"Mr Lincoln" - nice you take your name from a man who unconstitutionally suspended habeas corpus - Think twice and look in the mirror before you talk on freedom. All politicians are creeps and liars so your Nazi rant is uninformed. .
@EricDavidFloyd Evidently your schooling hasn't taught you the difference between a 'riposte' and a 'rant'. Whether you like it or not, it was the politician-statesman Churchill who won for you the freedom to open your mouth without being monitored by Nazi secret police; it was the 'politician' Churchill who abolished sweated labour, introduced limited-hours working days, labour-exchanges, unemployment benefits, and pensions. Not bad for a 'lying, creeping' person, eh? You need a happy pill!
@EricDavidFloyd .....yes, and then you'd have probably had a beautiful life (and all your kin), lining the streets compulsorily to raise your arms in the Nazi salute every time a German dignitary swept past in his staff car, and having to mouth Nazi propagandist doctrine on pain of imprisonment, and many other kinds of graceful concessions to civilisation and Freedom. If you read a little history you may discover how shallow and unthinking your post is.
@EricDavidFloyd Your parents' or grandparents' generation might have valued Freedom, and the man whose indomitable spirit saved it for us, more than you do - because they, unlike you, were in imminent danger of losing it, and had to fight tooth and nail for it. It is so easy to take Civilisation and Freedom for granted when you have it all around you, strong and flourishing. But let a maniac like Hitler have his way, and then you'd soon find out how precious Freedom is. All Honour to Churchill.
Hearing about the General Strike of 1926 makes me think of the 60's and 70's when constant strikes organized by the Unions for petty reasons like demarcation disputes (which worker could do which job) and the unions' refusal to accept changes in working practices finally destroyed British industry's competitivness and led to the closure of countless British companies. Elsewhere in Europe, where Unions were less obstructive, they retained much more of their manufacturing industry, and jobs.
Thatcher worshipped Churchill and behaved even more thuggish in the 1980's with the miners....when she broke the back of the unions (which was her ultimate goal because they generally voted labour) she started importing coal from poland saying it was cheaper.......
I had no idea that he was hit by a car; it is a miracle that he survived! Thank goodness that he did or the world would be a much different place than it is now.
If Churchhill and JFK could be around at the same time would have been something to see.. Both seem to be for the people.. Churchill kickz azz.

Yes, Hitler made major errors which cost him the war, but he may still have won if a weaker man than Churchill was leading the UK.
