs fail for 4x less the cost.

  • Wow,,,,,,,,you did a great job! I am in process of upgrading mine. Thanks for sharing video.

  • Greatl machine. I have dual 1ghz mdd and it`s maxed out.

I have mac mini (2009) as well, but i still use mainly mdd.

  • HAHA!! U cant run SL on this thing!

  • technicly, i can with the snow leopard PPC Hack

  • nice setup, but vintage!

  • cool and nicwe

  • Nice setup!

  • thanks
